  1. I'd hope that would be the case, although he said in an interview that he felt perfectly fine on Saturday. At his best I would definitely play him alongside Erskine and Lawless off the striker, but he's so up and down that I imagine he'll be in and out the side.
  2. Think when everyone's fit that Lawless, Erskine, Osman and Bannigan will all be regular starters, so it means Welsh, Amoo and Edwards are probably fighting for one spot. I'd hope Welsh would only be used in one of the two "defensive" midfield spots, and Edwards only considered in one of the three attacking spots. Given the options we have now, I'd rather not see Welsh, Osman and Bannigan played together as it's too samey. I think Archie would probably start Erskine, Lawless and Amoo off Doolan or Azeez the first game, but if Amoo is as meh as he was yesterday we might see Edwards slip in. Only issue with that is that it would probably mean Erskine being moved out to the wings, which I'd rather not see happen. Good options to have though.
  3. Ziggy Gordon says he's fit to play in a video on the official site, and so does Callum Booth.
  4. He played centre half in the 2-2 game at Firhill at the end of last season, and think he has played all across the back four on occasion. I think he's such a solid player that he more than makes up for a lack of height. We could probably do with another centre half, but I've not seen any of Syme or Devine yet, so can't really say how desperate that need is.
  5. Big credit to Archie and the board for pulling this off. Shows how far we've come that a lot of our signings and re-signings this summer have turned down sides who would traditionally have been seen as a better option. We've had players turn down Dundee, Accies, Caley(numerous times), and Motherwell among others, which is quite a good reflection on where we're at. Think Gordon will be a great signing, and probably move into central defence once Dumbuya is eventually fit. You'd think he'd only be here for a year, but given guys like Osman and Bannigan are choosing to see their long term future at Firhill, it wouldn't surprise me if he extended down the line either.
  6. The new Evening Times reporter said he thought Bannigan would be back within 2-3 months max, so I think we'd all take that for best part of two years more of Banzo.
  7. Seems a pretty low risk signing to me. Welcome to Firhill, David etc etc.
  8. One positive about Dan going is that it will hopefully allow Lindsay to play on the left side of the pairing for once. His performances have dipped in the last couple of months. Hopefully the switch will help return him to his form of late 2015.
  9. He looks a better centre half than a right back to me. We really need to play Dumbuya whenever he's fit, so would at least help find a place for Miller in the side more regularly. Would be a good re-signing for us. I don't think he'll get a move to a bigger side, but it's whether he wants more starts.
  10. Who are seen as the most promising players in the under 20 squad? Obviously Kevin Nisbet seems to be doing well, and has for a couple of seasons, but I don't really know a lot about the rest of them.
  11. Pogba has been much improved over the last month - I think mainly down to match sharpness and looking a bit trimmer. Would quite happily keep him for another year if he was perform to this standard from now on. Pogba and Doolan both played a key part in the victory - a goal and assist for them. Good to have different options.
  12. I think the club have decided down south is our best market. Generally there will be a lot of interest in players doing well in the Scottish lower leagues, and a good chance we'll be outbid.
  13. I don't think it's that ambitious given we potentially don't need to beat any more top six sides to actually get into the top six. Some teams make the top six almost purely on their great record against the bottom six. The year Motherwell finished second they had an incredible record against the bottom six, and just an okay record against other top six teams. If I remember correctly they won every single game against bottom six teams home and away apart from one loss against Killie. I think it will probably be just beyond us though. Would be happy with 7th-9th spot.
  14. He won at least five or six balls he had no right to. Usually about 40-60 or even 30-70 in the other player's favour but nicked in ahead of them. He's never going to be the best technically but a very effective player on his day and offers a more physical option to Lawless and Nesbitt. Good to have him back
  15. Good to hear Gary Miller had a good game. Will probably end up leaving at the end of the season, despite being generally solid and doing very little wrong. Lucky to have guys like him and Frans as back up. Two last minute winners at Firhill this season is changed days from our first and second season woes. We lack the goal threat of some of the teams around us, but give away so few goals that I think we'll be fine. Not particularly relevant to this game but we've conceded the least goals away from home of any team in the league - 11 along with Celtic. An incredible achievement given our resources. Can potentially push for the top six from here, given the two winnable games in hand at home, but would be happy with anywhere above 11th.
  16. One thing I'll say for Stevo is that goal against Caley helped transform our season. Was okay for us after a terrible start. It clearly wasn't working so better to get rid. He was on big wages by our terms so we should be able to find a decent replacement.
  17. Can't think of many full backs in Scotland I'd swap him for. Very pleasing. He's a relative nomad, so was maybe happy to settle down for a while. Probably played into our hands that he was 29. If he was 10 years younger we'd have had scouts from all over Britain coming to watch him.
  18. Guessing Stevo and Muirhead will both go and we'll be looking for straight replacements. One of our favourite markets is going after players that succeed in Scotland, sign for a Championship/League One side, then fall out the picture at their English club. Imagine we'll be looking at players that meet that description again. I think we should be looking for a winger who could go straight into the side, and then an attacking midfielder. Relatively happy with everywhere else, although would be pleased if we could upgrade on Pogba.
  19. Does anyone know how many points we had at this point last season? We can't be far off it after our recent resurgence.
  20. Not only did Stevenson score the goal, but he also made a vital clearance as the ball was ricocheting around our box in the final seconds of the game. He made quite an impact. I get the impression he will be away in January. The way he carries himself on the pitch, and some of his posts on Instagram, suggest so anyway. Has been a decent player for us after an awful start, but maybe for the best if he leaves if he's unhappy.
  21. Did we set up the same as against Dundee United, with Bannigan in a more advanced role, and Lawless just off the striker? It's amazing what a tweak in formation can achieve, with pretty much the same personnel. Think it's no coincidence that we've got two good results with Frans out the team. Had a poor season, and always prone to an error. Seaborne is our best defender when fit, and Lindsay deserves a run. Glad to hear Amoo is starting to show his worth. I also think Pogba is much more suited to playing physical defences than Doolan, who has barely had a sniff in most games against St Johnstone(bar his goal last season).
  22. McMillan wasn't paid a penny for the story. Clearly just wanted to get his side of things out, even if some of it doesn't tally up imo.
  23. I think we might have signed him so we can send Nisbet out on loan, and still have a third choice striker.
  24. Chris Jack's saying it's happening as well, and his signing stuff has always proved to be correct. YouTube is never a great judge of a player but he looks a handful. Not the cleanest of finishers, but he'd probably find it easier to lay a glove on defenders like that big guy Lucas yesterday than Doolan would.
