  1. Keep Erskine, Doolan, Penrice, McCarthy, Cerny, Elliott, |Bannigan(on a 6 month deal) and two or three others, and then ditch the rest.
  2. I think if we had a 16-year-old player as good as Harry Cochrane, then he'd undoubtedly be in the squad.
  3. Second signing might be Connor Sammon. Would be a decent enough option as third choice striker. Could do with a bit of height on occasion.
  4. Still think Archie made the right decision signing Blair Spittal and in selling Azeez, but we do lack pace and power to mix it up with Azeez and Amoo away, despite the latter being a useless shitebag most of the time. In an ideal world I'd like us to sign two strikers - a pacy one like Miles Storey and a target man like Brian Graham - and then another attacking midfielder(whether that's an attacking midfielder or winger). We might end up having to settle for just one striker. If they're even just a tiny bit better than Azeez then I would accept that as Azeez was alright. I think unless we sign something a bit different then we'll rely a lot on scoring perfect goals like the first one against Hibs, which is not ideal. But we were okay yesterday, and I think most teams bar Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen would have lost that, so it's not the end of the world.
  5. Who do people actually expect us to sign? We need strength and pace up front. Tade has been loved by the support of pretty much every Scottish team he's played for. I think he'd do a fine job.
  6. He's been around for years but he's only 30 according to Wikipedia, and just a few months older than Doolan. If he's still the player he was when he left Scotland, he would be an upgrade on Azeez and help bring a bit of power to the team.
  7. Thought we were superb yesterday. Brilliant having Osman and Bannigan back together. I'd say they're probably the best central midfield pairing we've had in my time supporting the club, and offer us the best balance of any available pairing. Bannigan also brings out the best in Booth and Lawless in the way they all link up. Spittal offers a lot more than Amoo on various levels, and good having someone that's willing to make runs into the box, rather than just cling to the touchline for dear life. Looks a great finisher as well, and I think there's the possibility we might actually make some money on him. St Mirren on the other hand were dreadful. Genuinely looked a similar level to Formartine United.
  8. Archie keeps saying on Jagzone that his priority is getting in a left sided centre half, so I think it might be partly why Hendry wasn't considered. I don't know if Hendry would have been a first choice for Archie though, even if he was left sided.
  9. Really hard to say how much Lindsay is worth. I'd say he was good the first half of the season, and verging on sensational so far in the second half. He has made huge strides since January, and now probably one of the best centre halfs in Scotland. I certainly can't think of any better left sided ones. Fair play to Liam for eradicating the errors, and Archie for always sticking by him.
  10. I think we'll offer Elliott and Welsh new deals, and maybe a similar contract to Fraser as we offered Welsh after his two years out. I'm guessing Elliott will defo accept. Less sure of Welsh given midfield competition with Bannigan fit again, but I think there's a good chance he would sign on. Archie quite often says in interviews that he looks to bring in at least a couple of players each summer just to keep things fresh, so I think Amoo will be punted on that basis, and doesn't really deserve a contract anyway. Ridgers would only be kept on if Scully injury is worse than expected, but I don't think he'd want to stay anyway. We'll probably have a couple of defenders to sign in the summer given Lindsay will probably be off and I think Keown will have aspirations of a bigger move.
  11. Christie Elliott is our version of John O'Shea/Park Ji Sung from that Manchester United team. He's maybe not your first choice, but guaranteed to play well in 20 odd games a season, and never lets you down when he comes in. I'd be pretty happy going forward with Dumbuya, Booth and Elliott as our full backs for the next few seasons. Penrice will probably come into the mix at some point too actually.
  12. We should probably be hoping for the opposite. There's no way he's staying with us another two years if he keeps up this form. We're best trying to get as much money for him as possible and a call up will help.
  13. Cerny is a brilliant keeper and probably our most important player. I seriously doubt we'd have gone through that run at the start of the season of conceding last minute goals if he was fit. I think it's as much his organising as his actual goalkeeping that make the difference. You can see how much Danny Devine's performances have improved with him back. He's a pretty poor kicker, but he more than makes up for it with everything else he offers.
  14. Thought it was interesting that he said there were offers in for two players, and then added that there was the possibility of getting a second player in. I'm guessing both bids are for a striker, and then the other player will be somewhere else on the park. Logically I'm guessing it would be a winger, with Elliott probably being regarded as a full back till the end of the season as we only have three. We're pretty stacked everywhere else, so an upgrade on Amoo would be nice.
  15. This seems to have come from an "agent" on Twitter, who I don't even think is a real person. Doubt it's true. Doesn't look like he's had a team for 18 months.
  16. I'd say Fraser's two performances against County at Firhill that season were the best - and worst - I've seen of any of our players since we got promoted. Really is an incredible talent on his day but a complete liability when he's not in the mood, and he was absolutely hopeless in that 3-1 game.
  17. I think Bannigan is also pretty much undroppable as well. Archie has nearly always played him when fit. We have absolutely ridiculous options in central midfield when everyone's fit; Osman, Bannigan, Fraser, Welsh, Edwards, Barton. I'd say pretty much all of them on the top of their game would probably be regulars for a bottom 6 team.
  18. I don't think putting Penrice in a shaky defence right now would be good for his development. He didn't look upto it defensively yet in the few games I've seen him, even though I think he's a cracking prospect. Thought Booth looked much more like it yesterday. Amazing how effective his one-twos with Lawless are.
  19. I like Lindsay. I think he'll be a good defender at this level in the future - if he isn't already - and is a real goal threat at set pieces. I would just like there to be the situation like last season, where we could drop him for a few games if he was playing poorly. I don't think keeping the current back four playing all the time - regardless of form - is a good idea.
  20. Big season for Fraser. Admittedly been unlucky with injuries, but has contributed very little since his electric start to the 2014/15 season. I can remember him playing well in a 2-2 game against Dundee United that season, and in the 5-2 victory at Kilmarnock last season, but not much else apart from that. He's technically got it, but doesn't offer enough defensively and shoots from ridiculous positions at times. I think with Osman, Bannigan and Barton all certain to be here at the start of next season, he'll need to up it to push ahead of Welsh in the reckoning and get a new deal(if that's what he wants).
  21. Two or three other clubs had already said they were interested in Hateley, so I presume that's why Archie thought it was fine to be truthful. If we were the only club interested in a player I doubt he'd have revealed that.
  22. I'd say Miller has been replaced and Gordon is potentially an upgrade. Danny Devine could be as good a player as Frans. The main issue is that we haven't replaced Seaborne. We need a big, physical centre half, and I'm sure Archie will sign one within the next fortnight or so.
  23. It was a brilliantly worked goal. Lawless was key. Lindsay's pass to him wasn't the best, but it helped draw in their player, who was taken out the game by Lawless quickly flicking it round the corner. When everyone's fit, some of the linkup between our left footers Booth, Lawless, Bannigan, Erskine and Doolan should be brilliant. The first touch by Erskine made it as well. He touched it with his right instead of his left, which completely sold the defender. Knew it was in the moment it left his foot after that.
  24. We regularly played three "defensive" midfielders in Banzo, Osman and Welsh last season, so at least it's an improvement. I think we have to pick Welsh and Wilson with Osman out. Edwards just doesn't offer enough protection if he was beside Welsh, who isn't overly defensive himself.
  25. Archie was hinting in a video on the official site that Cerny should be starting in this one, and was actually fit enough for last night but they didn't want to risk him on the plastic pitch. It's obviously a huge plus as I think him and Osman - who Archie suggested should be back in for the Caley game - played a bigger part in our good defensive record last season than the actual central defenders. Think we should win this comfortably. Hopefully Lindsay and Devine get another game together, and we manage to work out our best team for the first game. Sounds like Amoo and Edwards both played well yesterday, but there's a good chance only one of them will start against Caley.
