Firstly we don't have a huge fan base being in Glasgow due to the competition. Not much we can do about that. It has been mentioned that we have lost good players since promotion and not replaced like for like. So downsizing on quality may be a factor. But I think a big factor is the fact we don't compete/ challenge in this league. Fans like a winning team or certainly one that is playing for something other than survival. St Mirren have had a bounce in season tickets this year as the fans expect to challenge, getting skelpt every other week turns fans away. Someone mentioned in the Celtic thread that they would rather play St Mirren, Falkirk etc rather than Celtic and I think many feel the same. If we were in a play off, firhill would be full. Something to play for and all that. If we got to a cup semi / final. How many would we take?

Are you at the wind up? The objective was damage limitation and you know this how? Did Archie or one of the players contact you and tell you our aim was to keep the score down? Aye right. If it is the objective of the club not to try against Celtic then the fans are due a refund. Imagine trying something different to get a different result. Maybe just play our game to our strengths. And how much better than us do you need to be for us not to try?

I'm normally a fan of your work LSR, but this is utter baws. No game at home in our league is a no win. Celtic are better than us in every position but so are Aberdeen. So we just concede the games against them and move on as well? These are no lose games if you give it a go.

Kinda calmed down. If I had seen the line up before taking my seat in the an stand I may have gone home. That starting line up was never going to trouble Celtic. Stevo is not and never will be a centre forward. How many times has Archie tried this and how many times has it worked? The Einstein saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result comes to mind. Celtic play a high tempo pressing game and it forces mistakes. We play 11 men behind the ball and give you space and time well into our half game. I assume trying to make it difficult to pass through us. It worked to a certain extent I suppose, but when we will the ball we have nothing up the park. We simply give it back and then it starts again. And so it did, again and again. Celtic are too good for this and will break you down eventually. Maybe we should try and play against them, you know maybe have a forward on the pitch and try to create a chance or 2. Give them something to think about and not have VVD strolling forward as if he owned the place. That starting line up was a joke, plain and simple. Some people around me were saying we looked good towards the end. Well yee fekin ha. Game over, they are not out of first gear, leaving 1 on 1 at the back now and then and we are happy to create a chance or 2. We are a premier league club at home. Go for it from the start. As a side issue we desperately need someone to play on the left of midfield. I’m sure all those armchair fans are not going to be queuing down Firhill Street next week on that back of that performance. Live on national telly and set up line that... total sh1te. Maybe I’ve not calmed down after all.

The reason I asked about the Celtic fans in the main stand is that I recall away fans letting off a smoke bomb in the main stand last year (it may have been Motherwell, apologies if it was someone else). Anyone recall this?

Is this a fact, confirmed by the police and whoever issues the safety certificate that no Celtic fans can enter the main stand. Or is it the same logic that no under 16s can go into the north stand, except they can. The main stand / North stand will have Celtic fans in it this weekend.

I'm a big fan of Gary, but wide left does not look the best use of his talent.

I certainly wouldn't ditch him after 1 game.

Just in from the game and probably doesn't merit its own thread. A few first teamers in our 11 and the same for St Johnstone with Murray Davidson playing. The big trialist looked good at times but sold a very short pass back that led to their second goal. I missed the 5th goal but it seems he made another mistake for it. Positives from the game, the keeper Cullen made a few fine saves. Seaborne came through 90 mins. Leyden looks a decent prospect. Nisbet took his goal very well from a great Fraser pass who rather strangely played wide left. Docherty was on and out of the game. Negatives for me, Stevo played at less than half pace. There was a couple of scouts sitting in front of me who said the positive was there was no need to wash his strip... Declan McDaid. I'd expect him to put a stamp on a game with being exposed so often to first team football. Minging. Sand dancer with no final ball or real goal threat. Had the beating of the full back all first half and hardly took him on. Got past once and shot straight at the keeper. He needs to sort this out. Plenty of effort from Fraser, but too much shoot on sight. Difficult to be too critical as we had plenty of passing across the box but no real delivery or threat in the box. Other than that we looked better when Stevo and Fraser went off. Neil McLaughlin looked good for the time he was on. With 3 or 4 first team players in the team we still only managed to name 5 subs. I suppose this shows the players of an age who have been promoted to the 1st team but we seem to be lacking numbers. Not a criticism as such, more an observation. Despite the score I enjoyed the game but some senior players need to have a word with themselves.

For the match day we need an anthem. Hibs have sunshine on leith, the old Rangers had simply the best, Celtic have just can't get enough. A song that gets the place going at the start of each half. Any suggestions?

Always hard to judge these games but Hendry looked comfortable. Decent at the back. Got options in midfield. Need a striking option quickly.

Just caught that. Is it just me or does that seem low?

It has been reported on Twitter (I know) that we have sold 1322 season tickets. If true we are struggling for a fan base. I know there are people who go every week and don't buy a ST. If it's a financial decision, can the club look at a pay up option over several months without costing a bomb - not checked to see the difference. I know we have discussed this before, but how do we get more bums on seats and how can we improve the match day experience to financially benefit the club?

The chat today at thr Firhill cup was that he is off to Dundee Utd. Dunno how true, but many mentioned it.
