  1. Sadly the lack of aerial presence that causes us problems when defending set pieces is also our undoing when we have attacking set plays. As has been said above the balls in from corners were getting past the first man so it wasn't a delivery problem.
  2. Nothing soft about the penalty, in fact it reminded me of the Scottish Cup last year v Dunfy. As soon as the striker is goalside of the last defender you cannot catch him in any way or you'll be off, double trouble if he goes down in the area. The real sickener is that they score two late goals and the press get to write it up as a comprehensive victory.....when it was anything but.
  3. Very lucky only to be 1 down but we are just 1 down. We can still get a result here if we sort it out in the dressing room at half-time. C'MON THISTLE!!!!
  4. There are monumental gaps in our defense every time they attack. Going forward we are just lumping it.What a turnaround in our performances since Aug/Sept.
  5. I went to Firhill from the age of 11 without an adult (and likewise away from the age of 13) and don't remember my age being a problem. If any kid,and indeed any adults, are behaving badly they should be tackled by the stewards but lets be careful not to class all kids who turn up without an adult as troublemakers. Likewise kids who are there with their parents aren't exempt from needing a telling off sometimes.
  6. I remember as a young kid (around 1976) seeing Ronnie score a 25 yard free-kick for Celtic against us at Parkhead. Was there that day with my Selik supporting uncle and sneaked in my Jags scarf before proudly putting it on right in the middle of the Jungle (the natives weren't happy).
  7. Who was refused permission to speak to any other clubs due to the way football contracts worked in the 1970s/1980s. It's very different now.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-24578915 An amazing feat from a true superfan. Do we have a Jags fan of similar dedication?
  9. Thank Christ we have Archie in charge and not the knicker wetters on here that would advocate signing a player that has been disruptive at every club he has played at ...and also has been incapable of scoring anything near the level he is capable of for at least 3 years now. Football is about so much more than what you did 5-10 years ago. Christ almighty he hasn't kicked a ball for nearly a year despite every club in Scotland crying out for a goalscorer, doesn't that tell you all something about his 'value' to football?
  10. I think the key issue here is how we reacted in the days of terracing to 'away' fans in the 'home' end. It wasn't an uncommon sight to turn up on OF days to find that the area behind the goal had been turned over to their fans that had bought tickets 'illegally' for the home end. Of course we all wanted them thrown out, not least because the tickets said that fans in the wrong end would be refused admission, but of course the club and the police never did so - despite them turning up in full colour with strips and scarves on show. However the terracing allowed a floating segregation line to be setup and maintained and frustrating as it was for us fans I could understand why the people in charge allowed them to remain. The days of all-seated grounds make this issue a very different matter. Now you are more likely to have these opposition fans sit there in plain clothes seeming to blend in but making it quite obvious to anyone nearby that they aren't a Jag. This is more likely to result in trouble than back in the 70s/80s. When we played Rangers in the cup a few years ago the police setup a small segregated end at the north of the JH Stand and made a point of moving any of their fans to that end of the stand who were stupid enough to make it obvious they had bought tickets intended for the home fans. The major issue here, which has been raised by our club and the authorities, is of course their claim that Celtic fans cannot be housed in the Main Stand due to safety concerns - quite simply they cannot be trusted in there - so what happens when some turn up on matchday with tickets for the Main Stand home end? They can hardly move them to a 'safe area' of the Main Stand as that stand isn't safe to house them.
  11. Willie McGuire..... .....signed from Airdrie and everyone hated him. Played badly most weeks and everyone hated him. Scored a hat-trick and everybody loved him. Went back to playing badly and everyone hated him again.
  12. They've already rejected Celtic minded requests for minutes, correspondence and details of committee members so the rejection of this request is no surprise.
  13. Years ago I visited Feyenoord and their players trained twice a day, the morning session was physical work but the afternoon was all ballwork. It's no real surprise to me that continental players have better technical ability when they dedicate double the time of our players to their skills.
  14. And similarly have you personally contacted the club to give them the opportunity to address this issue?
  15. I've got to admit this is one of the things I dislike most about our game just now. What annoys me most is when a player goes down as his team is on the attack and they play on only to demand the opposition put the ball out as soon as the attack breaks down. Too often the ref will stop the play once the attack breaks down if the opposition don't put the ball out of play.
  16. The thing that always strikes me about these draws is how often the same names come up month after month. I know loads of people, with memberships at all levels, that have won nothing in all the years they've been playing. Contrast that with one winner this month who in the last year or so appears to have won 2x£100 prizes, a signed shirt and a table at hospitality. While I don't think there is anything dishonest going on I'm not confident that the system to identify winners is actually giving every ticketholder the same chance of success.
  17. Each to their own. Perth population - 137,520 Inverness population - 72,000 Glasgow population - 598,830 Are our crowds 4 to 6 times greater than the clubs you are having a go at? Is around 4,000 home fans reasonable in a city with a population of 600k? What do our crowds say about us in your view of 'Premier' class crowds? Knowing our history there is a real chance that we will have home crowds lower than both those at St Johnstone and ICT this weekend, I'd hate for some snotty nosed fan from another club to use that as a tool to have a dig at us.
  18. Are you really as simple/arrogant as this comment makes you sound? For the record our own crowds are sh1te when you consider we have over 1million people living on our doorstep. Given that historically our crowds don't compare well to teams of a similar size I can't really understand why you make snooty comments each week about other teams crowds. Rather than judge teams by their following why not applaud them for their achievements? For example St Johnstone crowds are awful but I would love for the Jags to achieve what they have over the last 12 months. Livi & Hamilton have terrible crowds but their youth policies are amazing and their home produced players populate international squads. And as for your fortnightly inclusion of Rangers away crowds in grounds of limited capacity...what's the point of that?

  20. Thank Christ, I thought the blue stripe meant I'd been given a season ticket for Cappielow instead!!
  21. And the ticket I have is white witha blue strip down the rhs ....... what's that all about?
