  1. Disagree with the Red Monkey entirely. White flag was hoist with the starting line-up and that transmitted to the stands as well as to the team if you ask me. Celtic have had many poor results immediately after Euro games. We were at home. We should be far more positive than we were. Points about Doolan have already been shot down. Anyway, two important games coming up. Hopefully we will be better against Killie than last time. See you there.
  2. According to this wiki page, he is on loan. Could be joke editing though. Time and the official site will tell. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikael_Mandron
  3. So he can perform in Lanarkshire, but he has a lot to prove elsewhere.
  4. Hearts won the same number of points as us the year they were relegated. The young players they have retained are more experienced and better than they were and they have strengthened otherwise. Neilsen also seems to be a far better manager than Locke as well as being supported by Levein and a significantly higher budget than all bar Celtic and maybe Aberdeen. Dundee finished top six last season and Hearts won the Championship by a mile with far stronger opposition. I am sure they will finish top six.
  5. Excellent. As an Anderston boy, I must be eligible. Bring it on....
  6. Returning from Anderston? You have lost me! I would settle for a point if we are a goal down with 5 mins to go, but right now there is everything to play for and given the results we had last season against the Accies, we are well capable of winning (though I accept we don't know much about their new signings).
  7. We are certainly more effective, but crowd figures for the home gate implies that people liked the good football.
  8. I think the pre-season games show we have a good solid squad, and there is promise among the crop of young players who are part of it. However, we are lacking a real creator or goal scorer that might lift things a bit. Two seasons ago, there was the lift of promotion and the squad being enhanced a bit as a result. Last season, we signed Ryan Stevenson reasonably early and then picked up guys like Abdul and Freddie later. I am hoping Amoo can make a contribution above that we have seen so far. He has great pace and got a few decent crosses in against Wigan, but we need to get behind defences and move the ball forward faster. So far, it looks like we still need someone to fill that role. I am confident that Doolz will score goals and that Nisbet can too, but we need to create the opportunities first. A decent result at the Acciea would get us off to a good start and even though they finished above us last season, in none of the fixtures I saw, dis I think they were better. Mon the Jags....
  9. Agree we need alternative option in attack, but more importantly, we need to move the ball forward faster and get behind the opposition to create the chances for the forwards.
  10. Agreed. Very composed throughout and a good turn of pace. David Wilson very good also. Nisbet looked decent but missed the opportunity to make his mark when he hesitated when he should have shot. Did well with his back to goal with some decent first-time lay-offs. Jordan Leyden came on late but no chance for him to show much. Lawless won MotM. Probably correctly. Only negative for me was that Gary Fraser looked a bit off the pace when he came on. Hope he ups his game as he is still probably the best passer in the squad when on his game. Good workout. Same again on Saturday will do nicely. See that Rotherham beat Dundee 1-0 tonight.
  11. Jack Hendry looking good at CH. Welsh looking useful also despite an injury scare at one point. Playing some nice stuff but not really getting behind the Wigan defence. Amoo is fast and has had a few decent crosses in but no great chances at either end. Welsh hit the post with a low 25yd shot. Decent performance so far. Certainly no passengers on show.
  12. A "giant Scottish defender". Must have put some beef on playing for Wigan reserves. Best of luck to him.
  13. Aye. Better now. Thanks for your concern. I was just worried about the panic merchants. I didn't want them to think they were lonely. That could have resulted in very negative outcomes. Hopefully they have calmed themselves.....
  14. Quite right guys.... Archie is useless and we should laugh and join in with the ritual annual diminution and laughter fest. Gawd knows how we have been promoted and retained top Division status two seasons in a row with a hopeless article like that in charge.... Clueless, so he is..... So lucky that all those clubs with greater resources turned out to be managed by total ***** who were even worse than Archie himself. Despite the otherwise greater squad strength. Amazing really.....
  15. And if they bite the wrong bait, they will presumably land elsewhere... Archie has a "some good, some bad" signing record. Pretty much like everyone else, really. I agree we will get players in. Hopefully there will be more of the former than latter. Time will tell, and there is nothing we can do to significantly influence things. On a tangent, surprised to see Billy McKay already heading for the Wigan exit door so soon. Caldwell having a significant clear out by the look of the BBC gossip. I suppose serial relegation has that effect.
  16. You beat me to it. Realism is to be encouraged. Poisoned negativity ignoring the facts is total tedium.
  17. That is a common view among supporters of The Rangers FC at my work. Heard a bit of Off the Ball recently and it was suggested by one of the participants (current player I think) that players contracts should be 12 months as having zero income for a month (or more) is a problem. I'm sympathetic to that but it would effectively just be the same wage getting spread out longer as there is no more cash in the game to increase playing wages by 1/11th.
  18. True, but I was kind of doped up most of the time back then. This time I will be able to remember it....
  19. I trust Archie, but things don't always go according to plan. Two summers ago we signed John Baird as a striking option and he barely played after the opening few games. Last season we had Ryan Stevenson not really playing in position. We need Taylor or someone as good as him to complement Doolz.
  20. As we all know, that is unless you happen to have been liquidated and call yourself Rangers instead of your real name..... I think the Herald has pimped their STs every year since their inception. I admit I no longer buy the Herald, but I have never seen any other club benefit from free advertising and promotion in this manner from a national newspaper. Speaks volumes for their total lack of editorial integrity, at least in relation to fitba journalism.
  21. I think it is a great idea, I can't afford it either, but combining the ideas of the Lady and Clydebank Jag, it could still happen for me...... Of course it could be hijacked by egomaniacs with no concern for Thistle at all in an open auction and we could end up being used for (relatively) cheap publicity.
  22. Got an email today from ttl saying my order had been completed. Hopefully it will arrive before departure for Germany!
  23. I see Stevie Smith, ex-Sevco has signed a three year deal with Killie. Sevco has-beens appear to be finding a new home. Boyd and Smith in, and McCulloch targeted. Can't say any of those give me cause for concern, though Boyd may hit form again. Time will tell, I dare say.
