  1. Hopefully he will sign and WeAreThistle will sponsor his top. Get over to Player Sponsorship topic and pledge £10 in support.
  2. Morning all Thanks for your pledges. We are now well on the way to a second top. Hopefully we will get there before kick off. I have emailed the club but don't expect the office will be working today. I expressed interest in McDaid home, Lawless away and the vacant (for now) strikers top. Let's get some more votes in. As some people have kindly put in for both tops, please indicate which top your vote is for. JUST FOUR MORE PLEDGES NEEDED FOR THE SECOND TOP. Nice work guys & gals.

Pledge away people. Last season some people put in £20 or £30. If any first toppers want in for more please post 'In 2'
  4. To summarise, we now have 15 pledges, enough for 1 top. This is about fundraising so let's so how much we can get. 2 tops? Those who are in up to now. If so, I'll drop down to 16th. First fifteen will compete for first top and we'll see what happens after that. Last season WAT members raised £490 for player sponsorship so let's have those pledges girls & boys.
  5. I'm sure we can sort out the fine print on this a bit later, Jaggernaut. Important to get agreement on who to sponsor as options are already limited. Then we'll have six months to debate winning.
  6. Agree with this. I and many other JH supporters wanted the NS to stay red and yellow. Not for the benefit of NS supporters but for the vocal support that the NS brings to the atmosphere at games.
  7. Rather than pulling a name out of a virtual hat, I propose that I run a score prediction competition for the post-split games. Winner gets the top.
  8. Here is a list of available tops. As you can see, not many left. Need to vote now. I will collect money via Paypal once it is confirmed with the club. 9. The band that were due to play outside Firhill on August 15 have had to pull out due to other commitments.
  10. I understand that a date has been set for the first experiment. Not sure what else is planned for the day but a band have been booked. August 15 v Killie. Don't know if the plan is to play on the pitch.
  11. Just back from my hols in south of France. I've obviously missed so much. To save me having to wade through the last week's posts, how about a five word round up of thistle news. Thanks
  12. It's not a cheaper priced ticket pro rata. It's a way of getting people who are not able to get to all games a chance to pay up front to boost Archie's coffers. Increasing your product range to widen your customer support.
  13. So somewhere between Hooray, at last somebody with communications expertise. and Bloody Hell!, the club have appointed someone to communicate with us. am I getting warm?
  14. Deals happen when they happen. I'm sure Archie is working hard and news will come. Other work at the club should not be put on hold in the meantime. It would be odd if news of the arrival of a Communications professional was kept from us. I welcome this appointment and I trust Archie.
  15. It is a common refrain here that the club is run in an amateurish way. This feeling manifests itself largely through its communication. I think we need a communications professional. Her appointment will have no bearing of this season's playing budget but if she does a good job it will, hopefully, improve the playing budget for next season. I hope her brief includes giving TAG a kick up the arse and getting new batteries for the PA system.
  16. From what I saw of him last season, he would be better of if he could get a pay-per-moan-at-the-ref contract.
  17. I think Archie is being technically correct. I'm sure that one of the players he is looking at to replace Taylor, after his loan, is Taylor. However, money talks and I'm sure he is in demand.
  18. So, they look as good in a photo as they do... erm...in a photo
  19. From the interview he seems like a nice guy, articulate and handled the inane questions well.
  20. They are newspapers with high editorial standards. They would never do anything like that...
  21. Afraid not. Time might be playing tricks on one of us. Wouldn't like to say who.

    Metz

On July 8 I will be boarding a bus early in the morning. Destined for France. Just a coincidence and on this occasion the bus is only going as far as Edinburgh Airport. 20 years ago the bus was going all the way to Metz. When I purchased my ticket for the bus, I was told that it was just an hour from the ferry landing. I never bothered to check. The journey through northern France seems interminable but what a sight greeted us as we drove into the town that sunny afternoon. Jags fans f@~king everywhere. What a day was had. As we left the terracing, after the match, the Metz fans were waiting for us. As we walked down the steps towards them they began to chant "Scotland, Scotland". The parade of Jags and Metz fans back into town is something I will never forget. And one more memory. The players came into the bar we were in after the match. Somebody handed Nicky Walker a pint which slipped through his fingers and smashed on the floor. Who'd be a goalkeeper? How was your day?
