Interesting line up - good to see the youngsters getting a game regardless of circumstances; even if we lose it will hopefully help their development. Hope Wilson gets some game time too from the bench. 2-0 Thistle.

In an ideal world pricing would be something like: Behind goals (standing) - £15 JH stand (sections 1-3 & 7-9) - £20 JH stand (sections 4-6) - £22 Main Stand (redeveloped family stand) - U16's free, family ticket (2 adults and as many kids as you want) £35, adults £20. But as said, it would likely lose the club revenue and would be a lot more difficult to administer than the simply "one rip off price" policy.

I didn't rate Christie much when he joined. He's won me over; great attitude and does exactly what is asked of him. Glad we have him.

Cheers for the update, albeit I think this misses the point a little. I think it's great that the funds are used for youth development - in my opinion this should continue indefinitely - however it would be great to know what they're being used for within youth development. Do we have any targets for this funding - i.e. £X will find a youth team for a year, £Y will buy new kits etc... and targets for what we hope to achieve and how we're progressing against that? It may be a small thing but I think if the club was announcing this at the same time as announcing the prizes it might nudge a few people to buy a ticket who usually wouldn't - it simply makes the contribution feel a little more real. Happy to be ignored - I'm mindful it's very easy to say these things when it's not me doing the work around it (which you do very well by the way)

Genuinely, why? What evidence do you have that this would be a good move?

I don't see what the problem is celebrating a goal in the exact same way as we do currently (as yoda jag summarises above) and when it's died down and they announce the scorer doing this surname thing. They can both happen, it doesn't have to be one or the other. I think people are looking too hard for problems with this - like the North Stand move, if this hits a critical mass then people will join in. Is it too much to ask that we give it a try?

How do they feel involved if only they do it and noone else joins in? Surely that's still being seperate...

I'm even happier now - didn't realise it was the OF game that weekend so will go to our game on the Friday and try and book a weekend away with the missus for the Saturday night.

Jeffries will retire. McGlynn will struggle to get a good job given his failure at Livingston - may be a decent shout for Ayr however. Danny Lennon would be a good shout for any of these job; not sure he'll want them but Dunfermline (if it doesn't just get handed to Potter/McCann) would be a decent project.

I struggle to see Marko as a manager but reckon he could be a very good coach - would be happy to see him at Thistle in a coaching capacity and, given that Archie knows him, would imagine it could happen if Archie felt that he would add to the management team.

He hadn't played much football before joining us - I'm sure they're just niggling injuries as he gets up to speed. Doubt it's anything to worry about.

A good point made above that this could be seen as a statement of our intent and may help convince a few soon-to-be-out-of-contract players to re-sign...

That's absolutely fantastic news - didn't think we'd have a chance of holding onto him past Christmas never mind an 18 month extension. Great business - Archie continues to vindicate his policy of taking his time in the transfer market to make the right signings...

Does anyone really care? I'd much rather Archie kept a low profile and we quietly went about our business moving up the league. When we make top 6/win a trophy Sportscene will probably give a shit, until then it's their loss.

If you've got to let people know you're in charge it's because you're not really fit to be in charge. It's a shame that one of our 1971 goalscorers (he of the iconic commentary) has sullied his reputation so badly.

On that point, the fact Kenny Arthur didn't start that game, never mind come on as a sub, remains the single most shameful incident of my time supporting Thistle.

Jackie developed a squad and ethos that got us playing great football - some of the best I've ever seen us play and better than what we play under Archie. Archie got us winning and got us promotion; he's also kept us in the Premiership. This has required substituting some style for more substance. If we still had Jackie I reckon we'd still be playing better football but probably in a lower division - we may have come up last season but we wouldn't have won the league in the season we did - Archie made that happen. Personally I'm delighted with Archie - he has his faults but, being realistic, I can't think of who better there is out there. And it's refreshing having a proper Thistle legend in charge of the club.

For those who want Archie sacked, do any of you care to mention a manager who you realistically think we could get who would be better? I genuinely can't think of any.
