  1. Great day and a lovely sunny walk along the canal with the wife and kids after...sorry it's late but just a wee mention to the kind gentleman who gave me his extra complimentary ticket for the Jackie Husband stand before kick off. Thanks again!
  2. Same here in Whitburn....I'll be checkin for updates before we leave. Horrible through here.
  3. Happy new year to all Jags fans. Just a few words on Devine. He has had his critics but the boy done well yesterday...cant remember him doing much wrong. Thought he was excellent.
  4. His goal against Aberdeen when we went second in the league is etched in my memory as is header to get our first in 2-1 win against rangers. Another thing i remember vividly...Bertie Auld quoted in the papers 'i will never sell any player to another Scottish team'. Wee sh*te did though.
  5. Couldn't make the game yesterday as was workin, so I've sent the money now Phil. Thanks very much for all your hard work!
  6. Hi, just to say pay my dues after the last game of the season. I'll pay by paypal. Got your email a weeks back so I'll pay to the details on there. Thanks again Bowneboys , really appreciate all the work you've done on this!
  7. Thanks so much for this. I wish ma Dad had been alive so I could have shown him this. Jimmy, Willie Sharp & Johnny McKenzie were his 3 heroes. What a great shot from behind the goals. Heard so many stories of Jimmy nearly bursting the net wi free kicks it was good to finally see one.
  8. Totally agree John. lets not forget the handball goal in the cup tie and a few other episodes too. workmate is a utd fan and said on Friday 'ur no still wantin revenge are yous?' A resounding yes from me.
  9. Really impressed Stu...(or should I say Columbo)...goin explain how you came to get the game and result from that picture. It's a Saturday ,McKenzie...might be scoring....but how did you get the game based on the limited info in that pic?
  10. I know it's Johnny McKenzie but for all the old pics I've seen I've never seen the scoreboard or the wee canopy type thing in the corner. I wasn't even sure it was Firhill at first.
  11. This looks awfy like the 4-1 game against United. Is this the famous Dan goal game? I remember it was a dull day and the strips woulda been the same ones worn.
  12. The things you remember....they played In My Own Time by Family at half time,,,,wee Johnny G was kicked off the park by them, I'm sure 2 folk died of heart attacks during the game...Alec McDonald lobbed Roughie from the 18 yard box...ball came back of the bar and straight into Roughie's arms. Rough was immense in the second half. The first half made Johnny a legend. I was up at the North End of the shed wi ma Dad right at the back and got a great view of all our goals. From that day in August for 3 months it was fantastic to be a Jags fan.
  13. Great goal. Cheers. Still like these 2 as well.
  14. yeah.....my mum worked there when she left school.......sorry....had to mention...!!
  15. That's awful...I hope not. He obviously canny be that old. I can mind of comin out of Firhill one night and guy behind me shouted 'take the baw hame wi ye Smith' coz he pretty much ran the show.
  16. Yeah, first reaction was Charlie Smith, great player.
  17. In the pic of the Denis goal...it's him Frank and Jim Brogan. Frank took the full force of Jimmy Bone's header in the nuts and buckled as Denis scored. The pic of the celebrations of the 2nd goal....I've never saw that before. Thanks!! What a jump about that was....I was only 12, .first time I ever swore in front of ma Da .......'ya f.....n beauty!!'
  18. A really moving tribute by Tom English on the BBC scotland football website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/31724881
  19. Re John Connolly...I went to to Perthshire V Whitburn Scottish Junior Cup tie as Keppoch Park...caught the first half before walking along to Firhill. Big John gave the Whitburn defence a torrid time. Won everything in the air and scored I think. Was delighted when we signed him but he didnt get a fair crack at the whip. Then as you say was killed in a car crash. Tragic. Talented big lad.
  20. IMO the only way to get anywhere near our passing game is to play Lawless every game. He has the ingenuity and pace to make passes that matter and I think with Erskine away, he's the one that matters in our passing game. We get the best out of Doolan and Higgy (and Welsh) when he's playing. I don't get why he's on the bench as much.
  21. I couldn't make the St Miren game and all I heard on the radio was how Saints came out really fast out of the traps. What I can't get my head round is.....how hard can it be in the dressing room before a match to say to our players.....look....these will be right up for this...make sure we are too...they'll be right at us from the off...we need to be sharper and faster than them....COME ON....let's get right intae this from the off!!! Ross County will no doubt be as up for this as Saints from the off....like St Mirren they will be desperate for the points and will put us under presssure..........why can't we start the game like a hurricane instead of waiting to lose a goal and then getting the finger out. Don't we want it just as bad? The players need an Alec Neil kinda talk.......every game. Whatever he says, his players always seem to be up for it from the start. Or our players dont get it until the anaesthetic wears off after 10 mins.
  22. I remember Donnelly's outrageous back heeled volley....one of the best I've ever seen...the ball rebounded out to him as he was moving away from goal and he quickly volleyed it...superb. Also John Buckley's free kick against Dundee in a 1-0 Firhill win and his great dribble at Brockville when his shot was parried by the keeper and McGlashan scored the rebound.
  23. The game at Shawfield.....it looks like Tiger McGowan and it looks awfy like Willie Sharp in the background (I know he's no been quoted on the team on a previous post but it looks like him) and of course Andy Kerr.....Ian Archer's favourite Jag.
  24. From hearing old stories I'm sure Ledgerwood (from Harthill I think) went to outside right or left at a game against Hearts at Tynecaste due to an injury during the game to someone. Someone else swapped him in goal (no subs in those days). And we won 5- 4 I think and Ledgerwood scored one. Can't mind a hearing a goalie doin that before.
