  1. Only for clubs in the same league/country.
  2. Agree totally. I stated similar on a thread a week or 2 back. Not wishing to damn the guy before he's been given a chance but I just don't see what he offers which is better than what we already have. You don't need much to be a successful striker in this division but he seems to lack even just 1 main quality that suggests he will be a success/cause teams problems. People also keep stating "he's scored one & assisted one". He couldn't miss the goal he scored, & his pass to O'Donnell he very nearly fcuked up. Anyone who has read my posts over the years will know I give everyone a chance, which I'll continue to do, I just do not see what Ecclestone brings to the table. He may work better as a front 2, where someone can run more than him or challenge for balls in the air & he looks for half chances from that other striker.
  3. Where's the best place to park? Never driven to Parkhead before.
  4. Interesting if Stevenson gets booted from the squad if that's the case, doubtful.
  5. Higgy on the bench to come on for some match fitness when we're 3-0 up & cruising.
  6. He took the ball & wasn't giving it to anyone else, O'Donnell especially looked pissed off as well as a few others.
  7. It was Stevenson & Carroll trying to hit the bar for the majority of HT. Gallacher wasn't out on the pitch at HT, he never is, as he's part of the coaching team.
  8. Fox takes forever to kick/pass/throw the ball out. By which time the other team are back in their positions & ready to defend.
  9. I'd don't think Archie will be under pressure from anyone to play Stevenson (If he's the highest earner). Any pressure will come from Archie himself I would imagine to try & prove that his signing & the terms offered were justified. There's certainly more likelihood that a player on more money will be given longer to turn his form around than someone on an lower wage.
  10. Same team for me with Frans in for Seaborne. I'd be tempted to throw Fraser in if he's fit, he was out doing some work before the match yesterday so he ca't be far away. I don't see what Ecclestone offers better than Doolan does, in the limited amount I have seen from him. He strikes me as a player who would work alot better in a forward 2.
  11. Chaplain was limited but worked his socks off, much prefer that to Stevenson.
  12. Seemed more interested in wrestling with the defenders in his cameo today. A decent cross came in & he just stood wrestling with the defender instead of trying to get his head on the ball, whereas Doolan had really put himself about (especially in the 1st half) & really seemed to unsettle the defenders. Not something you'd usually associate with Doolan but as there was more long balls today than usual (into good areas, not just hoofs up the park) he adapted well & put the defenders under pressure. It is harsh to judge him on the short time he had on the pitch but he didn't make an impact like you'd hope he might after a disappointing start to his Thistle career.
  13. All of the players that signed deals after our promotion would have been offered the same terms, I would imagine. Banzo, Muirhead, Balatoni, Welsh, Fox, Doolan + whoever else I've forgotten. McMillan is on £700pw I heard, just for an example. Do our players not get appearance, win/draw bonuses too?
  14. Still can't get signed up, no idea if I've been assigned a number automatically or what! I signed up last year when it 1st went live, then tried to login recently but couldn't, tried to create a new account & wouldn't let me.
  15. Was extremely surprised when I saw in the programme the amount of empty player sponsorship spaces. In previous years most of the 1st team has been fully sold out, with only youth players remaining largely unsponsored.
  16. It was quoted on Twitter that McFadden will earn £45k in total at St. Johnstone. That works out at around £1,400 a week, if you say there's 8 full months left of the season.
  17. It was supposed to happen earlier than this season (can't remember if it was summer of 2012 or 2013, I'm thinking 2012). Seats had been marked off as not being available to be sold for season tickets, not sure what happened.
  18. I'm not sure if this is a must win match, but I'd put it down as a must not lose one, for sure. The team picks itself if Higgy is out, I'd say... Gallacher O'Donnell Balatoni Seaborne McMillan Osman Bannigan Craigen Lawless Elliott Doolan Subs: Fox Lindsay Carroll Wilson McDaid Stevenson Ecclestone
  19. When you look at the build of Ecclestone (granted I've seen little of him) but I doubt he'll be a bigger success than McFadden would have been for us/will be for St. Johnstone. For a striker to be successful at this level they don't need to be excellent, they just need to have something other players don't. Height, strength, pace, skill, touch, intelligence. You're never going to get a player with many of them on our budget, but the squad needs to have it, he would have brought some of those skills. The decision not to sign McFadden was probably more down to the inefficiencies our current squad & that it wouldn't really suit his style of play. If we had Taylor up top, I think we might have signed him, as he had the pace to make runs that could be spotted by McFadden.
  20. Most refs can't implement simple rules that they've studied for years, so I find it unlikely they can spot a decent player...Or maybe that's why they can't do a good job, cos they're too busy seeing what players are the best!
  21. He took a wage cut at Hearts latterly putting him on £1.5k pw, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was on close to that figure.
  22. Craigen over Stevenson every day of the week for me. Craigen has had some terrific assists in his time at Thistle, he's a good young player and with a run of games, I've every faith he'll come good.
  23. Last season we looked like a team that could/should have been in the top 6 (had the team capitalised on the many chances created & winning positions squandered), that seems a distant memory so far this season. We should, however, have more points than we currently do due to the points we have thrown away, despite not playing great. So it's a difficult one, & is too early, to judge
  24. I know not aimed at me but a 3-5-2 formation is something I had thought about at the start of the season, but I couldn't see it working with Stevenson in the team. With him off form & Fraser injured, it could work now. A rather strange formation due to the players & trying to fit them into their best position, but it should make us more solid defensively while allowing our best attacking players to do their thing (with good support from RWB & LWB). ..................................Gallacher ...............McMillan.....Seaborne.....Balatoni O'Donnell..................................................Carroll ........................Osman.....Bannigan ...............................................Higginbotham ................Lawless ...............................Doolan If we had Taylor up front (or similar) it really would help us with his additional strength & pace. Doolan is a great player, but he struggles without a partner I feel.
  25. I think it's fairly certain that McCall will not be returning to Firhill in any capacity.
