  1. I understand the views expressed re the 2/4 fixture split and the unwelcome financial and other impacts on us, but a nagging doubt about the club protest is gnawing away at me. Surely these are just 2 football teams among 12 and should not be special cases? Therefore you have to take the good or bad luck of the draw. In complaining, are we not perpetuating the myth that these 2 clubs have some inherent superiority and we have to bow down to them and be grateful for their financial largesse? I agree totally that Celtic being allowed to postpone their fixture against us is ridiculous.
  2. Reykjaviked Ronaldo's hopes of a 100% record
  3. Hope he finds goal scoring Azeezy as Kris Doolan.
  4. .....pro Partick mori. Now that is true devotion to your team.
  5. Even the Beatles sang about him:- "I believe Iniesta day"
  6. The amazing Mr A Archibald is operating under the radar even before radar has been invented. Meanwhile all the talk of the penny broadsheets is of Mr D King jetting in by Sopwith Camel.
  7. Signing a pyramid would give us shape. Build from a foundation of square passes with neat triangles up top.
  8. Hal Robson Kanu goal for Wales carbon copy of Christie Elliot v Airdrie. Welsh goal celebration was a bit more restrained.
  9. ^Post 4 above^ A 14 team Premiership with a 6--8 split. Thank you, Mr Doncaster!
  10. Yes, big Freddie moving on is a pity.
  11. Must be the best timed and situated friendly ever. I am on holiday in Crail (only 25 miles away) that week! Reminds me of the time we were on holiday on the west coast of County Limerick and realised that Thistle were playing Glentoran in Belfast. Ireland was a lot wider and longer than we had anticipated and it was a colossal drive on slow roads. Fortunately Trigger McLean squeezed in a late equaliser (it was not really a proper goal as it did not hit the back of the net) to give us some reward for writing off a whole day of our lives.
  12. Would Dick not be more interested in a move to Montrose which would make him the first person to manage all the teams in the Angus Quadrangle?
  13. Are you sure you have got the right sport here? I thought Vladimir Putin was the Russian scrum half.
  14. What happened? Has Templeton been carpeted?
  15. Can see why L-I-B would oppose the signing of Dame Peggy Ashcroft. Such a distinguished titled lady would put her in the shade.
  16. The home dressing room should be named in honour of Ricky and Chico.
  17. Bad egg may be a little harsh, but he has definitely gone off the boil. Not one to be poached.
  18. Running into rather than on to the pitch conjures up an interesting picture of being swallowed up by the ground and disappearing.
  19. I think I would take a cup win combined with narrowly not gaining promotion, as has happened with Hibs. Sunshine over Maryhill. You can look back on a reasonably successful though ultimately disappointing league campaign with the expectation of going one better next season. That is quite different from a cup win combined with a relegation which sets us on a downward slide with no certainty as to how far down the slope we will go before we can hammer in the piton to stop us falling further.
  20. I remember the young Derek Lyle scoring his first goal to win the game for us at Palmerston. It was a vital win as I think I am right in saying that it finally lifted us off the foot of the Division 2 table after a start to the season similar to the one just past. Maybe a sliding doors moment. A draw or a loss that day and the rot may have set in and taken us down to Division 3 from where recovery might have proved impossible. So I will always be a little bit grateful to Del Boy. Really stretching the memory here. Did George Rowe of Queen of the South miskick, allowing Lyle to nick the ball off him and round the keeper and score? I do recall it was a real "fans' goal" and one of the best celebrated ever!
  21. Should we be too unhappy about another plastic pitch? Our record last season on plastic pitches was won 3 drawn 1 lost 0. 9-3 to us overall (sorry for recalling bad memories of that particular scoreline).
  22. I hope that this is not Frexit.
  23. Excellent stats my friend, but perhaps it is worth mentioning our DoublOOns, the players with a double O in their surnames. Kris DOOlan, David AmOO and Calum BOOth finished first, second and equal fourth in the top goal scorers list and between them contributed 22 goals, more than half of our total for the season. I have spoken to Archie and explained how this should inform his recrOOtment for the coming campaign, and accordingly I can exclOOsively reveal our intended starting line up for the first match of the nyOO season (in goalkeeper plus 4-4-TOO formation), Some old fans' favourites return to the club and a fyOO veterans and controversial names are in there alongside the big money signings, but hopefully the Firhill rafters will sOOn be ringing to the tyOOn of Hey JOOde. Marc POOm Allan MOOre Jim GOOdwin Glen LOOvens Calum BOOth David AmOO Wayne ROOney Adam ROOney David GOOdwillie Vyaschlev MOOc Kris DOOlan
