  1. As we are all aware the south terrace (the bing) is a bit of a mess. I don't think we are going to kid ourselves that there is the money and/or demand for a new stand, however as part of a work project I have put something together for a bit of fun. It is perhaps slightly ambitious, the curved glass spaceframe roof is not going to be cheap, nevertheless that is my vision for the John Lambie Stand.
  2. What stand you in mate? The letter that came with my main stand replacement for usual north stand place requested that on this occasion we sit (stand) in allocated seats. I don't really care either way but some consistancy would be nice. I don't expect the main stand to be much more than half full anyway unless Celtic fans start buying tickets for home support areas.
  3. Sorry to disappoint you but that wasn't me or anyone around me.
  4. I was standing at the back ( top row behind the seats) I wasn't in someone elses seat, I was standing on the last terrace behind everyone, it's not often I'll say this but there was some almighty bellends amongst the support today. If you are standing up blocking the view for those behind then fair enough if they tell you to sit down, people sitting in front of me telling me to '"f*** off and sit in my seat" riiiight...
  5. Shit attendance was expected, £18 a ticket is a joke, it's no wonder attendances across Scotland are so poor. Just for a wee comparison, I was in Munich in March and watched TSV 1860 in the Allianz Arena for 14 euros, I was able to drink proper German beer in the stadium at 3 euros a pint and the ticket also got me free transport anywhere in the city on matchday. Also the atmosphere was sensational, one of the best I have ever witnessed. We are getting it badly wrong in Scotland.
  6. I was looking at the ticket website last night and it was showing around 150 seats taken in the North Stand which has suddenly jumped to nearly 600. Would love that figure to be accurate but seems very high, wasn't there usually about 350 average season tickets last year including those whose allocated seat is in the JHS? 550ish allocated NS season tickets plus PATG and JHS punters opting for NS would see nearly 1000 average in the North Stand which would be awesome.
  7. Recognised the voice, good effort to be able to get that miroculous for a pre-season mid week friendly. Accident waiting to happen though.
  8. Who was the steaming trainwreck sitting at the front of the North Stand? My mate bumped into him later on in the Royal Infirmary A&E.
  9. About to buy first ever season ticket, website created by idiot says no.
  10. Great news! As a lapsed fan enticed back by the north stand and after attending every home game except Celtic last season I think I'll be buying a season ticket now. The non Celtic games option would be ideal. Well done all those involved in keeping the north stand red and yellow.
  11. It’s ok everyone, I have the solution. If the board to force us into the main stand we just have to turn up on the first home game of the season fully armed with some smoke bombs and flares (the fiery type not the trousers). Once we have demonstrated we cannot be trusted in the ‘wooden’ main stand the board will have no option to move us to the north stand just like those nawty sellick fans. The polis said so, don't you know.
  12. Anyone know what time the St Mirren ticket office opens at for away fans tomorrow?
  13. Don't have tickets yet. Planning on buying tomorrow at the ground. If the away section is 'sold out' while half the ground is empty that would be pretty poor business for SM. I'll just have to get a seat in the home end.
  14. I very much doubt there has ever been foundations for the city end. Like many Scottish football terraces of that era, they were simple cast insitu concrete slabs on an earth mound. I would be very surprised if there was anything left that could be utilised for a modern structure. That said, it could be possible to construct a very simple stand ( if an old school terrace was allowed) on a similar ground bearing slab and erect a cantilever roof over the terrace.
  15. All those maps are freely available online. National Library of Scotland

    Just In

Oh, and did I imagine it or did Dumf fans stand up and applaud us when we chanted. "We're Partick Thistle. We're paying your bills!"

    Just In

Thought the Dumf fans were superb, made more noise with 400 odd fans than the greenock numptys did with 3000. The goal with the last kick of the ball is now added to top 5 personal greatest ever Thistle moments.
  18. Thistle 'official' attendances have always been very strange. There was well over 5000 in the JH stand today, probably closer to 6000. Maybe 8-900 in the main stand. At least a 1000 in the North stand. Would have estimated the attendance at nearly 8000,
  19. It's ridiculous that an incedent over 3 decades ago still dictates policy. Football, the game/fans/stadiums has moved on considerably. It's utter madness that last year you could watch a Warriors rugby game at Firhill on a Friday night with a pint in your hand yet the following day you would be arrested. Who are these wee diddy men that keep criminalising us for being football fans? We don't want to drink in the ground to get steamin', the prices dictate that.. We just want to have a pint, A PINT, while watching the match.
  20. I was standing about 5 seats to the right of where the vid was shot. Absolutely unbelievable, that goes into my top ten Thistle, all time greatest ever games.
  21. Is there such a thing as a decent pub in Airdrie? Usual partner in crime looking doubtful so the bird is coming instead. Can it be possible to find something edible in a pub in Airdrie i.e. not reconstituted horse served on a platter of brown salad with a whiff of pish in the air?
  22. It was 7-0, was at both games. However the Aberdeen supporters club were nice enough to dig very deep in their pockets and find enough coppers to buy and present us with a new broom at the replay. Raised a chuckle in the shed. Favourite moments, in no order. Think it was mainly from the 91-92 season first off. Run in to promotion, coming from behind to beat Kilmarnock in a midweek game, Beating Dundee (league leaders) 2-0 in front of nearly 10,000 a few days later. The second coming with a few mins left and the utter jubilation that followed. The unbearable nerve wracking 0-0 draw in the last game to gain promotion and explosion of joy and pitch invasion that followed. In the SPHell. the 3-0 against the (deceased) Rangers. Needing a draw at Parkhead to secure survival, 1-0 down and looking hopeless we equalise with 2 mins left only for it to be dissallowed, heartbreak and gloating tims. Then Geordie Shaw scores in injury time, I don't remember ever jumping around like a loon more than that goal. Kinda had to be there. Random moments of Shed excellence. This seemed to happen against Motherwell at lot. Losing to Motherwell, some person deprived of verticality in the Motherwell end is being particularly vocal despite his diminutive stature. It is noticed by us that he somewhat resembles Wee Burney from Rab C Nesbitt. At this time, the actor from said programme has revealed that he was fiddled with in the past, also at this time there was a terracing rumour associated with player from the defunct Rangers allegedly fiddling with people that shouldn't be fiddled. Long story short, the shed chant along the line of (names altered to prevent lawyer intervention) Gichard Rough shags Wee Burney, erupted. The best part was when the Motherwell fans joined in. Again against Motherwell. This was not long after Ravenscraig shut down, Motherwell was even more depressed than it is now. We were losing. As usual in such circumstances we were being taunted by the away support. Randomly through the home crowd stormed a home fan toward the fence. Unusually this chap was dressed immacutely in grey pinstripe 3 piece suit, also unsually he was clutching severall thousands of pounds in crisp notes in his hand which he brandished at the Motherwell fans with the words, "See that? That's money ya B*********! Sign on ya F.........." Cue bedlam in the shed.
  23. Lucky if there was 500 empty seats in the JHS. It was empty but once the overspill from the JHS jags support moved to the north stand they let in around a few hundred Morton fans which pretty much filled the rest of the stand. Main stand looked full, maybe a 100 or so extra seats, North stand packed. I am also curious to know where the other 2000 fans were going to be accommodated. Fantastic crowd nevertheless, I cant ever remember a midweek game (outwith games against the tims and the other, now defunct, side) drawing anything close to that kind of crowd.
  24. As good a thread as any for an introduction... Lurking and lapsed supporter now fully back in the fold. Whoever had the idea of the new shed needs a massive pat on the back and free beer for the next few months. 25 years I have been supporting Thistle, of late, I admit it, my attendance has been poor. This I put down to the fact that, even if we won, the atmosphere at Firhill was so bad I only bothered with the occasional away game. This from being someone who used to attend (almost) every game home and away. In the old days we had the shed. Back then the result was just a bonus. Win or lose you were always entertained, there was always singing and banter. Managed a few away games this season but working away from home for a bit has meant I have been unable to attend home games, however this game has been marked on the calender for a while. The North Stand was as close an experience to the old shed as it could possibly get. I'll be back. Oh, and there is only one name for the new shed that should be considered and that is the Johnie Lambie Stand. Or, as I have already nicknamed it, The Messiah.
