  1. As far as I'm concerned Paul Cairney could spend the rest of the season standing in front of the Jackie Husband Stand flicking us the vicks and wiping his great hairy arse with pages torn from Robert Reid's History of Thistle and still he'd be the player of the season. By all accounts he's on a rotten wage, i'd be happy to see him move on and earn what he deserves - he's served us very well, and will always be remembered as a Jags legend by me at least. BTW - slagging Paul Paton is like sooooooooo 2010! OMG soooooo embarassed for you!!
  2. infuriating game - should have won very easily as Morton were poor (particularly in defence). We totally dominated the first half and should have been 3 or so up. Second half they came back into it possession-wise but their only chances came as a result of our defensive errors - Archie + O'Donell (the penalty was a stonewaller but there was absolutely no need for the challenge as the guy was heading away from goal). We pummelled them for the last ten mins and looked like we could score from every possession but contrived to shoot too early or weirdly not at all. Can't blame McNamara for this one - team looked solid, organised and determined they just can't shoot. Anybody know why Cairney was subbed? Oh yeah Elliot had a good second half - some really nice link up play.
  3. I would be very un-happy with either of these guys at Firhill. The only reason Hughes didn't get the sack at Falkirk is because he got the Hibs job - Hibs of course sacked him. I'm really surprised Hughes got a job at this level.
  4. You do the bad stuff - and that involves that dull pointless meaningless game - just so the good stuff really means something. Go carting, go shopping, play golf - whatever. Many thousands of so called "hard-core:" fans have watched the jags before and moved on, the thistle support is an ever changing assembly some leave and some (usually less) come in. It will always happen I'm not sure why you have to go through the paradox of publicly announcing your ambivalence to Thistle on a public forum - you're absence isn't something special. Why try to undermine the experience of the people who do decide to go today by telling them how "inconsequential" it is? If you do have to go, then consider those you leave behind. 1-0 to Thistle
  5. i think this is something that we might be freakishly good at. My understanding is that the Willie Sharp goal is recognised as the fastest goal in Scottish football at 7 seconds. The Robert Dunn goal was clocked at 7.5 seconds so that means we're probably credited with both the first and second fastest goals in Scottish Football. However this is just my understanding and there's probably some imported over paid soccer mercenary who turned out once for Dundee who scored in something like 0.00001 of a second
  6. I'm the same - it'll take something special to get me back to Almondvale. I'll be listening to Sportsound on Radio Scotland - they don't do single commentary matches anymore on Saturdays they do their "Open all mics" which is every game in Scotland with reporters at it updating all at the same time. it's kind of mental but once you get used to it it's a really good listen. i shouldn't think the Livvy game will be one of the games they feature in the first division but they will give score updates. They might however have a reporter at the game as they do seem to feature a curiously large number of Thistle games - although that could have something to do with the geographical proximity of Firhill to the BBC in Glasgow
  7. Totally agree - for me Easton was always the stand out in that Hamilton team (McCarthy may have been great against other teams but he couldn't do it against Thistle - and we were proper rubbish back then). For me what Sinclair has is the "potential" to make it to a higher level - he has real pace, decent passing skills and height, he isn't nearly the finished article but he could make it. Surely we always have been a selling club - maybe just not very good at it. It's only the last few years since we got Ian McCall in that we made any money out of players. It's not that big a deal compared to other clubs but at least some of players have left us to go onto "bigger" (well at least higher paying) clubs - Tuffey, Harkins, Twaddle, Boyle, Buchanan. I think a real break through would be a genuine youth player coming through the ranks and getting a big move - that way we could start to establish ourselves as the go-to club for aspiring footballers in Glasgow.
  8. Nicky Henderson, Jamie Dolan, David Moss (totally undervalued), Andy Lyons, Derek McWilliams, Alex Taylor, Des McKeown, Ian Cameron ( or is he too good?) and Graeme Robertson - I always felt bad for him, he played every single game the season we got promoted and was released by Lambie at the end of the season. He wasn't great but he never hid, even when he was having a terrible game - which was brave but stupid cos he got pelters from the shed.
  9. We really should be talking about Rowser's goal
  10. Great second half - don't think they had a real chance at goal. BUT!!!!!!! The best thing no-one of can ever escape from today's game was Rowson's goal - that was more thistle than anything I've ever seen. We must only talk about that from now on in. Love that guy
  11. Love the Mama Cass song - downloaded it from Itunes after hearing earlier this season. Keep the music coming my 5 year old loves it
  12. Been here for 30 odd years but that goal and the players celebrations will be forever one of my best memories of thistle. When Rowser ran over to the stand to hug his mum at the end (well I think it was his mum) it was pretty much the most moving moment of being a Thistle fan - all that aside it was a great goal
  13. I don't really know that much about the first team coaching arrangements at Firhill at the moment but various first team players just are playing that much better this year (could this be down to Ian Maxwell?). Here's my list: Boyle - improved so much he's too good for us Paton - now missed when he's not available (big bonus if he re-signs) Hodge - genuine first team player, probably go on to better things (would be good to re-sign him) Doolan - can hardly remember the light weight guy we had last year - big bag of goals Kinniburgh - become a proper footballer not a bombscare Erskine - more effective this year (but not finished article yet) Grehan - very acceptable (but not actually good - still last season he was as much good as Paul Keegan) Plus Archie, Robbo, Rowson all back to their expected best. If we can improve on the talent we have (Campbell, Erskine, Bannigan, Fraser etc...) at the same rate then we maybe onto something. Only real disappointment is Cairney.
  14. Solid - very solid defensive display. Rowson, Doolan and Robertson outstanding. Dunfermline never put us under any concerted pressure and for a team that are supposedly challenging for promotion they were rendered harmless. Probably should have won as we had the best chances - Dunfermline had long periods of possession in second half but couldn't get the ball out of their own half. Donelly probably played last game for Thistle - good guy but past it, McCall shouldn't expose him any more, the young dudes can do the same job. All in all a good trip to East End Park - particularly nice to be in the main stand.
  15. ......attention seeking, best to ignore. Me - I'm just waiting for my mate to get back to me to see if he'll give me a lift to Kirkaldy tomorrow, otherwise it's two trains. I'm here for the long haul, you gotta go through the bad times otherwise the good stuff isn't so sweet.
  16. I'm still going to break something
  17. If Saint Johnstone were playing one of the old firm today would the game be off - no chance. Totally raging - I'll go on Tuesday night but I think I break something cos they ruined my weekend
  18. Going as per usual - very low expectations. Think I'll be relatively happy as long as we don't lose 2-1 after scoring the first goal in a game that we enjoyed the majority of possession.
  19. Did i mention the fans were good? We were great today - if we'd even got a draw we'd have gone mental. Good day out ruined by football
  20. We were set up to be defensive with 5 across the back - and it worked. We lost to the only two on target strikes that Queens had in the entire game. McCall should stick to this formation for pretty much all of our away games this year. This was another terrible result but it wasn't a terrible performance we will play worse and win - Queens were probably worse than us.
  21. you had to be there it was sooooooooooooooooo annoying - there was no way we deserved to get beaten. The fans were awesome it was like the 90's again - sang "redyellowarmyrednyelllowarmy" for the entire second half. BUT - What worries me, and worries me BIG, is the horrible thought that yeah we play OK but that's what relegated teams play like - I've seen it before.
  22. weird thing but I've won loads on this scheme but I've never cashed anything, to me the whole plan was about funding the club and not buying some sort of raffle ticket.
  23. Awwwwwwww man I always had a soft spot for that guy. He must have played every game the season we got promoted and still he got bumped at the end of the year (Lambie could be proper ruthless). But he was rubbish, much worse than Paton, he was one of those footballers that hate the ball, whenever he was in possession he just wanted to get rid of the ball.
