  1. "Partick Thistle fans have hurled abuse at their new mascot - but they are wrong" Really annoying piece in today's Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jun/23/partick-thistle-mascot-david-shrigley-kingley accusing Thistle fans of being hypocrites based on a totally unsubstantiated claim that we are horrified with our new mascot.
  2. I listened to about an hour and half of BBC Radio Scotland on the way to the game today (the bus was slow). The best bit was the discussion of Rangers - particularly Derek Ferguson talking about walking into Ibrox and the fan saying "welcome to hell". Where the the programme goes wrong is when they stop focusing on stories/ talking points (stuff like the Old Firm) and instead go round the grounds in a very perfunctory unthinking way filling us in on the team line-ups and totally inane chats with managers. I just don't care who is playing for Kilmarnock, ICT, Aberdeen, Hamilton etc... today. They shouldn't do this anymore, yes there are a precious few seconds when they tell us the Thistle team - but that's tainted by the fact that i know the great majority of the listeners are just not interested. The pre-match intv's with managers are just a string of interchange-able cliche's and are so dull and meaningless i'd much rather listen to Chick Young talk about St Mirren or his wildly inaccurate take on the Rangers situation. So..... I prefer Open all Mics (is anybody saying there is a better radio alternative?). Off The Ball is annoying but funny, Jim Murphy was good today (his PR team will be delighted be came across as human and passionate about football)
  3. More full view tickets now available - just been tweeted by the club
  4. Confused - re-newed 3 season tickets via iPad last week no problems (already received the u-16s by post) doesn't seem to me that there is a problem with Apple devices. However - thought the online site was rubbish, had no confidence in it.
  5. FFFFS! Finally Alan "the Total Idiot" Archibald has made us the laughing stock of the entire football world by signing a player that doesn't even exist! Prince Baubles isn't real - he's a fairly tale Character! What next Rumplestiltskin? Rapunzel? Puss in Boots? Bring back Brown McMaster to sort out this mess!
  6. Disapointed - he clearly had the talent, but he needed to up his game this season to make a real impression at this level and it just hasn't happened. i guess he's like a lot of talented players that have passed through Thistle over the year on their way to "other things" - Ricky Gillies, John Paul McBride, Ryan McStay, Paul Wilson (one for the old timers)....
  7. Don't think Harkins was a realistic prospect - just don't think we have the money to afford him. When they released the list of debts that Dundee had the last time they went into admin he was owed a huge amount of money (£80,000?) and that was just in the wages he hadn't been paid. Also have to agree with above he doesn't track back and hasn't really looked fully fit since he left us - however we still need a replacement for Erksine.
  8. Have to agree - we must have re-organisation to help the full time clubs in Scotland that fall out with the SPL. Ross County and St Mirren simply voted against a new league structure cos they felt they had a better chance of clinging to top level football in the current limited set up. SPL is a horrid organisation but the status quo is just not an option.
  9. Crackin' footage beautifully composed - club should try to gather all these clips together for an end of season video. I didn't really register the goal at the time - just went totally mental. Love it LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
  10. I would start Lawless for Forbes and Craig for Doolan on Saturday (just to keep players fresh) I'm sure SOD is tired but he probably looked like the strongest player on the pitch in the last 20 mins on Wed night - i don't think you can drop him and not weaken the team. James Craigan took a right kicking throughout the game on Wed night so could be a game to start Elliot. Actually looking forward to a trip to Airdrie - how weird is that?
  11. errr think this topic is a fishing exercise - nothing to see here. Maybe the OP has parental issues but there must be better ways of generating attention BTW: blllggggghrrrgh! great result tonight!
  12. If indeed we do "score when we want" then those were two of the best timed goals of the season - just before half time and then with 15 mins to go to kill off the game. A thoroughly professional performance, Hamilton to be fair played some pretty decent football and will feel hard done by not to have at least scored. 2 thoughts from today's game - firstly Archie might actually be a better reader of a game than Jackie, his substitutions are more effective and the team generally sorts out tactics and copes more efficiently as the game goes on (poss something Archie learnt from the mighty Lambie). Also the team spirit genuinely looks to be amazing - the way the players celebrated Elliot's goal was great, they were ecstatic and truly delighted for the guy. Bannigan was of course excellent.
  13. Thought that was a pretty perfunctory victory today. Dumbarton ran out of steam in both halves of the game - they matched us for about 35 mins in the first half and only 25 mins of the second half. Dumbarton are decent enough -better going forward than Hamilton, but ponderous at the back. Although they are way better than Airdrie. Thought Bannigan bossed the midfield today spraying passes about with both feet - don't think we'll be seeing him at Firhill for much longer if he continues to play like that (he's only 20!). Possibly one of the best things about today was that Craigen, Elliot and McGuigan all made themselves genuine contenders at a point when we're headed into the busiest and most difficult part of the season and we'll need a big pool of players to cope.
  14. SERIOUS POINT THAT WE CAN IMPROVE ON: took my two daughters to the game yesterday - can we please do something about the toilet cubicles in the Jackie Husband stand? This area is where we have designated as the family zone but the toilets are horrendous for young girls. i have to take my girls to the gents and use the cubicles the toilets at the north end of the stand were either non functioning or splattered with s*** . The family section has been very busy this year - and that's great but we need to make this a better experience
  15. I really like this - it's like a carpet but on a T-shirt! AND it's redyellowandblack I wonder if you can buy it? I guess it reflects their moorish heritage.
  16. After carefully reading the clubs statement on the official website I think our directors voted yes to Rangers in SFL1. (why didn't they be more specific? loads of other clubs have been). Pish. I'll say it now- I support Thistle not whoever happens to be the current board.
  17. We really need to know this - some people are talking about boycotting NDP, but what if we end up as one of the pariahs of the SFL? that would be really REALLY shite. Like deal breaking can't be bothered to go up to Firhill shite. I'm feeling this is a good day but if our board bummed this up I'll be gutted
  18. SFL vote for Rangers to go into SFL 3 - only 5 teams vote for the SFL 1 option. Cool - but now we need to keep the pressure on for league reconstruction. And now (hopefully) we can get back to the football.
  19. I've thought about this a lot - and I'm not bothered about tomorrow. If Rangers are in Div 3 then that's cool - sporting integrity is served (and people seem to think that's proper important) but if I'm honest i just kind of like getting it up the Rangers fans who I went to school with. I kind of reckon that if I'd been serious about sporting integrity over TV money then maybe i should have walked away from Scottish football back when they started the SPL. Rangers in Div 1 then that's cool too - we get the league re-construction that we want, and which will hopefully create meaningful football for most years. Playing Rangersco as well - can't lie I do love that (surely we'll take something from them). Either way I've bought my season ticket and I'll be supporting the jags next year.
  20. I fully expect that Rangers if they play anywhere next year will be playing in Div 3 - I think we can stop fretting about it now, next week's vote will be a formality. i just hope that we haven't let the opportunity for radical league reconstruction slip - as a thistle fan we really need to be part of a league where we've got something to play for after our Scottish Cup exit.
  21. This is fine for me - what I expected. it's a bit dull but it is pragmatic. I don't mind the idea that we bump this to the SFA - we can't lose sight of the fact that this is an opportunity for root and branch restructuring of Scottish Football. I'm not too sure that a gaggle of SFL chairmen are the right people to decide the future of our game - I kind of liked what I'd read from that Turnbull Hutton guy but after hearing him on Radio Scotland last night and he didn't sound too impressive.
  22. Two up Two down every year plus play offs - for TEN YEARS guaranteed. That should be the base line for any negotiations. Me I hate the Old Firm but i love the idea that that this is our chance to hold the SPL to ransom. As far as I'm concerned the worst thing about being a Thistle fan is the fact that we are locked out of the tension and excitement of promotion/ relegation battles by the pathetically "un-sporting" league structure of Scottish football. I'd happily be a bunch of opportunist shits and ensure that we've actually got something to compete for at the start of every season.
