Setting up a decent youth system and hoping to sell on a player a season is the only way the club will survive, and possibly progress, in the long term (save the knight in shining armour turning up at the door). This season's efforts have shown we're moving in the right direction in that regard, but I can't help but feel that the board will, at some point, put considerable pressure on McCall to disband it due to the cost, before we see any real benefit.

Look on the bright side. At least we're not Dundee.

Good point. I had to decide whether to go to Asda or Sainsburys the other night. I went to the Asda, but I didn't like it, so I went away again. Maybe we could come up with some sort of complex analogy to put to those refusing to move, getting them to try this place out. I couldn't think of one, though.

That's the thing really. I'm not a big fan of the sort of books that seem to be labelled the next big thing and are 'must reads' according to the tabloid reviews. If it's made into a film, usually even less chance of me picking it up!

Wouldn't know what that feels like... Hopefully we can get it going in the next few years though.

I'm without a new book at the moment, so took to reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo from the other half's collection. Really not that interested in it, but I might finish it.

I was concerned with the 'jobs for the boys' angle when Irons got the assistant job. Was surprised when he was shoved out/asked to leave/made redundant/walked away/left by mutual consent/we couldn't afford him (delete depending on which way the wind is blowing today)

The National - High Violet Can't see me getting this off the rotation any time soon. Been waiting for it for a while, and it doesn't disappoint. Singer has been working on singing up and 'out' a bit more, and it comes through in the mix. Guitars are less plucky and use more distorted, choppy sounds. Whole thing sounds a little less 'folky' but retains the musicianship. If you haven't heard The National, shame on you!

Theres a bunch of us doing it from work, for a couple of really good causes, so I don't doubt that I'll be up for it on the day. Training though, I'll be mostly doing myself, but if there's a regular 5k it might give me something to set mini-targets for. Edited - Good luck Norman, report back with your success story!

One of the players of the year in the Championship, and I'll be looking forward to seeing how he fares in the Premier. I wasn't sure he'd cut it at WBA, but he did, so why couldn't he play at the same level as the likes of Darren Fletcher?

Is this a regular occurrence? I'm trying to start training for 10k/half marathon, but finding motivation difficult to come by, surprisingly!
