  1. A good early test to see if 'typical Thistle' still applies or if this reported new found enthusiasm is for real. We really should win this easily.... Wonder if we will start again with what looked like a sort of 4-1-4-1 formation against Morton. Looked like Slater sitting deeper until Gordon retreated to join him in the 2nd half. I'd give Gordon a rest for this one even though it looked like he was having a rest during the Morton game, replace him with McCarthy since he looks like he could do with some game time. Maybe Storey to come in for Doolan, or more likely for Spittal given Archie's preference of playing Miles on the wing.
  2. My memory isn't the best, but I think I would be safe in saying that season we didn't have a load of injury problems. As much as that could happen again, we don't really want to rely on good fortune in that regard.
  3. Not reading too much into our lack of match fitness. There were a lot of misunderstandings, with players going long when a short pass was played and vice versa. These are hopefully the bits that will come with training and games together. Thought Gordon was anonymous until the second half. Then I only noticed him because he fell so deep he was behind the centre backs. Not useful. No idea why McCarthy was deployed so high up the pitch when brought on. Worth the admission money for that first goal alone.
  4. Not sure which would be more surprising; Scully playing a blinder, or us being awarded 2 penalties. Good news on Bell, strangely no word of Bannigan.
  5. Utd seem to think they've signed a midfielder. Can't wait to see him do his revolving door impression in a different shirt.
  6. This great man's importance to our football club can never be overstated. A sad day for the Jags. RIP
  7. Do we have anyone who can play RB?
  8. That was the popular sentiment at the time, yes.
  9. Motherwell are in a better position to take a chance on his development I suppose. Good luck to him, nice to see him get fixed up.
  10. The 3 attacking midfielder setup we favour can be great, but obviously does rely on these 3 to be linking up well together with the striker. The Doolan/Erskine/Lawless combination was a joy to watch at times. More of that, please.
  11. We're signing all the midfielders. Wide cover wouldn't be a bad thing.
  12. Sounds like a worthwhile run out at the weekend. Great to see Bannigan getting a few games under his belt. If he stays fit he'll be a major asset this season. With the reports of Storer playing deeper, it definitely looks like we're still very light in the striker department.
  13. It's good to see we're adding (what looks like) quality, despite the problem of the 3 contracted players still hanging around. The finishing touches to the squad really depend on these 3 staying or going though. I wonder what the discussion is within the club, whether they are happy to stay but just a bit expensive, or if they are desperate to go but need the wages?
  14. Another signing that looks like a solid one. I'm not unhappy with the business done up to this point. Some full back cover next, perhaps....
  15. I'd be very surprised if Fitzpatrick is seen as a potential starter. Will be good to see him get a chance to earn that place, though.
  16. That guy had a decent squad, and they were fit.
  17. Definitely an interesting signing. Seems a bit of a headcase, but maybe a bit of a talent too. Certainly young enough to use this move to kick start his career with a bucketload of goals.... Welcome to the Jags, Jack.
  18. Hey, at least we were top of the league at something.
  19. Going on other info from that site, could be totally made up. But it fits nicely with what I now want to believe.
  20. That might well be a clue, then.
  21. Add McCarthy to that list and we might start to have options in the middle. Would you believe it? Also hearing positive reports on Barjonas. Sounds interesting. Would like us to get Slater signed up.
