Absolutely none of that fills me with hope

God , I hate criticizing Archie but I don't see how he can survive the inevitable hammering on Wednesday.

After the disaster of the Dundee result I had look at our possession stats this season and there is a clear pattern. The less possession we have the better result we seem to have outwith game against the old firm . Less in the dundee victory ,the Motherwell victory the st johnstone victory .Also less in most of the good draws we've had too. When we have bad defeats we also seem to have more possession than the opponents too. Not quite sure what this actually tells us, should we completely change our style , pack the middle and defence and go for counter attacking only. Are we basically just shite when we have the ball? The facts seem to suggest the more we have of the ball the more likely we are to lose. We are on the brink if something does not change.

Agree with all of that. At the game it looked like the defending was shocking but on the TV some of it looked heroic. We fell back too much.Barton gets worse the deeper he gets on the pitch but even he put in a ton of effort . I thought Sammon had a great game and gave us a physical presence we really needed against them.If only we had an outfielder like the keeper Cerny is.Not one other player complained at the offside goal.We need more of that attitude.The least we should expect is that sort of effort and commitment now.

The defense really struggled to cope with the cross ball and everything for motherwell was coming down the wing.Mcginn got a roasting but give him credit for effort and attitude , took a good booking for the team too .We really need to sort out the central defense too. .Two poorly defended goals against us again tonight. Three great goals and TC going mental to get them a goal chopped off, rightly I think.player was offside and obstructed him would be my guess . We looked really poor at times but great effort and commitment is always a good starting point.Long way to go yet

Massive decisions for Archie to make tonight.Hope he can get it right tonight for the sake of the team , the fans and himself. First thing he must do is pick a team that can compete with the physicality of Motherwell. Lets get right behind the team for the whole match. 1-0 to Thistle and Barton will probably score given the abuse he's taken on here

Are you saying we shouldn't drop Barton , a completely ineffectual midfield player who is actually bringing the team down and we should not play woods or Fraser in an effort to get them fit . The midfield doesn't work with Barton in it anyway,and that continue the way we are going then and wait a longer time until Osman gets fits before changing the midfield. If Woods and Fraser are not going to get more game time and get fit what is the point of them being at the club? No one actually knows how fit they are anyway. We have no impetus from the center of the park , its a huge problem.

So we are basically fecked then .Neither are going to get fit sitting on the bench and Osman is now miraculously supposed to get fit before they do? Barton cant deal with the pace of players either and has the disadvantage of being a sh1tbag and unable to tackle.I have never seen a a player jump out the way of shots so much. Get Fraser and woods on the pitch or they are never going to get fit .Are we waiting for Osman to get fit before them How does that work.

I think no matter what formation we have we still seem to play the same way with the ball continually hit out wide and we always seem to have an isolated striker on matter what the formation. Im not a huge fan of Garry F but I think he has to play a run of games to get him fit and see if he can give us some sort of impetus from the middle instead of lumping the ball wide continually. Barton got totally destroyed and gave up in the game at Fir park and must not play in the middle on wednesday

You could solve quite a few of the above problems by getting Barton to feck out of the midfield. For me he is a major negative in the team. Far too slow with his passes and couldnae tackle a fish supper. If I knew he was starting against Motherwell I would genuinely think twice about going.Archie has to come up with something completely different against Well or he'll be out by the end of the week. Ive said several times ,playing Barton week in week out will cost Archie his job and now he's on the brink.

Agree with every word of that.I said a while ago on here that I thought Playing Barton in midfield every week would cost Archie his job and that hasn't changed.He is the definition of a luxury player that is difficult to fit into a team. Everything would seem to hinge on Osman, Bannigan & Booth getting back ,getting match fit and staying fit and lets face it that is highly unlikely. We never have been able to connect the midfield to the forward line and every time we sign a player to do so they end up stuck out on the wing. It's no use repeating failing tactics every week.

When Osman returns keeping him fit is going to be critical to our chances. Really hope we have enough money to bring in someone in January too. The likes of Ossie,Booth Eliot and Muzzy seem permanently injury prone now.

Two clean sheets in a row, only one conceded in three, is a very good response to the shambles of the killie and motherwell games from the players and management The standard of that game was woeful but I didn't feel any players let us down. Lawless is doing a manful job out of position and Edwards puts in an incredible amount of effort and work. I thought Devine captained the team really well today too.A bit of leadership /that has sometimes been missing this season,

Out of the ten worst games I've ever seen about six of them have been at NDP. That whole evening was an affront to football and near made my eyes bleed. No Subs used.........and the reason is?????

Long way to go yet but the commitment and effort that has been missing was there today and that is a good starting point. Earlier and better subs from the manager helped massively.Barton better if not great in a deeper role. Edwards can be heidless but massive, massive effort from him , ran his heart out..The back four looks fragile but got better as the game went on. Lots of arguing between them ,did devine push Turnbull? Turbull looks awful awkward in that position but id stick with it for now. We need this attitude and commitment every week and its Archies job to ensure that. Think we carried a bit of luck today but its true that the harder you work the luckier you get. tThere is the team talk right there Injuries or not there has been real basics missing in our team performances Hope to see the team go through the middle much more and less booting the ball continually out the wings. Everything hasto be done quicker. I reckon this is Archie's biggest test.
