  1. I'm not sure I understood any of it, it reads like one of Gaddafi's speeches? What does he/she/it mean by "swindles that have been carried out with them on their own skin"??? Completely mad statement, I can't see George Foulkes ever having come out with this! Still it could make for an interesting season if Hearts are joining the Tims in the paranoia stakes!

  3. In all of these clips we looked a good team! I wonder if we see clips of last season in 20 years time if we think we look a good team. Oh dear , looking back with rose tinted specs - again!
  4. Mikey, Seems like a plan! Any other Aus Hajg fancy meeting up in Melbourne for this game? If I can thinks of a suitable venue I will be in touch and arrange a jaggy convention! Cheers
  5. Not alot in it really Queens Park - 12,548 miles Rangers - 12,553 miles Celtic - 12, 555 miles THE MIGHTY JAGS - 12,559 miles or Ballarat Red Devils - (Regional Victoria State League 2) - 6 miles Melbourne Victory - 52 miles Melbourne Hart - 53 miles OK so I made most of the distances up but in such cases distance is irrelevant!
  6. Interesting comments about Bertie's Boys and I must admit its pretty close to how I remember it. I recall a sense of disatisfaction with our performances they, despite being well placed in the League. When Bertie was replaced with Peter Cormack, our football improved but the results got worse and we were relegated, instead of winning 1-0 we were losing 2-3. Maybe we look back with some degree of fondness at Bertie's time because we were doing OK, but I agree Roughie was our saviour and worth at least 10 points a season!
  7. I'm not sure I would put Rowson in my all time top Thistle 11 but there is definately room for both him and Archie in my Panini sticker book of Thistle legends or there would be if I had one! If young Jackie Campbell is anything like his Dad, well that's another legend in the making!!!
  8. I was alive at the time (its only since that I've not been) and yes Leeds were worse that all the other teams, when they had to be! They played some excellent football but if under pressure resorted to desperate tactics more akin to the Argentina's, Italy's and Spains of the time! The Cup Final and its replay vs Chelsea was like watching an educational video on how to commit assault and battery in a public place! I recently watched the film and really enjoyed it, although I agree Clough's arrogance takes some getting used to his record as a striker must be one of the best in British football as is his record as a manager. I wasn't too impressed at the portrayal of Billy Bremner but I have no idea if he was like that, I don't suppose Johnny Giles would have been too impressed either! Anyway, isn't it just as well England didn't give him the job, thay might have had a decent team if they had!
  9. Would some of these players be worht less that the pare their name is written on! That's really sad!
  10. Oh! No ! Nomore Fleetwood Mac puns, don't you just hate it..tusk! tusk !
  11. No we shouldn't go junior, but the Ugly Sisters should! Already the atmosphere at some junior games is poisonous, drink fuelled hatred, so its only natural the OF would fit right in!
  12. Agreed! It appears that Barcelona are real "team" both on and off the pitch!
  13. I agree with uberbeeb, give us an end to attack! I may result in a very empty JH but at least the team would have a backing behind then in one half and something to focus attack the next. I also think the North Stand should be called the John Lambie Coop!
  14. Twinnys FIFA coverage says it all, but I agree that the guidelines are being read as rules now and this is to satisfy Clubs that want everything clear, one of which may or may not have been playing in the Cup Final. One of the down sides to this seasons hysterical reactions from Lennon & CO to anything that didn't go their way is that there is no longer any room for common sense. Officials do give free-kicks when the ball hit the hand whether deliberate or otherwise, to cover their backsides. As the rules say it has to be deliberate, or in some way seeking to gain an advantage.
  15. Lasting memory of Sir Dennis was at a Celtic vs Thistle match at the home of the great unwashed. The game was finely balanced at 1-1 (Bobby Murdoch had just scored Celtic's 3000th goal - or something like that), Dennis beats two defenders, rounds the goalie, who I think was calle Evans, then with the empty goal fell over the ball and the keeper recovered to save. At the time my Dad said, get used to it son, this is Thistle all over!
  16. Nah! not him, apparently he doesn't get on well with his team mates and can be a bit of a Jealous Guy!
  17. I hope this is true, I am really pleased to see JMac get his chance, I hope that Ian cameron is retained as part of the team, however, as he has done a great job! On the sponsors front, I hope the Andy Anderson mentioned in one of the earlier posts was the one and only....part of the Jackie Campbell/Andy Anderson partnership that made Miller/McLeish look like Fran/Anna!
  18. Rowser and Archie are two players that deserve plaudits for their committment to the Jags over the years and are exactly the type of players the club needs around the patch to help bring on the younger staff. Both these players in my mind belong to a group of Jags legends, we should definately make sure both are still here for at least next season!
  19. Not too bothered, they are all about the same distance for me; Cowdenbeath - 12342 Ayr - 12339 Brechin - 12402 Think I'll go for Ayr cos if we have to play them next Christmas I will still be able to go!
  20. My Dad wasn't much into football and if anything would say he supported Aberdeen! However, he had no wish to take me to the Ugly Sisiters matches and indeed only my second game was at Hampden in October 1971! I thought I was supporting a winning dynasty! My Dad also worked with Jackie Husband in the shipyards, so that's where we went every second week, my Dad to avoid any DIY jobs and me to watch my new hero Jackie Campbell! As absolutely everybody on here will testify once a Thistle supporter, always a Thistle supporter, you migt not go to matches anymore but you can't stop supporting them. Even here in Australia folk look out for the Jags results, although my daughters get strange looks when turninig up to PE in Thistle tops, I think they tell their teachers the tops are the new Adelaide Crows jersey!!!
  21. Its all bad! Where do we afford an experienced manager from now? I am concerned not only by the reason(s) behind McCalls departure but also the excitement with which our BoD announced Jackie Macs takeover! Looks like it will be another novice for the job, cos he's cheap! It could be another disaster!
  22. Some pretty good ideas here! My favourite home tops have been 78-79 and 94-95! I do like the idea of a strip similar to Dumbarton's 96-97 for our away kit, but with a proper collar - fussy or what?
  23. Time to drop the anchor on all this! I predict Thistle 0 - 0 Falkirk Falkirk 1 - 0 Thistle Falkirk 1 - Thistle 2 although I like the thought of it just being abandoned due possibly to lack of interest!
