  1. Making it up or not it's the same difference. Perhaps you read, tho' I don't recall it, that we took £20K pa in at the under 16 gate (tho' again I thought all concessions went thru the same gate)prior to the under 16s free initiative. Neither you, me, the Club, nor anyone knows how many adults have started going/coming back as they can now take their youngsters in for nothing. Likewise and more importantly how many extra youngsters now pledge allegiance to Thistle thanks to being introduced to Jaggydom thru this initiative. Sticking my old marketing bunnet on, gut feeling would tell me that £20K pa spent on such an initiative seems a real bargain.
  2. I'd be surprised if Tom doesn't read your post but you could send him a private message on here. Posts under Tom Hosie.
  3. If two category one refs can't agree on whether a match is playable or not what feckin' respect can you have for these eejits? The fact that with little or no rain between inspections it stands to reason the pitch would be more playable by the second inspection only makes it more incomprehensible. I thought these days those refs were supposed to be all singing from the same hymn sheet. Obviously either Mr Muir or Mr Richmond has made a wrong decision. Will we ever find out who or why? The answer is of course , no. It stands to reason that Richmond must question the judgement of Muir and vice versa. Yet we're told to respect the judgement of referees. So Mr SFA, which of the two refs should we respect? And while Mr SFA I'm on my high horse, the Cup game that got cancelled under similar circumstances (ie two refs (who again we're supposed to respect) giving opposite decisions, why did you think it was a clever idea to select a match referee from Stonehaven to referee a game between two teams from the Central Belt?
  4. I'm pissed off with an 80 mile round trip. God only knows how you must feel, AJ. By the end of this seaon or whenever the last Falkirk game is I'll have set off 9 times to see Jags v Falkirk games.
  5. I noticed Falkirk didn't even mention the inspection on their website.
  6. That's ridiculous. It's not the size of the country that matters in any case it's the state of the infrastructure. I do tho' feel that with larger leagues, where those crazy trips are reduced to one a season, that regionalisation of the lower leagues would be less of an issue.
  7. If this does get called off I make it we'll play Falkirk at least FIVE times in midweek this season. Both clubs are losing a hell of a lot in revenue at the gate.
  8. translated as I don't think there's any appetite amongst third division clubs to do away with the closed shop.
  9. This will be the 4th time this season Falkirk have played at Firhill. I'll be there but I'm a season ticket holder so it makes no difference. Those paying £17 tomorrow regardless of which team you follow have my appreciation.
  10. Buchanan couldn't even lace his drinks,then?
  11. On a slight tangent presumably to avoid over spending, next season's player budget isn't going to be higher than this season's. Indeed if attendances remain low and there's no increase in season ticket sales then I'd imagine our player budget will be considerably lower. Where there might be a light at the end of the tunnel is in comparable budgets. Other clubs are feeling the pinch just as much if not more than us. It is more than just remotely possible that next season we'll be relatively better of budget-wise than this season, within our division at least. The downside for breaking even does not necessarily mean that the best we can hope for is a relegation struggle.
  12. Since we're discussing the topic I've had this super duper idea that could help the Club make some money. Answer the feckin' e mails.
  13. The bus back from Dingwall gets you into Inverness in plenty of time for a couple of pints before the 18.43 train. We'll it did last year anyway.
  14. Direct quote from EP on the official website Then again the draw was supposed to take place no later than the 15th of the month. In fairness all this was back in September and as we all know PTFC can change direction numerous times in 4 or 5 months. . To back that up further to above quote Eddie goes on to welcome Jim Alexander to the Board. Also in fairness I'm a silver member, my money comes off near the end of the month, and I've not had any problems. That said reading above posts is most annoying if not exactly surprising. How many more folk have tried to give money to the Club and got nowhere?
  15. No help to a youngster like you, uber, but the club55 thingy is still on. For anyone 55+ you can travel by rail anywhere return for £18. I think you don't need to return the same day should you wish.
  16. On the other hand he has no experience of Div 1 football. Personally I think Ross Co have been underachieving and someone like Calderwood will get improvement. Let's hope it's not immediate.
  17. In the big picture the Grehan booking is hardly likely to affect us (I believe it's only his second this season). What it does do is highlight the incompetence of a referee. He surely can only book a player if he clearly sees an action worthy of a yellow card (or his linesman sees similar). I can understand and have sympathy for a ref booking a player he deems to have brought down an opponent recklessly and the player actually got to the ball. That's usually just down to plain human error. In this case the referee could only have surmised Grehan had done something (still not a clue what) that if clearly seen would warrant a booking. He must then have given Grehan a yellow card based only on guesswork. How can you have respect for a referee that bases a decision on guesswork? I know I'm sounding off a bit like Neil Lennon but we were probably lucky to come away with even one point. Had that clown of a ref not seen yon Queens player (Quinn?) take a dive he'd probably have guessed he was tripped and guessed he was in the box and awarded a penalty. On the other hand regardless of what Rowser says I thought both he and Paton rather stupid getting booked the other night for arguing. Think they're now both on 5 yellows apiece. Given that they're effectively automatic choices in the team they're bound to pick up further bookings. Don't know what the threshold is but silly yellows like the other night won't help avoid suspensions later in the season.
  18. Thought that was what you meant, GJ. It was mentioned at the meet the manager night. Tho' not on its own that big a deal just another contributory factor why team spirit was evidently at a low earlier in the season.
  19. When I mentioned Brighton on another thread it was in response to McCall's quote in last night's ET. He also said at the meet the manager that even if he was able to get another player in he would still be toying with the notion of holding back to the summer. Putting aside the wisdom of bringing in another player if he is indeed interested in a striker, Brighton has the benefit of being match fit.
  20. I guess a lot of folk will have similar opinion. This is where some sort of effective fans association could play a part. Canvass members and pass on to the Board the views of its membership.
  21. He probably started McGowan as he was not down with the flu or just recovering from it. Neither Erskine or Cairney appeared to have anything like 45 mins in them never mind a whole game.
  22. He might be looking for a decent wage but I wouldn't be that certain he's going to get one (this season at least).
  23. I thought the guy did alright last night considering he'd only just arrived. I'd imagine he'd be more effective thru the middle than out on a wing. Cracking long throw in btw. McCall said in the ET last night Could the striker be Tom Brighton?
  24. What's right? That the players have to provide their own lunches or the preparation area is allegedly dodgy?
