  1. The way I look at it Jackie is a bit of a cult hero with Celtic, I couldn't care less if he gets the celtic badge tattoed on his forehead, aslong as he's bringing in the points for us, that's all that matters. But for what it's worth, I'd rather a manager with some kind of profile in the media rather than a nonentity
  2. can't be assed reading all 8 pages, but I can't pass up the chance to miss out on making a "there's too much at steak" pun
  3. Stevie was I'd say the best out and out centre back we've had since Willie Jamieson. In an era obsessed with the ball-playing "fancy myself as a cultured midfielder" centre back, Stevie stuck to, and excelled in, the basics of defending. Watching him come out every game and clap the fans more than any player I've ever saw really restored my faith that footballers care about the fans, and when he celebrated every win with the fans like he'd just won a trophy, with the fists pumping and veins bulging, it only reinforced my feelings. It is absolutely no coincidence that Thistle's rise to the SPL coincided with Stevie's arrival, and for me, was the best player of the Lambie revival years despite the excellence of the likes of Hardie, Lennon, Paterson, and McLean. I am so proud of his achievements post-Thistle, playing a huge part in the many successful results Northern Ireland have had in the past few years, aswell as establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the SPL. I believe he could have an excellent career in the media when he retires, but I also fancy Craigan to make a good manager one day, hopefully with the Jags!!
  4. Surely Big Kevin McGowne should feature in our SPL dream team for that season!!
  5. i loved big stevie at firhill i will go along and show my support and show that we jags never forget

    Puns

I'm on the forum for a quick glance most days, can't say I notice it being over-run with puns? I usually think they're a good laugh
  7. That was Robbie Keane. Was still a bit of a move, but when you consider Keane had just had a blinding season in the Premiership with Coventry and was a full Irish international it's not that hard to imagine.
  8. Hopefully 3-4 years from now we'll have the core of a good side made up by some of these boys. Delighted with that side of things just now, in the near 20 years i've been a jags fan we really haven't bothered with giving youth it's chance. Other than Archie, Kenny, I'd struggle to think of players we've developed who've have a decent career out of football? I always thought Derek Lyle was utter baws but he's done ok I suppose. Couple of guys played lower league for years, likes of robert dunn Andy gibson etc, but I'm hopeful a few of this bunch we have just now will be gems
  9. Robbo would be a decent utility player across the back, but I honestly think if we can get Balatoni back on loan, Campbell can cover RB, won't be a must.
  10. Quite liked the Munich air disaster one, thought David Tennant was good. I agree though Busby appeared to just float around when he fancied, wasn't very inspirational. Thought The Damned United was interesting, I love any football based film or documentary and I know the facts weren't 100% true, but was a good watch. I don't really have a lot of time for people with big ego's, he did seem an arrogant ******* at times. And I wasn't alive at the times, but were Leeds any worse than any other team in the 70s? Seemed like his mouth ruined what could have been a great career at leeds. some record though no taking that away from him
  11. I think we've got our own affairs to worry about before FTOF or indeed F anyone at all. Our clubs is a bit of a shitey wee diddy wee club, worry about our own affairs. far too many thistle fans are more anti old firm than pro thistle. get a life and worry about thistle and no1 else. this game will make us a few bob hopefully and get us a runabout. what more can u ask for in a pre season friendly. sort yourselves out squires.
  12. Main thing is the runabout for us, and it'll make us a few quid hopefully if a thousand of them show up, so i think it's daft to turn down this opportunity.
  13. He saved a penalty that night did he not?
  14. All the best to Paddy at his new club and hope does well. Steady player but I'm not worried we can't train the likes of Johnnie Lindsay up to be as good/better
  15. Elgin's the only place I've not been in that list so I'll take that. Failing that, anyone at home.
  16. where can we find the draw?
  17. Fair enough mate. Like I said I liked big kenny and his relationship with the fans was great, I love the jags as much as anybody, and to see a player committed as that was great. But when I strip back all the sentiment, I see a geniune big guy who made the best of what he had, but in terms of his reactionary ability, I'm guessing you mean reflexes and stuff? For me, anytime I watch the old dvd's of league winning season, all I see is big kenny diving into the net after the goals been scored, sort of token gesture "i tried to save it". I really don't rate him. But thats what makes this game great we all have our opinion. Edited to add, how long you been a jags fan? I've been going since 92. In all that time, I'd rank kenny behind nicky walker, craig nelson, andy murdoch, jonny tuffey, and scott fox. We've been blessed with great keepers in my time I think.
  18. Nothing outrageous about it, it's an opinion. Arthur's left Thistle, been replaced with 2 consecutive keepers who are far superior to him in Tuffey and Fox. Been released from a few diddy teams down south now playing in Conference. Langfields been involved in several scotland squads, and is one of the best and most consistent keepers in SPL. I liked Kenny as a cult hero but we was very average.
  19. Was really disappointed when we let him go, although at the time we were looking certainties for relegation to the first division, but he was/is way better a goalkeeper than arthur who we held onto. hope he makes a full recovery
  20. Adam has lost a lot of weight since going down south don't think he's tubby. One of the top 3 players in that league this season, hope he gets his big move and begins to show his class for Scotland.
  21. Does Craigan not do his famous long throw in?
  22. McConologue is the player who holds that prestigious award from my point of view
  23. I strongly feel with this signing we'll have a monopoly on the centre backs in this league.
  24. If Rowser wants part time then keep him at Thistle part time.
  25. Haven't been wowed by McNaughton anytime I've seen Cardiff but apparently he's had a good season. Russell Martin has always impressed me anytime I've seen Norwich. Is Alan hutton injured? I always think he's brilliant for Scotland.
