  1. David Flitcroft is the new Robins manager, we can breathe easy...for now
  2. Me too, I was surprised McInally wasn't in the squad yesterday as he has always looked decent when I have seen him, although this would explain it!
  3. Haha indeed - I thought they were through it and then seen that article
  4. I'd be amazed if he went to Charlton, total basket case if a club. Bolton would be a better move
  5. Quite incredible that Kai Naismith has become a key man for Pompey and Lucas Akins for Burton. Both looked rotten at Thistle in the First DIvision never mind the top league
  6. Hard one to take after being very much in charge, especially as it was an exact repeat of earlier in the season. It's been a brilliant season but we need to cut out the late goals we have lost next season - we would have been 3rd if we had seen games out in last ten minutes. I think we have only scored a late goal at Rugby Park for a draw and McDiarmid for a win However....as I said a few weeks back, I do believe our injuries have killed us this year and Archie will be gutted as it is out with his control. Aside from missing players, I think the unseen consequence has been a number of guys short on fitness either through missing pre-season, having one or more lengthy injuries during the season or carrying a knock. For me, guys like Booth, Erskine and Ozzie have looked off the pace and tired late in numerous games. Today was a good example where the Sevco guy just seemed to run past Callum for their second. Hopefully a full pre season and some more luck with injuries next year and we will see these games out
  7. That second half was crazy, one of the best I have seen and a draw probably a fair result on balance But hats off to those players, a load of guys missing again today and they ran, fought and played some bloody good stuff over 90 minutes. Cerny's poor kick out led to the penalty but another incredible 90 from him, Keown and Elliott solid again and Lawless superb! McCarthy looks a real prospect We should enjoy this team - waited a lot of years to have such a good side
  8. And Lindsay and Dumbuya missing too. Just the 8 players out today - mild by the standards of our injury luck this season
  9. Also worth noting that West Ham paid around £2 million for Stephen Hendrie, whom SOD had just destroyed in the 5-0 game. Lindsay for me is a more accomplished player although we will never get near that fee for him as West Ham had lost the plot there
  10. Yes I've always wondered that myself. I just remember him causing Archie all sorts of problems when at Cowdenbeath and thought it would be a stick on we would sign him. However, if Archie chose not to sign him, that's good enough for me!
  11. Great post - also worth noting that the Board have run the club like a business rather than as a bunch of fans with a hobby. They make sure the money is looked after and let Archie and Scott get on with the job, a brilliant balancing act of keeping us in the black and signing quality players. Added to the the generosity of the Weirs who have tried to build something for the long-term rather than sign a few marquis players for some publicity Great times to be a Jags fan!
  12. Thought this all season - Archie must be kicking himself with his bad luck. For me our start was fully connected to our injury problems. If I remember right, 12 players out on night 1 at Airdrie, a number of guys who had little or no pre-season (e.g. Booth, Elliott, Osman), 6 keepers in the match day squad this season, key players missing all or part of the the season etc I'm fully convinced we fell out of games late early in the season due to this, which makes the job Archie and Scott have done all the more amazing
  13. Wow, what a game! Attend the development games when I can (not frequently unfortunately) but always wonder why Neil McLaughlin doesn't get the odd place on the first team bench when we are so short - good player with a great scoring record.
  14. When you see the years at which all those others guys scored their goals, you realise how incredibly lucky we have been and are to have Kris at Firhill.
  15. With our points and goal difference advantage, and looking at the respective run ins of ourselves, Dundee and Killie, a win next week could put us on the cusp of the top 6.
  16. Azeez has just scored against Lokeren, start of a scoring streak hopefully!
  17. In the English market that will put him at around £25m
  18. Everton are about to pay £11m for a guy whose strike partner is Josh Magennis! Surely £500k plus a sell on and loan back isn't too much to ask
  19. We did indeed - thought we may have dropped Barton back when we equalised (after not doing so against Aberdeen) but Archie was bold, stuck with 442 and we were all over Hearts thereafter. Great decision from Archie
  20. I truly have no idea how we never won that - brilliant 2nd half from Thistle.
  21. Some of the points made above remind me of the dying days of Alan Curbishley at Charlton - many fans saying he had taken them as far as he could. They were 7th in the EPL. That proved to be correct with every successive manager thereafter taking them further and further down the league structure. Archie, who like any manager is not without his faults, has improved our league position for four consecutive seasons so there is no evidence he won't do so again Hopefully with such an exciting crop of youngsters coming through and a great board backing him he will stay. The stubbornly low attendances must be a push factor though
  22. He wasn't TL, back four was McInally, Syme, McMullen and Penrice. Penrice moved inside when McMullen went off and Ross Fleming came on at lb. Syme is U20s as he played in challenge cup but you are right about McDaid. Pressing from the whole team was excellent but central midfielders particularly good
  23. 3-1 Thistle. Lamont scored after 15 second and two from Neil McLaughlin. Totally dominated the game although fell out of it slightly when we had to reorganise when McMullan went off. Thoroughly enjoyable
