Many may have neither the time or inclination to watch the full hour. However, even if you can last through even the opening submission, you may find cause for consideration of the dangers of the EU system whereby the commission propose legislation to the elected parliament and the bloated bureaucracy of the EU. It is clearly more than optimistic to suggest a more democratic reformation of the EU's top down authoritarianism is achievable. The financial stakes in the lobbies of Brussels make it inherently more susceptible to powerful large multinational corporate interests than nation state democracy. It is surely doubtful if it is at all worth the effort to maintain an extra layer of government where detail, efficiency and the effect on the individual get tangled up in transit to Stuttgart and neglect the interests of the people in favour of the sweet talking, professional lobbyists.

I refer the Honourable member to the answer I gave some moments ago, and ask that he might apply a more liberal analysis while referring to statistics and forming a conclusion.

Disappointing on the face of it. ... But... Never heard of him before he arrived, and has been a bit of a grower in my estimation. Bit injury prone when he first appeared too. Would be missed ... but in Archie we trust!

In run of games he's had since the start of april, I'd wager he's played behind 6 different back four line ups. He's gotta a long way to go to be anywhere near challenging Tam for the jersey, but I think he looks keen for that challenge. A goalie at 23 still has time to prove his worth. Galls is 36 now and was at times outstanding for us last year, and yes Tam is a very deserving POY, but at 30/31 we're hoping this is him just approaching his peak right? That'll be why we offered him a 2 year extension on his contract maybe? TC made his breakthrough in the "all about youth" hamilton team while still in the first div. Won his place and could then work on keeping it after promotion. Ryan's task is arguably alot tougher, trying to break through into a top flight team. He has played a part of our survival this year. 9(?) starts, 3wins(?) 2(?) draws and yeah 4 pretty horrendous defeats and a sending off .... However.... He's had one clean sheet, killie away, a game that really mattered. It's been heart in mouth at times but he's helped get us over the line. As I understand it, he's still considered a bit of a hero at the Pars, and I reckon there's a few there who would take him back for their step up to the first. It's a tricky call for both club and player deciding what's best for his progression and improvement.... we need back up but we need our back up to improve, get game time etc... Scully's still more potential than proven for sure. "One of the worst goalkeepers in thistles history" .... A bit suspect at his near post and should probably grow a beard or sumthin to give him a little more presence... but worst? .... not that i've seen, mate... nah.

The management team's extended commitment is, at the very least, a tangible sign of the club's, granted slow, but thankfully steady, impressively continued and carefully measured progress. The achievement of running a debt free business, was only announced in November. This in itself does not mean we should, or are in a position to, dramatically increase our player budget. Nor, does our likely or achievable final league placing reap great riches. While we are all ambitious to climb the league, we should also consider the unquestionable achievement, and crucial target of, maintaining our place in the top flight. Simply, we're heading in the right direction and at a steady pace. We should be very proud and appreciative of that. I've posted elsewhere that I perceive a "chicken and egg" dilemma for most Scottish clubs. What comes first, successful team or big crowds? I think the efforts our club have made, the innovation, improvisation, dedication and applied talent, in trying to solve the riddle deserve supporting and recommendation, regardless of present results. ... Spread the word... Being a Jags Fan is a good and noble thing. It's going to be another difficult pre-season preparing for another very tough league campaign... I honestly do not think we could have a better suited man at the helm to plan for provisions and set the course. If your looking for a leisurely cruise in 5* comfort you've bought the wrong boarding pass. This is an adventure, a voyage of discovery and only the brave and hearty should board this ship. Next season's target? ... Winning the league... of course. Ain't it always?

... And that was under the guidance of silky footballing mastermind Dave Bowman! I listened to much of it unfold on the radio too. In fairness to Richard Gordon, I think he was trying to emphasise that despite losing some very decent players, most notably Armstrong, Mackay-Steve, Cifti and Ryan Gauld and others as promising younsters, they have generally been reasonably compensated for their losses and should have been capable of replacing them adequately. They still had a pretty large and competitively paid squad for the Scottish top flight. The thing that perpetually gets on my nipple endz, is the apparently statutory, condescending " we need our 'big' clubs " pish. A line I thought was most prominently used as a "i've really got nothin of any value to say" stop-gap by Willie Miller. The commentator's gushing eulogy at the final whistle, recalling just about all of the arabs unquestionable achievements over the years, tastefully missing out their blatant flaws, swine-ish eff-ups and intermittent c*ntery, made me wonder if my wireless had been possessed by the ghost of Jim Mclean. personally ... I'd blame Darren Jackson. But ... I C N G A F F To me they are just another team in our way. We must win on saturday, win and win again. then when we say to the scottish media's fudderatti "things are changing, deal with it", they might just start to take us seriously instead of constantly pining for the "good" ol' days of blood and snotters and crackin nights oot on the piss with the characters of the game. #Oor season

I've lost too many taps kitting oot 5s teams as the jags and in missionary work overseas. Think this one made it on to the back wall of a pub in Gronnigen, in an intoxicated Jags-fans-every-f**kin-where-hands-across-the-water negotiation with a bemused barmaid, for at least a couple of hours! Nesbitt Pogba ... but Thank fook there's a week to go for planning, and it ain't my call. With the goalies, you'd have to have a good chat with Paul to see if he fancies it. Scully's done ok since he came in, definite talent and hopefully he'll take alot from his wee run. He's no bombscare but he's yet to have a clean sheet(?) since he came in and that could be vital in the 3 remaining games. These games are too important for selection to be influenced by individual's feelings or pride. We're all in this together, no one is bigger than the club and all that... If Paul's is fit and up for it, his experience trumps Ryan's and the youngster cannae argue with that. Tam's unquestionably our #1, Ryan should focus on ousting him rather than getting butt hurt giving way to his Guru for a couple of games. Huge call ether way. Frans, in my mind, only just sneaks past Lindsay, and if Welsh was playing more like himself, I'd maybe have Miller in the middle alongside Dan. I'd be looking for a game of the season from either Freddy or Liam. Gary in the midfield? he's been solid and professional all year, whatever he's been asked to do.... maybe his hard work would kick Abdul back into gear after last saturday's effort. With Banzo still out, and not too much to shout about in Fraser or Elliot's contributions this year, the attacking-mid is easy to run off. However, there are options, and might be worth trying to get a little more worth out of young nesbitt's loan before it expires... And for me ... it's gotta be Dools. ... my tuppence worth ... glad to delegate to AA though. Whatever... Players have gotta be fired up for this. Even those with one eye on elsewhere for next year... Big game this, alot of people will be watching, even if the atmosphere at rugby park is a bit flat... Kinda game that tells alot about a player as well as a team. Early goal either way and it will be interesting (as well as ar5e collapsingly nerve racking if it goes the wrong way) to watch if heads go down or who are the 100%s ... It's been more a season of 4 quarters than one of 2 halves. Looking at our poor start, the first 11 games, 6 defeats,3 draws and two wins. Other than St.perth and dungdee, we lost to the teams who have ended up top 6, and beat or drew with those in the bottom half come the finale 1. We've had little change from the top 3, one draw away at aberdeen. 2. Of the next three we beat them all at Firhill but got nothing away ( St. J the exception). 3. We're currently bottom of the next three. That's really due to our abject display on saturday against a team we've done well against this year (but who are currently on a tidy wee run, 3 wins in 5 and a creditable draw with hearts before tanking us) and this season's bogey team Dungdee. 4. Of the 3 below us, none have beaten us. 9 Games - 5 wins 4 draws. 100% return with no goals conceded against DU. Saturday's bomb-scare aside, the last 9-12 Games more or less tell the story of our season. : Partick 1 - 0 Motherwell Partick 2 - 0 St Johnstone Motherwell 3 - 1 Partick St Johnstone 1 - 2 Partick Hearts 1 - 0 Partick Partick 1 - 2 Aberdeen Partick 1 - 2 Celtic Hamilton 1 - 2 Partick Partick 0 - 0 Kilmarnock Partick 1 - 0 Dundee Utd Ross County 1 - 0 Partick Partick 1 - 2 Dundee Partick 1 - 4 Inverness CT The only real anomaly in the current standings from a Thistle perspective is ST. Perth and Dungdee should switch places and we were a goal away from taking County's top 6 berth. ( said before i don't like pointing fingers... Scully has shown he's got something to add to the squad since he's come in, but .... I'd give anything to have had Cerny between the posts for that game.) Saturday was woeful. We really do need to pull the finger oot and push for the line, no question there. Even I would struggle to defend the team if we let this slip now. However, We could finish on 50 points. Going on stats alone, we have a 19 point haul from a possible 27 from the teams we have still to play. Bottom line for me is anything less than 4 points from our last three games deserves a bollocking. 5 points would satisfactory. 6 or more is expected, given what is at stake, and is more than achievable. The players should not need reminded of how this finish might reflect on them as individuals. It's still on course to have been our most consistent year yet. Beating last year's points tally still very much in our own hands and within our capacity going on form and statistics. We start with Killie, who look to have a bit of fire in their belly. We have to match that, and remind them of the last time we paid them a visit. ETA : sorry for the edits... c&p-ing results is a pain in the hole!

If we'd got a result at Ross county, the progress and achievement of the team would be so much easier to define. We lost out on the early safety of a top 6 place by a couple of goals. Season 1 - we were off the pace, sitting in the play off spot at the split. Season 2 - we left it all too late, despite a very decent run from february, we could only raise our league placing from 9th to 8th. We hit the split after a win at the Well which put us 5 points behind 7th place Hamilton. Season 3 - We were a baw hair away, closer than ever before from tangibly establishing ourselves as a progressing top flight club. Saturday's result was an abomination. No argument from me there. The season is not over and any more performances like that could throw away and ruin another good season of, granted slow and minimal but, very difficult and hard won progress.

It's not been a typical premier since we arrived. No rangers and hibs and hearts relegated. DU have gone from 4th to relegation bait and Motherwell have gone from finishing 2nd to play-off battlers and back to decent contenders in the 3 seasons we've been up. The level of competition we have faced, based on a general consideration of the stature, reputation, followings and potential spending power of those around us, has arguably risen and will arguably rise again next year. Since the reformation of the leagues in the mid 70s which saw the formation of a smaller top division for the elite of the Scottish game, designed to make more games matter, intensify competition and avoid mid-table end of season routine, we have only ever managed 6 consecutive seasons at this level, at our first attempt. After ten years of trying we returned for another four. Relegated, we had a 7 year gap before returning again only to manage two seasons mixing it with the best in the land before being relegated, languishing some 8 points adrift at the very bottom of the table after winning only 6 games and collecting only 26 points. Currently we in our 3rd year in the top flight with a very good chance of making a 4th. While I doubt anyone with an interest and affection for Thistle is content with that. Improvement and the endeavour of achieving it is not always as enjoyable or as easy as would make it attractive to everyone. However, Yes ... we are progressing.

Punt? Yes. Take it? Aye... depending on the stake... Could be the experts nap amongst any pre-season recruits. Saw "Muirhead" - Thought "Aero". Not saying we should tap up the "Bairn". Just that the "boab", still has alot to prove.
