  1. Haha, this is the kind of conversation that just 10 years ago would have been incomprehensible to most supporters. Let's hope that our youngsters and older "with it" guys can keep things going, and see PTFC do some amazing things before too long!
  2. Arguably the best Thistle-related news since the season ended! Reason for a celebratory drink this evening.
  3. Aren't rumours and speculation a big part of the entertainment during the summer, followed by the dismay or the delight, and of course the expert opinions of forum members, when each new player finally gets unveiled?
  4. Hmm, what should our sporting director have done since his appointment a few weeks ago that would have "shown the value" of having him, in your opinion?
  5. I thought that was a pretty good interview.
  6. RIP. Sorry that I didn't see him play for us.
  7. Jeez, this kind of thing seems to happen to us every year.
  8. Domo arigato gozaimasu, Admin. You didn't need to take this on, but you've done a great job. All the best to you and your nearest and dearest.
  9. Who'll get the last word in?
  10. Probably the most articulate manager/head coach we've had since most of us can remember. No "Listen"s at the start of every sentence. No "Definaaateelley"s (so far). Please, God...... No "early doors" when we lose an (bound to happen) early goal.
  11. I wonder what is the percentage of players loaned out that end up getting shown the door by their "parent" club is, My (vague) guess is the majority.
  12. All can go. Wouldn't mind if Mitchell and Jakubiak are given another season.
  13. Looking forward to seeing how the Wilson-Barraclough partnership pans out, and happy with them both in their positions. Don't forget, everybody: Davie McParland didn't exactly set the heather alight right at the start of the season when he took over. It took a lot of tweaking of formations and tactics to get us playing the great stuff that eventually paid its dividends.
  14. Our Head Coach is more important.
  15. I dunno..... Pressley might help us make sure we're not caught in a trap.
  16. I reckon a one-word answer is enough: Money.
  17. Great!! ETA; I wonder if any TTA sleuths have tried to track down a copy of The Buteman for that week? It sounds like the kind of event the local paper would have covered.
  18. Our Head Coach is more important.
  19. Interesting, thanks. "Compromise" and "accountability". I'm still wondering how it'll work out. Out of all those teams (at all levels) that have appointed a SD, how many have won their leagues or Cups? If (as I suspect) it's a small minority, then is there any real point?
  20. Only in the eyes of some slow-to-understand individuals.
  21. "and work a bit of magic in transfer window too" I agree, and that statement raises the issue of who's responsible for the "magic" now; is it the head coach, or the SD? What if they don't see eye to eye?
  22. Other than the Scottish Cup, I don't even pay attention any more to what's in store for us in the colourfully named trophies that are in reality pretty worthless, as we are also-rans every time. I know that's also the case for the SC, but at least that's a series of one-off home or away matches (or at least one)!
  23. I can understand some folk thinking that he's got what it takes when the circumstances suit him; I even thought he had a brilliant second half to the season before last. But in the harsh reality of life, ideal circumstances don't come around too often, and more often than not this season, regardless of where he played, I saw monotonously wasted free-kicks and corners, lightweight (almost laughable) challenges to win the ball back, terrible first touches, and a ratio of sideways to forward passes of around 5:1. In other words, he could disappear from the team and not be missed. If he's still here for next season, he'll get my support, but for that to continue he'll need to play better.
