I can understand some folk thinking that he's got what it takes when the circumstances suit him; I even thought he had a brilliant second half to the season before last. But in the harsh reality of life, ideal circumstances don't come around too often, and more often than not this season, regardless of where he played, I saw monotonously wasted free-kicks and corners, lightweight (almost laughable) challenges to win the ball back, terrible first touches, and a ratio of sideways to forward passes of around 5:1. In other words, he could disappear from the team and not be missed.
If he's still here for next season, he'll get my support, but for that to continue he'll need to play better.
