Versus Aberdeen

Disappointing to come away with nothing yesterday because we had created some decent chances that we should have done better from. Aberdeen though were the better team throughout the match. The did get a big slice of luck when the ref allowed the first goal – these decisions always seem to get against you when you in a situation like ours.

 

There is not a great deal wrong with the side we have but we do need Archie to bring in some quality – the league is tougher this year. Hearts are much stronger than St Mirren and County have strengthened considerably. Hamilton off to a good start is not good news for us either.

 

As other posters has said the link between midfield and attack is a big problem. Playing Welsh, Banzo and Osman is something that needs split up. For me Banzo would have been my man of the match, he did most of the work in midfield. Welsh was okay in parts but really should have done better with his chance.

 

Big Pogba did well enough considering he is short of match fitness. It was asking a lot of him to make an impact in game against a very good defence like Aberdeen have. Hopefully he will make an impact against Dundee.

 

Lindsay had a good game at the back along with Miller who also did well. Frans was having a good game till he was taken off – hopefully his injury is not too serious.

 

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Archie not putting on a third substitute – very strange. Both Lawless and Mcdaid were tiring and Amoo’s pace on the wings would have been a welcome move.

 

On Mcdaid the criticism on here is well over the top – it’s hard to jump from playing under 20’s to lining up against a side as good as Aberdeen and he worked very hard. He could turn out to be a good player for us if he continues to improve.

 

The Dundee game is huge.
