elevenone
Always sad to read of passing of ex-jag. 4 seasons with us in early 60's. Wee write up from Dunfermline's website. RIP Ian. http://www.dafc.co.uk/story.php?t=Ian_Cowan&ID=9638
lady-isobel-barnett
A very sad loss. I can mind Ian playing in our famous season when we finished third. Think Ian was brought in to replace Tommy Ewing and tho' that was no easy task he did so admirably. Also seem to mind that when Ewing returned Ian kept his place on the wing with Tommy forced to play inside. RIP, Ian

robphil
i have related this tale before but if a good story is worth teling once, then it's worth telling twice...: back in the days when sawdust was used for the touchlines, 'cowboy' cowan (who, like so many thistle wingers, could be a tad flaky) took an acrobatic tumble in front of the excellent main stand. when he rose to his feet, his head was a gooey mixture of blood and sawdust whereupon a small boy's voice could heard: : 'Aw naw,, his heid's burst...' in full flow, ian cowan was an exhilarating sight on the wing. another early hero passes on...
Mojo4171
So sorry to hear this news. Best memory of Ian Cowan was seeing both him and Jimmy Johnstone getting sent off at Firhill after holding one another, 4 feet apart, by their red hair whilst trying to kick lumps out of each other. Don't think a kick or punch landed! Great player in our great season 62-
