  1. it was my lucky red polo neck which I wore to all the games in these days and if you think that was bad you should have seen the lucky underpants. My polo neck was lucky! 4 1 71
  2. Met the Swindon FC club coach driver on holiday says no-one in their right mind would go to Swindon. The owner of the club is banned from the team bus because of his attitude to the players and staff. He charges the club for use of the stadium and training grounds, which he owns, and is systematically bleeding the club dry. He also only allowed a previous manager ( Cooper) from having contact with the players until the Friday before a Saturday game. I don't know what Archie gets paid but the Swindon job does pay £1500.00 per week which does seem a good salary for their league, however the driver said he did not think they would see next season out.
  3. So sorry to hear this news. Best memory of Ian Cowan was seeing both him and Jimmy Johnstone getting sent off at Firhill after holding one another, 4 feet apart, by their red hair whilst trying to kick lumps out of each other. Don't think a kick or punch landed! Great player in our great season 62-63
  4. Anyone know what's happening with Gary, there's been no mention of him in the squads for the friendly games and not mentioned in Scott Patersons injury update in the evening times.
  5. Don't know if I missed it but did archie ever sign a new contract?
  6. Enoughs enough guys. We should all be Jags fans on here delighted that Archie and the team have another season to develop into a permanent fixture in the SPFL Lets look forward and stop all this stupid nonsense and name calling.
  7. Wash your mouth out junior.....those 4 walked with Gods!
  8. Wonder if McNamara will allow him to play next week, will be interesting if he does play!
  9. Renewed my season ticket in usual row and seat number in the city end of the Jackie Husband as have my mates, got to the match today and found that the rows alpha tags have been repainted and somehow moved four or five rows further back !!! Anyone else notice if this is the same thru out the stand?
  10. Red and Yellow ribbons What the F***k are you on about go back to your other team, you know the type!,! Born and brought up in PARTICk and followed the Jags for the best part of 60 years. Brother, sons and Grandson Jags supporters. Taken to my first game in 1963 by my Father who always called his team PARTICK 78 years. So what kind of type are we? Go and have a cold bath the heat must be getting to you
  11. On holiday at present in Croatia and have just returned from a day trip to. Montenegro who use the euro. Strange in that Montegro are not in the EU. When they split from a union with Serbia they did not have a currency of their own. They decided to use the euro to facilitate a new tourist trade with the agreement of Brussels. The European Central Bank do not interfere in bank rates etc leaving it up to Montenegros own financial institutions. Strange how Scotland could not do this with the pound if they so wish. Anyone ever been to The independent Isle of Man who use the pound, offer rather strange money opportunities without involvement of the Bank Of England. I guess we have to say no on the grounds that we cannae do that or youcannae do this! Bye the way Mobile charges a d roaming are just the same as anywhere else and for a country who was at war with itself in the 1990s don't have bar wire fences at border controls.
  12. Found a iPhone in Rayberry St after game. Pretty old and not in service. Can read contacts etc, PM me with details of phone and will return next Tuesday.
  13. In the sixties teams played in three competitions..... League Champions ....European Cup Runners up ....Inter Cities Fair Cup Scottish Cup winners...European Cup Winners Cup. In Season 62/63 Jags finished third behind Rangers and Kilmarnock. Kilmarnock decided not to play in Europe but opted for a tournament in New York leaving the way for the Jags. By 1971 the fair cities had gone and following our win the SFA successfully portioned for us to play in the EUFA cup
  14. Jimmy was a long time director and club servant made Hon President after he retired. For my age group 60 + was probably the first time we became aware of club directors other than the Reid family.
  15. Couldnt make the game today but a great result for the boys. Lets hope that we can go top on Tuesday. The BBC Reporter Jane Lewis was pathetic and is obviously not a Jags Fan. No word of the saves of Cuthbert and just a bye the way 4 booked in a incident. She seemed frightened to interrupt the other eejits glad I don't have to listen to that dross every week.
  16. This is a Partick Thistle forum so couldn't give a flying f**k how a Dundee team beat a 3rd Division diddy team.
  17. Quote ' its all speculation' piss of Jackie you deserve all thats coming to you.
  18. Looking at this 7 points out of 9 from Livvy is great form. Nice football team but I thought Smith was poor and with Fox in goals it could have been 9 out of 9. Have we signed Smith? Thought he had been released.
  19. 58 years of watching Dungfermline putting us out of the cup. Son gutted, grandson gutted, can't believe that that bunch of dross put us out. Worst of all was listening to Jeffries condensing B...t...d, Dargo was clever etc. c'mon jim it was better when you didn't have a good word for anyone. Big disappointed was the loss of money from any future rounds to extend the guys contracts. The game on Saturday is huge, hope Jackie can get the guys up for it! One last thought all the Jags fans who sat in the pub at three o'clock on Saturday and never bothered their A...rse get the finger out! We need you.....you know who you are.
  20. Glavin started his career at Firhill as a centre forward and was a complete numpty nicknamed wooden top after a children's puppet series. It was Davy Mcthistle who moved him back to right half and the rest is history. The 71 game against Celtic was made safe when Jimmy Johnstone had to be taken off after meeting the bold Ronnies boot. He had a mixed time at Porkheid and was part of a large ex jag representation including Assistant Mngr Davie Mcparland, Jimmy Bone and Johnny Gibson. If only we had managed to hold on to that group the seventies would have been magical
  21. With the onset of a new season and a new feeling of optimism, further attempts to attract our lost support and attract the OF fans who are sick of the crap we experienced over the summer is it time to ditch hello hello? I know it is bit of a battle him to show that we are not tainted by the Sectarianism of the OF but if we are to grow our support and to encourage a new generation of Jags fans I think it has to go. Thoughts?
  22. PFA assistant chief exec about to give his views.. I give you that Jags legend Bobby Barnes!
