exiledjag
Great result and now only 4 points off top place albeit we have played a game more than Dundee. Why were we wearing the kit with the yellow top and red vertical stripes and black shorts? Wonder who will drop to the benchvwhen Doçherty is fit. Hopefully not Turner. Said often enough the key type of player we're missing is a no nonsense defensive midfielder. Ideally I'd like to see us bring one in next month if we can find someone of decent quality. Such a deal may only be possible if one or two players were to leave. So a lot would depend on both getting the right player and players willing to leave. We were going on justifiably at times about our brittle defence but with a real defensive mid in place the defence wouldn't be exposed as often as it has been. Even when we play well against our league rivals it's noticeable how easy our midfield allows our opponents to waltz by them. Last night was I reckon an exception and possibly why Banzo and Turner, and to a lesser degree McKinnon, had outstanding performances. So in a way, if we did fill that defensive mid role, it's not just Docherty's return that could cause a selection headache. But that would be a good problem to have. With that gap filled we'd likely see more of the Bannigan of last night. Turner would be able to concentrate on playing behind Graham. Maybe coming across a bit negative but not meaning to. I believe that we're just the one player short of mounting a sustained challenge.
