Only after I've been out for the Count Thursday night.

Pretty good chance Lib Dems will actually take Glasgow North. Could be a late night though

I've heard that a lot of seats won't be declared until Friday, as in breakfast time. Not sure how true that is, and if it only refers to Engurlundshire. :unknw:

If so, it'll kill a lot of the 'excitement' value of staying up nearly all night watching the usually constant stream of gains, holds and losses.

Personally, I'll be getting home in the wee small hours after a day's canvassing and the de rigeur vigil at our local count venue, 'exchanging differences of opinion' with the Master Race.

Whatever the final outcome, here's at least hoping for as many 'BNP lose their deposit' updates as possible. Say 'NO' to Nazism.

:)

Lib Dems also say NO to the BNP and attendant Natzism

Tories probably do as well to be fair :)

The Lib Dems have a very good track record of opposing fascism and nazism.

I'm sure this is also true of a number of Tories, although over the years the right wing of the Tory party has almost been a revolving door into the dark and sinister world of extreme nationalism.

I was at a debate last night between the local candidates from Rushcliffe (where I live, currently held by Ken Clarke) and North West Leicestershire (currently vacant). It seems that voting in a constituency where Conservatives have such a large majority is pointless, but it really depressed me that the Labour candidate (Andrew Clayworth) didn't seem to have a clue how to answer any of the questions asked, and I got the impression Labour are just going through the motions in this constituency and sending out someone who doesn't have a chance. I had been intending on voting for him as what I had previously read of his I agreed with, and I do support the Labour party, but when the candidate appears totally clueless it is difficult to give him your vote. The other Labout candidate didn't show.

The green candidate did very well, but due to their policy on organic/GM food there is no way I would vote for them as it just inhibits scientific research, and I like my GM food thank you very much. Conservatives looked strong - Clarke is one of the biggest names in UK politics so it would have been surprising if they didn't - but he is still a smug b****** and I'm definitely no fan of the party. UKIP came across very well, but they have to seem like people with proper morals when it comes to the non-controversial policies. The LD candidate for North Leicestershire was brilliant, like an entertaining version of Dale Winton, very knowledgable and clear in what he said. The other LD, Karrar Kahn was late, so answered a question about local services with the exact same answer the other LD used for a question on spending cuts/tax rises. His mobile went off half way through too.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm just very disappointed in Labour. Guess it doesn't really matter who I vote for anyway.

That's not fair. I just helped you make your best post so far on this board and in return you made me out to be some weirdy beardie! That's gratitude for you!

I was probably one of the first people to complete all of Scotland's Munro's WITHOUT A BEARD. Do you see Nick Clegg with a beard?

Posr 232 was supposed to offer a ceasefire so we could concentrate on analysis of what is shaping up to be the most interesting election for many, many years

Where's the fun in that?

And I'm sure I saw a picture of Clegg with a beard in the Social Democrats manifesto...

Anyway I agree with you - thoroughly looking forward to tomorrow night! :thumbsup2:

Have to say that it looks from all the polls that Cameron is going to win. Might just sneak the overall majority given that polls usually slightly underestimate the Tory vote. Ach well, did our best

The craziest thing in politics today is actually what is happening in Greece. Will this be the UK in a few weeks time?

As for the beard fun, I'm saving my Brazilian jokes for the World Cup.

The deaths in Greece today were pretty shocking - was watching Sky News in work. Thankfully the worst that happens to me in work is getting shouted at by an angry customer (the best one of which thought we were Natwest and when she finally stopped shouting and I told her her bank was across the road she just turned and stormed out...)

Depends what poll you look at. YouGov is still predicting Labour as the biggest party, no?

Am back in Glasgow tomorrow to have an end-of-exam meal with my girlfriend and then heading home to watch the coverage (although I bet she falls asleep about 12pm) which will be enjoyable.

It's fascinating stuff, no-one really knows what will happen as it seems so many are still undecided.

Apparently Brown has first shout on what arrangement to take to the Queen though.

I'd bet on a win for Cameron but Lib-Lab pact to be put before the Queen. Vince Cable Chancellor this time next week. Could Ming Campbell still bcome Foreign Secretary?

The Civil Service have issued guidelines to the effect that if it's a Hung Parliament, the current PM remains in office until it becomes clear he cannot command a majority in a vote of confidence in Parliament (taken to be the Queen's Speech). In effect, he does get first "dibs" on negotiation with the LibDems, but if that falls through, Brown will almost certainly have to resign as Prime Minister unless he's bullish enough to push on into a Queen's Speech without a coalition partner. As/when he tenders his resignation, the person most likely to be able to command a majority in the Commons will be invited to form a Government. That would, most likely, take the form of a Conservative minority Government or a LibCon coalition. If the Conservatives get defeated in a vote of confidence or it looks like they're going to be, they'll probably ask the Queen to dissolve Parliament again, or perhaps ask that it be prorogued while people sort things out.

That would be shocking and totally undemocratic and I (and I hope a lot of people) would lose all respect for the Lib Dems if they used their burst of popularity to prop up a failing old government. Indeed the thought that this could happen should lead any Liberal Lib Dem voters to vote Conservative.

Saying that, I think a Conservative-DUP pact to gain a majority, if a pact is even required, will be fine thanks.

There's no way that if it's a Hung Parliament, the Tories will be able to rely on the Irish Parties to get them over the line. That would require them to be about 8-10 seats short, which isn't going to happen. If it's going to be a Hung Parliament, it's going to be by at least 40, I reckon.

In the hopefully unlikely event that there are one or two on here who are still thinking of voting for the British Nazi Party, I urge you to watch this. It's not pretty.
