League Reconstruction

Sorry - I remain unconvinced! There is a UEFA requirement for 34 league games per season. The simplest way of achieving that is with two divisions of 18, playing once each home and away. Problem is - that only accommodates 36 teams, whereas we have 42 to consider. So, go back one step and have three divisions of 14 teams - home and away once each gives 26 games, with 8 more league games required. Any offers of the preferred solution to this sum?

The Danish league only play 33 games and the Norwegian and Swedish leagues play 30 games a season. The Scandinavians must've left UEFA without anyone noticing.

It's really quite simple.

We should have a 14 team top league. Everyone plays each other twice, home and away - 26 games.

The league then splits into 6/8. Each players each other twice, home and away - 10 games for the top 6 14 games for the bottom 8.

4 OF games for TV - Sorted

More income for the teams in the bottom half - Sorted through two extra games.

Have 2 up and 2 down - Winners and runners up. - Sorted

The second division should have a league of 16, playing each other twice home and away.

Below that another league of 16 before descending into regionals.

I have been looking into a system, where level 1-3 includes senior and some top non-senior clubs, level 4-6 includes rest of non-senior clubs plus junior clubs and best of amateur clubs and level 7 and below is strictly amateur clubs. It will of course include the SFA taking responsibility for Scottish football as a whole, therefore totally pie in the sky stuff, but hey ho, can always dream eh.

Level 1:

Division A - 18 teams, 36 games, two up/down, 3rd bottom play-off with Div B no. 3 (Current SPL teams plus top Division 1 teams)

Level 2:

Division B - 18 teams, 36 games, two up/down, No. 3 play-off with Div A 3rd bottom (Current bottom Division 1 teams, Division 2 teams and top Division 3 teams)

Level 3:

Division C North - 12 teams, 22 games (Rest of division 3 teams plus top Highland League teams)

Division C South - 12 teams, 22 games (Rest of division 3 teams plus top East of Scotland League teams)

Top 6 in Division C North & South join, 12 teams, 11 games, two up

Bottom 6 in Division C North & South join, 12 teams, 11 games, four down

Level 4:

Division D North, 16 teams, 30 games, 0-4 up, 0-4 down (Non-league senior teams plus top junior teams)

Division D South, 16 teams, 30 games, 0-4 up, 0-4 down (Non-league senior teams plus top junior teams)

Level 5:

Division D1 North-West, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams)

Division D1 North-East, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams)

Division D1 South-West, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams)

Division D1 South-East, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams)

Level 6:

Further regionalisation including junior teams and possibility for amateur teams to enter.

Level 7:

Strictly amateur
