Any thoughts?

Lee Wallace returning is biggest headline, very few suprises elsewhere.

What are your thoughts on the inclusion of a div 3 player?

I am by no means suggesting Aaron Sinclair is up to international standards...one day I've a feeling he'll be in with a shout. But he's playing at a much higher level, and doesn't even get a look in at u21 level!

I liked Wallace at Hearts, similar style to Sinclair, bombs forward at every possibility, but he's not been tested for months and we're considering putting him up against the likes of Eden Hazard in a month or two!

Can't blame Strachan for wanting a look, beggars can't be choosers after all.

I like the look of the squad, a lot of players in epl, and thats without d fletcher. No Dorans I notice though. We really did under achieve under Levein. Though we could be doing with a decent centre half emerging. Berra had a lot of potential but every goal Wolves concede he has his part in. He's a total bombscare now. I actually don't mind Caldwell, a lot of my friends don't rate him, but I don't mind him. Andy Webster - dud. Hanley- i don't know enough about. What happened to Danny Wilson? Did I read he's back in spl now? What a waste, thought he'd turn out a good player

I agree with the point re miller.

Hutton - hopeless at club level but i cant really say ive thought he's been poor for scotland.

I think Adam has something to offer, hasn't shown it yet for Scotland but in my mind he's worth persevering with. Burke I cannot comment on, haven't saw a lot of him this year.

Are the call-ups mentioned to appease the press and Scotland fans with Sevconian leanings? :P

Good luck to Strachan and his squad. I would like to see Scotland get some wins on the board and move towards pot 3 rather than pot 5 :D

The point is though there must be plenty of decent left backs playing Div 1/SPL (OK SPL too many duff foreigners) and in Championship (I'll stop there as apart from Bardsley a RB who can play OK at LB - there's not really anybody in the EPL).

If a guy is wasting his time in Div 3 his standards will slip: there must be half a dozen at least U19/U21 or like Sinclair close to good enough for U21 though a little too old: how are we going to find and develop the new players we need if up and coming young players are ignored for a guy in Div 3 just cause he plays for Newgers?

Lee Wallace is only 25 and time will tell if his standards have slipped playing in DIV 3.

If it's all about the standard of the league you play in then all the players picked should be playing in England or elsewhere as it's a higher standard than here.

It's Scotland we are talking about so when was the last time high standards came into play.

A long long time ago when we produced good fitba players ;)

Actually, I´m really interested in watching Hutton play against some skilful wingers here in Spain. He seems to be fit and ready to play against Zaragoza in the weekend. I thought he´s been rubbish over the last two seasons, never recreating the form he had at Ibrox during the end of the 2000´s.

No new names, same players in the squad, we´ll see if Strachan takes some more production from them that Levein did.

I think in his first squad he needs to look at what has been considered our best or is close to our best team prior to now and identify weak points before arranging a larger squad get together and having a serious look at fringe players. I suppose he's probably seen every Scotland game over the past several years, but he also needs to get a look at them when taking instructions from him. Not really bothered about this squad so much, but I'll be much more interested to hear his next squad.

Personally I don't like him picking Wallace. It's obviously a political move to get the knuckle draggers on side as I don't see how you can make an instant step up from playing Montrose to an international game.

Saying that though if he picks players entirely from Rangers and qualifies from the group then I couldn't care less.
