Compare that to the likes of scrawny Banjo McKinstry or Jamie Dolan the last time we won the first division.

All that matters is the job they did for the club. I was never a fan of Jamie (RIP) until he came to Firhill but he was a great wee player for us. Tragic that he died so young!

Think it's only right that he got a new deal. Not saying he is spl standard but is still a young guy and certainly has had something to offer from the bench. Lacks a bit of composure in his final ball, passing & shooting but that will come with game time experience.

Probably would benefit from loan deal at start of season. Any ideas on length of contract? 1 or 2 year deal?

Uberbeeb is spot on. He's miles off SPL standard

What exactly is "SPL standard"? The only SPL teams I've seen since we were was last in the SPL have been the odd occasion we've played cup games against teams from that league so I'm a bit rusty in judging quality. Even if we had played against SPL clubs more often I'd still only be able to make a judgement on the players that played against us and not the rest of their squad.

If what you're saying is that Elliot is "miles off" being an SPL squad player and you reckon he has shown no potential to reach that lofty height then fair enough. t've just had a look at the squad with which we entered.the SPL last time round and I don't think Elliot, on last season's later form, would've be out of place within that lot. Again I've no idea what currently goes for SPL standard but I kinda think there's unlikely to be much difference.

The Glaswegian reports that Elliott has signed a 2 year deal.

“I didn’t hesitate to agree terms on a new deal which will take me through to May 2015.

“The experience of being part of the squad which won the First Division title will live with me forever. Now we can look forward to playing at grounds like Celtic Park and it’s exciting to be a part of it all.

“I want to enjoy a few weeks holiday and then come back and work as hard as I can to make sure I’m in the manager’s thinking.

“He has already signed boys like Kris Doolan, Ross Forbes and Stephen O’Donnell on new deals
so hopefully more will come in over the summer.

“It’s a chance to test yourself at the top level and I’m desperate to make the most of that opportunity.”
