  1. Agreed - Thought we played well today but need to sharpen up in front of goal. Penalty largely came because we didnt clear our lines. SInclair and Erskine fannied about with it & put Archie in a shit position. The penalty though was soft. Liked the look of Robertson - he looked shattered midway through the second half and he clearly still needs a bit of match sharpness (I hope, otherwise he is rather slow!) Not sure Jackie Mac really fancies Grehan - it didnt really happen for the front 2 yet Grehan didnt get the shout...
  2. Not sure if anyone else signs up for the daily Guardian football email but todays is quite funny...worth a wee read below if your bored ~~~~~ IT'S THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST, SO THE POPE'S O'RANGERS MUST BE ON THE VERGE OF GOING OUT OF BIG CUP While it's easy for jaded cynics to wonder what exactly Scottish fitba is for, if nothing else the annual exit of the Pope's O'Rangers from Big Cup serves as a warning that the English football season is about to begin. After their Euro Disnae League title defence was derailed by a draw with Hearts that prompted their notoriously patient fans to boo them from the field, O'Rangers' season went from "yer maw" to "skaggy baws" when a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Malmo left them on the cusp of elimination. With O'Rangers fans banned from Malmo's Swedbank Stadium as part of a Uefa punishment for singing sectarian songs (or songs, as they are known to many at Ibrox), it has been left to the home fans to cause trouble at tonight's second leg and it seems the Swedish side's support are more than up to the task. Last Saturday, for the second time this season, one of Malmo's league matches was abandoned when fireworks were thrown on the pitch during the opening stages of a game against Djurgardens. Earlier this year, a match against Helsingsborgs was stopped when a Malmo fan confronted the opposition goalkeeper. "I looked at the team and the coach maybe rested one or two players and then it ended up with the vast majority of them getting a rest with the game only lasting for 11 minutes," chuckled Ally McCoist, whose lame quip would suggest he might be pining for a return to the slightly less hostile cauldron that is the A Question of Sport studio. With his captain David Weir, 89, struggling with a hamstring injury probably sustained as a result of exiting his Stannah Stairlift too quickly, McCoist was grateful that a work permit-related rick which ruled centre-half Dorin Goian ineligible was overturned and the Romanian can now play. The O'Rangers cause has not been helped by the fact that they're currently embroiled in a bust-up with Dundee United after failing with a seventh bid for striker David Goodwillie, who looks Blackeye Rovers-bound despite boasting an amusing name that would afford the Ibrox faithful the opportunity to come up with a new repertoire of amusing new ditties about something other than religious denomination. "Rangers can say what they like but they would have got David if they had made the right offer at the right time. They didn't," harrumphed Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson in response to claims from O'Rangers that he wouldn't have sold them the striker out of spite. Let's face it, if Scottish fitba was half as entertaining on the field as it is in the boardrooms and stands, we'd be unable to tear ourselves away.
  3. Same shorts & socks for away strip or is that just a typo on the Greaves website?
  4. Probably used some money put aside for wages
  5. More news than actual signing but Accies fan was telling me Hodge played a bounce game for them the other day. I think he'll find it tough to get another club - bit of a luxury player to be honest. His attitude seems to stink as well - A guy I work with drinks in the same place as Hodge and told me that if he didnt leave absolutely trollied then it was a surprise!
  6. For info: Scumdee Website Administrators wanted to make him & Griffiths redundant but Dundee managed to convince that boy Jackson to keep them so they didnt get relegated & that they would hopefully receive a transfer fee for them...which as it turns out they have done.
  7. Was speaking to a Morton fan last night & he thought Kenny would be joining them. Allan Moore & Kenny would have crossed paths at Firhill unless im mistaken. Was it not also Colin Stewart who 'ousted' Kenny at Firhill...only to make an absolute, complete ar$e of it?!
  8. I doubt it. Flannigan has been on holiday for the past few weeks...it seems to have happened fairly swiftly from there
  9. Yes - the offer we gave him was paltry - I didnt believe it at first to be honest. That figure above was our first offer...Our final offer was something like £11k off the final position he negotiated to with Morton
  10. Was told today we offered Stuart McCaffrey a contract - 2 year deal. He would have liked to have signed for us but he got a 2 year contract extension/offer from Morton & they were willing to offer him an extra £14k/year.
  11. Delighted if true Would be interested to know the other person interviewed?!
  12. Great news...delighted hes staying
  13. You mis-heard. He is going to do a number 2 in McCoists shoe...
  14. Oh dear...the pitch is absolutely fuked!
  15. Did Gerry Collins win 1 league game or was it 3 draws in his reign? Edited to add: Im not going to get on Jackie Mac's case if he doesnt win any of his 5 games. He has inherited an injury ravaged team and does not have an option who he plays. Even if he didnt win 1 of his 5 games I still believe he will be a success as a manager at Firhill
  16. What the fuk does a general manager do at a club in the Scottish first division?!
  17. I dont think your a million miles away there - i thought something similar I also think that David Beattie is the kind of guy who will be of the opinion that if someone wants to go then you get rid of them asap as they arent going to give it 100%. McCall may have said Im off in the summer & DB has just said fuk it - you might as well go now & we'll see if Jackie Mac & Sid are any good. If not then we'll have someone lined up to come in for June
  18. I think Jackie Mac, Sid & Ian Cameron could be a really strong management...quietly confident. They have the next 5 games to claim the job for themselves...3 of which are at home. If they have a disastrous run then the board look elsewhere.
  19. Not sure I agree. Why should he have any loyalty to us? McCall & every single fan was for dumping him on the scrapheap last summer. His confidence was nowhere & the fans didnt exactly wholeheartedly get behind & cheer him on - he was scapegoat No.1. He fought back, won his place & has performed consistantly well. He owes us nothing. Fair play to him - he's done well & has rebuilt his career. Personally I think he should be applauded for coming back & getting it right up McCall & the Thistle fans. A footballers career isnt lucrative in the first division so I would be disappointed to see us to stop playing a guy & limiting his income because he wont commit his future to us when 9 months ago he would have been shipped off to anyone 'crazy' enough to pay his wages. If he signs for Dundee though...
  20. Why? He seems to be playing fairly regularly. Were they also not paying us in £20k instalments over 3 years. Im sure they wouldnt release him before he was fully paid up!
  21. Hodge, Flannigan or Robbo...I dont really think we have anyone else as surely Jackie Mac & Sid are done now. I'd say that Hodge or Flannigan is the more likely & Im sure one of them will be kept. Re: Your point on McGurn. I dont think we can can afford to carry a quality 2nd keeper like that given the amount of game time he is 'likely' to get. (Unless Fox gets a long term injury)
  22. Whos in the frame to take over? Usual suspects...McPherson, Chisholm, John Hughers, Jimmy Calderwood again?
