  1. I would have been indifferent, but given his behavior I will be delighted if he shows up Anyone know if there is a Donnely contract in the same situation as McNamoney?
  2. I think this is bull, I don't think Utd could afford to do that. I fail to see the value in posting such speculation. I'm not saying you made it up but, Chinese whispers is all it is.
  3. I wasn't at any as I was born in 1970 so was only 1. Old man was at sea in the merchant navy at the time and told me the stories of all the Jags fans on the ship (said there was a fair old number) having a party when the news came through. So for me only having, the promotions, Tennents sixies and the Craib cup this is an experience I'm really looking forward to. Pretty surprised at some of the comments playing this down as it's not really about what is most important. It's about success (for a change) and we have 2 great opportunities. Roll on Sunday, one at a time just like Archie says. Rest no one and lift that trophy. Do you have any good stories of the cup run in '71? Never really hear much of the other matches like the group stage.
  4. Dundee was away so a decent draw against a team who finished above us. The exertion of the cup final then travelling up to Dundee. No wonder we got humped at Pittodrie. Always thought too much is made of that fact.
  5. Every chance some of what happened tonight was due to tiredness. The work rate in both Cowden games was superb, it would catch up on anybody. Also nerves creeping in and probably a couple of minds drifting to Sunday/Wednesday already.
  6. McMillan slotted in well when he came on in difficult circumstances so a good debut for him actually. Pitch looked fine to me also so no excuses there. That animal Simon Mensing got man of the match presumably for being really good at pushing as that's all he done. Another clean sheet. Another point. 12? matched unbeaten. It's easy to get greedy when the team has been so fecking good this season, credit for the battling in the second half which at the end of the day has resulted in going home with a point. It could EASILY have been worse.
  7. I'll be getting slaughtered at the celebration party that's about it, but enjoy your day out.
  8. Hardie is suspended for it right enough, but they will still win and it rests Hardie before the play us
  9. I don't know what happened in that first half. Poorest I've seen all season. Forgot how to pass a ball. I hate slating Thistle players on a forum so I want. We got away with murder they should have been 1 or 2 up at half-time. On the positive side we were much better in the second half but the resurgence coincided with going down to 10 men for what looked like a 50-50 challenge to all us behind the goal. Shocked when the red came out (I think there was a second yellow before it). A couple of the bookings in the first half were fair enough tbh as we seemed to be frustrated. Probably matched Raith with 10 men but still were extremely wasteful when the chances came on 2 or 3 occasions. Ah well, that's twice this season I've came away from Starks Park and said I'm happy with the point. Who knows how important it may turn out to be........
  10. I see St Johnstone just scored a third minute of injury equaliser against Dungdee Utd to grab a massive point. Saints clinch a top 6 spot and Utd instead of going into the driving seat now have to beat Aberdeen as well as hoping Kili don't win any of their last 2. Smashing.
  11. Aye, that was the first thing my wee boy noticed, and said "why have they all got they hats?, it doesn't make sense!" and then went into hysterics when he noticed the Thistle keeper had a bunnet on as well.
  12. Pretty sure the Thistle game featured here was part of our run where we won the Scottish Cup in 1921. Took 3 attempts in the 4th round to get past Motherwell. Loving that badge. http://ssa.nls.uk/film.cfm?fid=3357&search_term=partick thistle&search_join_type=AND&search_fuzzy=yes
  13. That's it exactly. Most of us have 'suffered' for having good taste over the years. I'm just letting every bit of this genius season ooze into my pores so it can galvanise me against future dross If history tells us one thing with Thistle, the good times can be short-lived although pretty much from 1970 we had a decade of good stuff, after that we completely failed to consolidate the 2 opportunities we had when reaching the Priemier in the nineties and the noughties. We are easily good enough to survive and become a top division perennial and without getting ahead of this season, it's this challenge of consolidation and moving forward that will decide on wether any of the current players/team will reach legendary status worthy of comparison to the '71 side. I looked forward to a sustained period of Jags in the top flight, cup runs, bigger crowds and settling a few grudges.
  14. I would have to throw Paton into the mix.
  15. Foxy has been superb and a candidate for player of the season. Like RabTheJag said in another post he usually has at least one vital save that could have been a game changer. Brilliant keeper.
  16. At Livi-Thistle earlier in the season I was sitting in row A at the front in the middle of the East stand. There are also a few 'extra' seats that periodically stick out from row A and I *think* it could be used for your purpose, but contacting Livi is the only way to know. Hope you make it.
  17. Was great to see Paul Cairney at the Wednesday Cowdenbeth match, would love to see him come back to the fold. Also great to see the Great Lambini at yesterdays game. Can't be arsed with Harkins after scoring against us and running towards us to rub it in, no need, no class.
  18. Great initiative, well done all involved. I'll look forward to seeing the flag at the Dunfermline game.
  19. All well discussed in another thread.
  20. Some challenges worthy of a yellow they got away with for sure. He did give us a few strange decisions for throw ins towards the end but feck knows what the late free kick was for. Special mention for Craigen for the work he done to get the perfect cross in for Doolan, absolutely superb. The cheer that went up when they hit the post was almost as loud as the goals, what a relief and would have been daylight robbery. Thought they were still going to score when it came back in but I *think* that was a Fox save but didn't have the best of views.
  21. indeed. I actually questioned if it was within regulation size as it looks ridiculously small. I think it's the best example this season though of Thistle learning from experience and getting tactics spot on for the game we were going into. McNamoney had one way of playing regardless of the opposition, venue, conditions. It appears that Archie is more tactically aware and is showing versatility and adapting to circumstance.
  22. Good thread. Erskine for me is the best player in a Jags top since super Mo. I think the negative clowns are a very very small minority but always annoying when you hear it. Supporters have a job to do, all be it in a different role from the guys in the park, but the negative guys are a complete failure in their 12 man role and are poor supporters in my opinion. I know people pay their money and are entitled to opinion as much as anyone else but if your getting on teams back your not giving support which is completely counter-intuitive to the reason you are there. The 'critique' can be saved for after the game. During the game it should be total unity for the cause as that is exactly what we expect of the players. Erskine is worth the admission fee alone and is the real icing on the cake of a great side this season.
  23. I said at the time that was Stewart's ball all the way, but the defender seemed to have no confidence in him so pulled Dools back. It was a stonewaller of a sending off though, we were right in line with it as was the assistant. Easy decision.
