  1. anyone remember a guy called alan carson? the only one I ever saw who was as bad as paxton
  2. Agree with Devils Point - not just cos hes my pal! Hearts are a proper club never mind a few neds who think theyre the old firm - every jambo ive met loves scotland fir a start. As DP says the travesty is romanov - and fans naivety that these people give a donald duck after the ego trip and realisation that football does not bring orifit wuthout an international brand. They dont and they leave a car crash behind them - portsmouth are a great example. The silver lining coukd be that clubs end up with sensible boards, running on fans / community input, being prudent, being realustic - hmm ring any bells?
  3. Were buchan and mitchel that bad? Surely not in abercrombie class?
  4. From other teams John mcDonald Igor Stevens (esp when he was pish and with us) Andy Ritchie Neil Cooper **** McGarvey Sandy Clark (and got far worse in 89)
  5. Hated hamilton for years before we got him - deffo had ability, great left peg, but for a big guy had no physical presence and basically didnt try a leg. I know a jambo who has him down as his least favourite player ever for these reasons.
  6. A few bad ones by Lambie Mark McWalter Leigh Palin Ian Gibson (from Aberdeen) But offset by all the good ones!!!!
  7. Quite a team - interesting to see PK in there, and no Shaw or Irons. Pittman probably better than McVicar. Hardie? Probably not, but great for us! Jamieson was good for a wee bit. Agree with Walker ahead of Nelson but some folk rated Nelson. Guess Palin, Gibson, and McWalter just missed out! Probably one for the pub.
  8. Great effort from both this season - we should be grateful for their huge contribution to one of our best ever seasons. I genuinely hope they go on to have great careers and have no doubt they will look back on season 12-13 as the best they ever had in terms of being part of something special and consistent achievement. Think Paton will be harder to replace than we might think - guys like that are big off the park as well as on it. Erskine is unique and in terms of like for like therefore irreplacable - but we can hopefully compensate by playing with different threats.
  9. What were the stats when we went up in 92? Have a feeling we had a v good away record but that could have been another season.
  10. If it's an individual then i think Erskine is right. He's done things not seen at Firhill for a very long time - is he up for player of the year for the whole division?
  11. Like the POTS award, the whole team should have a hand on the trophy when its raised!
  12. Did we once get 2 in last 2 to get a 3-3 v clyde? Colin west got at least one. But not like today to virtually seal promotion!!!!
  13. 38 points out of 42 - unbelievable.
  14. We were losing 7-3 at home to st johnstone and most of the shed was on the way out of the ground when dalziel or someone missed a chance and i caught the ball behind the goal. I stupidly booted it back on only to let loads of abuse from fellow jags for not booting it iut the ground. Think we might have been 3-2 up at half time thanks in part to a volleyed back heel by john donnelly too. And i think we then beat saints 6-2 later in the season to relegate them. Or that could be bollocks.
  15. Not me - i thought it was a disaster! And i thought signing Dowie was terrible.... Maybe i should just keep quiet in future.
  16. Must have done a great job to get the players up after Sunday. I have to admit i feared the worst without Paton and Muirhead. Just fantastic.
  17. What's our break even home attendance? What's our debt?
  18. That is a terrible list - only one player of true onternational class - Gordon was great for a season or two - the rest very mediocre or downright bad.
  19. Think the fans should vote 'the first team squad' as player of the season - esp if we win the Double. Very difficult to separate a lot of the players and a lot of the success has been down to the collective spirit. Regards. Leon Trotsky
  20. Sadly i don't think we're a million miles from this. If the uk debt was to get more expensive, we would quickly be in a position where there would be bo reslistic way of paying it off - like greece, cyprus, etc. the current 'austerity' would be a breeze compared to what that would mean.
  21. Cheers, feel better and well-explained - think i'm just getting nervous that this great team don't do it. Daft!!!
  22. Bit worried about signing anybody - one of the things we have is a collective spirit, not the sort that crap managers pretend they have - 'it won't be through lack of effort and spirit' etc - but real team mentality. Newbies, esp like Dowie who has not made the best of his career, could be a risk. Imagine if Balatoni or Muirhead got dropped after 1 bad game - others in the team might not lime their pals to be in that position. That said i hope the current squad stay fit and i'm sure Archie above all knows how to avoid causing any grief. Probably worrying about nothing!
  23. It will be tough - any team used to winning as much as they have been doing will feel invincible. Hopefully we will too for the same reasons. What sort of football do they play? If it's 'proper' then there should be a great game, given what we do. If it's 'agricultural' then this will suit us less - although under Archie we seem to be far more resilient against such tactics.
