  1. I heard his constant comments about Ivory Coasts "official FIFA name" and suspect he was talking utter bollocks or had mis-understood some directive or other. Surely if he was under orders to say "Côte d'Ivoire", he should also have been saying Nihon as the other team's name. Let's reduce his argument to the absurd and inquire about Italia? Deutschland? Francais?
  2. What we have to remember in all this is that The Rangers could once more end up in Administration and start the season at -15 or -25 points, depending on which version of Club/Company floats yer boat. Therefore, in order to maintain sporting integrity (aye right), the league will be expanded to 16 teams for Season 15/16 meaning that in the coming season (14/15) 5 teams from the Championship will be playing for automatic promotion and the teams finishing in positions 6-8 will enter a play-off with the team finishing 11th in the Premiership. Surely not even Salary could screw that up?
  3. What a splendid sentence. GIRU 3 clubs in a oner. Bravo sir, bravo.
  4. I loathe and detest talk of a Plan B. What its exponents really mean is sticking a big man up front and lumping balls up to him when we're trailing in a game. Then of course it'll extend to when we're holding on grimly to a 1 goal lead...and pretty soon we're no different from all the other bottom 6 (actually make that 10) teams. Do we start training that way right through the Youth Academy? "Right lads, the 4-2-3-1 has been working pretty well all season, but for the final period in each of our games next season we're going to stick Big Shuggie up front and practice lumping it up and collecting the scraps. That way you'll fit seamlessly into the big team when the time comes." I'm sure that was the Ajax way too.
  5. Been thinking that for a while myself Twinny. Nothing to stop you bashing on though...
  6. So, does the Easdale interview mean that the BBC are no longer banned from Skull Mountain?
  7. Disappointing lack of practice lumping it up to a big target man in evidence there. Where's the Plan B?
  8. ^^^Future youth academy coach
  9. I never got round to reading any of them and I've probably missed the boat now. I suspect teenage me would have enjoyed them. I never met Derek.
  10. As well as a "like" button, this forum also needs a "don't like" button. And an unlimited number of "don't likes".
  11. While I'm pleased that we have some competition for Doolan, I think it'd be really unfair to drop him at the moment. He's one of the top scorers in the Premiership and has taken most of his chances so far this season. The big problem is that the midfield either isn't chipping in or creating more chances for him. I said to a couple of mates a few weeks ago that we could have Ibrahimovic playing up front at the moment and would still be struggling to score.
  12. This one time in Berlin, I was trying to hail a taxi and stifle a sneeze at the same time...
  13. Samaras impersonated an archer? I thought it was Angelina Jolie (badly) he liked to impersonate. Drag Artiste.
  14. McGrillen might have been a diving wee chunt, but it was fair diving What I mean is that he deliberately attempted to win penatlies, not feign injury and lie and cheat to get players sent off. Then dish out snidey wee fouls himself and constantly get away with it.
  15. I sincerely hope they are paying him at that level. It's a win-win situation as far as I can see. 1st, it'll keep the odious little spunk bubble as far away from Firhill as possible. 2nd, it'll hasten Morton's long overdue "insolvency event". I hope they're paying him more actually.
  16. http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/partick-thistle/242244-euromillions-winners-donate-750000-to-start-partick-thistle-youth-academy/ ^Gigantic unwieldy link Good stuff
  17. What's particularly frustrating is that neither Killie nor Dundee Utd can afford Boyd or Goodwillie either. Yet there they are, scoring against us and costing us points/knocking us out of cups.
  18. Pep Guardiola. I'll be disappointed when Archie moves to Spain
  19. I thought we were immense today, particularly Craigen, Osbourne, and of course Bannigan. The frustration of not scoring during our first half dominance offset by two superb goals late in the 2nd. What I found particularly noticeable was that St Mirren only tried to play football for that 30 minute spell when they were ahead, and actually managed to keep the ball, play in triangles and advance the play well at that time. For the rest of the game everything was "percentage" football, knocked long into channels for a chase and to capitalise on mistakes - of which there were 2 IMO leading up to their goal, Higginbotham narrowly failed to cut out the cross and Conrad dithered in the box. Please, don't let us adopt that "style" of football ever again
  20. Wow, they snuck that aspect of league reconstruction through.
  21. How's Lang's these days. Did they ever install toilets or is there still a trough running along the floor at the bar? TPFKA Yellow Monkey is meeting a former colleague in there and I'm aiming to join them.
  22. Holy Guacamole, Mrs Kerr and I watched episode 11 last night. That was some good TV.
  23. Talk of a "Plan B" makes me sad. It suggests a return to that old Scottish staple of lumping the ball up to an isolated centre forward and more often than not losing possession. Should our Youth teams be practising that too? Our true "Plan B" when the full-backs are pegged back, as they were in the 2nd half Vs Hearts and the first hour Vs Motherwell, should involve a midfielder dropping back to collect the ball and passing through the middle where space will have opened up. As to Baird sclaffing a chance on the TV highlights, I also noticed, Balde, Watt, Vernon, Heffernan and at least one striker per side doing exactly the same in their game highlights. Maybe we should be spunking £3M on someone more like that?
