  1. Best away top ever, there was one on e.bay last year that someone posted a link to on the forum, seriously considered getting it at the time but it had a name and number on it if I remember correctly which put me off.
  2. Just when you think it's ended, someone has to dredge it all up again

    Drinking Yarns

England V Scotland, i'm guessing it was 1981 because we went to the Netherlands in 1982 and visited a dutch guy my dad met at the game. My dad,two uncles and several of their mates made a lads holiday out of the trip, while there they visited madame tussauds, in the chamber of horrors they stuck one of my uncles(scary at the best of times) on to an empty stand, complete tartan regalia , but also , with false blood shot eyes(which my dad still has) some stick on scars and a bit of fake blood here and there, a couple of others acted as museum guides and spun a yarn about the crazy scots fan that escaped from an asylum to be at some other game previously in history, "roll up roll up, see the crazy scot" type thing and a whole lot of other bullsh*t. Once a few people had gathered and were listening to said nonsense my uncle would jump from the stand making scary screaming noises. Such was the hilarity of all this that the people that had just been tricked waited around to see the next lot getting tricked, and so on and so on until such a crowd had gathered they done a runner before getting the jail, my dad said there must have been at least 50 people gathered and that every single one of them left thinking it was a themed display run by the waxworks.
  4. My decision to go to less games this season was brought about by financial circumstance too, for the last 10 years my attendance has been fairly regular, home and away, about 80% , even had a couple 100% seasons. Sometime in october last year I got ready for the game, had no fuel in the car so stuck a tenner in, got to Firhill and paid 17 , had 2 pies and a bovril which took me to £32.50, pies aside, and even taking into account not all of the tenner fuel was used getting there and back, I just can't justify 30ish quid per game, 120 quid a month is almost the same as my car payment, and i'm trying to move house which will double my mortgage payment. Football just doesn't make financial sense to me at the moment. But to be fair, although lower gate price would see me attend more it wouldn't change the situation much for me as it's more my own finances that are tight.
  5. I really like that one, for what it's wharf.
  6. I was merely basin it on the usual standards
  7. The Falkirk Wheels? It's just like me to barge in with a bad joke
  8. April fools day, not April fools 'half a day' , the no jokes after noon thing was made up long before my time by those who couldn't be bothered watching their backs all day, particularly by parents or school teachers.
  9. I like that article , it describes alot of how I feel about watching football. I've only been to a handful of games this season(all the home cup ties and I think 4 league games) and the second 45 of that Queens match was by far the most enjoyable of them all, and it wasn't the prettiest.
  10. http://www.randalstowncsc.ie/entry.php?351-WE-ARE-NOT-old-firm-WE-ARE-CELTIC Personally I think there are too many fans on each side of the divide only too willing to participate in historical rivalries for this kind of thinking to ever mould the future. My question for this forum is, IF the old firm could be seperated in the sense that there is no longer a connection between them other than they both come from the same city, would we be happy for both rangers and Celtic to exist?
  11. I've been quite ill in the past, but now i'm just really sick All the best to the young 'supplanter'
  12. I was just joining in with the medival mentality
  13. I think Lance only came on to do a bit of jousting
  14. No matter what opposition, no matter where ,I could not sit for 90 minutes without reacting to the match, if you do react in the opposition end, even for just a bad offside or foul decision nevermind an actual goal, then it's a lottery as to how they will then react to you. I would not recommend going in an away end, but like I say, I could not sit for 90 mins without reacting.
  15. Please understand that I am not a naive English speaker. By the way
  16. Auld enough to be shooting blanks, but no auld enough to have lost your memory?
  17. From a Thistle being in control aspect then aye maybe, but I thought QOS were a bit stronger in the second half and for me it was more exciting and more entertaining. Personal opinion only
  18. Isn't there a forum member that works in Greaves? or has a mate that works there or something? Did I just dream that?
  19. In general I think these things just happen rather than be persued to happen, there's lots of little/personal alliances already, a few of the cumbernauld guys have an alliance with Burnley, and fans they've met over the years now have a soft spot for Thistle, I myself went to a Barnsley V Wolves game once, Barnsley home kit was red and their away kit was yellow, the entire home support was a sea of red n yellow and although I was in amongst them with my own red n yellow on display I met a group of Wolves fans that had a big soft spot for Thistle. I'm pretty sure i've heard of a fan connection between Mechelen and Thistle before, just because of the colours Melchester Rovers anyone?
  20. I don't think it's that relevant, and i'm not sure if it's that interesting either, but for reasons similar to you mentioning it, I was cursing under my breath hearing those scorers mentioned on the radio today, I wonder how many other ex-jags scored today?.
  21. Without having watched the video i'm pretty sure that's the game when I bumped into Mark Hately at Cameron House the day after that game whilst wearing my Thistle bomber jacket, he had a double take at the jacket then drew me a dirty look
  22. Certainly no jealousy on my part, just stating fact, the fact being that their artificial pitch gave them an advantage, you could argue that it was a fair advantage seen as they didn't break any rules so i'll retract that bit and re-phrase. Maybe it was just Thistle but it was clear to see when playing on that surface it was difficult to adapt to, it was clearly an advantage to them, so yes they got most points and topped the league, with an advantage, which is what I was meaning to begin with.
