Dunfermline Athletic ⚪️⚫️ Vs Partick Thistle 🟡🔴
a f kincaid replied to jagfox's topic in Main Jags forum
The authorities could make one simple change by reverting back to goal kicks as they used to be. Make it a bookable offence if a goalkeeper fails to place the ball for a goal kick at the side of the goal signalled by the referee. -
I think I'm right in saying that it's in Maurice Johnston's book that when he was leaving for Watford, Peter Cormack learned Maurice had no agent. He drove him down south and sort of rehearsed him what to say. Maurice was grateful as he got a better deal that he might have without Peter's input.

Yes, it seems totally unnecessary and just an added expense. I'm sure the light at the end of the match would still have been acceptable. When every pound is a prisoner, as the days get shorter, why not move KO times to 2.00 and see the games out without the lights? Not sure if I've got this right but was there not a rule at one time that you are not allowed to put the lights on during a match? You have to start with them on.

Who Are The Jags Players In This Photo?

A crafty one! 4/1/1947. PT v Aberdeen. Thistle loaned Aberdeen a set of strips for this match (dark blue with white Thistle) - reason unknown. Played on a muckheap, these two Aberdeen players trooped off at h-t for their audition for the Black and White Minstrels. -
On a slightly different issue...has anyone who bought a physical ST through the club (ie, nothing to do with Fanbase) received their ticket yet? Who is sending them out? The club, or a third party?

Anyone know if there will be programmes this season and if the subscription for postal delivery will be available?

...and the trams were on strike.

In his 74th and final appearance on 9/5/1998 IIRC he tapped a short, quick free-kick straight to an Ayr player who ran on and put his side 1-up. The eventual 3-1 defeat saved Ayr and relegated Thistle.

I swithered between St Mirren and Kilmarnock. Duffy only played at Kilmarnock 7 times. Four of these were partnering McParland @11 and it's not him. One was Tommy Ewing and its not him. That leaves 5/10/1963 (0-3) George Smith and 26/8/1964 (0-4) Jim Fleming. I'd say it's George Smith. -

Neil Duffy No 10. Love St? -
Bob Crampsey's book on the first hundred years of the SFL records that only one bomb fell on Stirling during the war and it was from a stray aircraft. It completely destroyed KP's ground. Unlucky! After the war local business men decided the task to restart the club was too great and decided on a new team and new ground (Annfield).

Thanks for the clarification. So, not making any contact with Fanbase does not conflict with the club sending me my physical tickets in due course. Correct?

Renewed 2 STs by phoning the office. No problems once I got through except the cost was £10 more than the prices quoted in the OS. ST's are to be sent out in a few weeks' time. The actual cards we have held for a few seasons are now obsolete. I've now received an e-mail from Fanbase saying my tickets have been added to my Fanbase wallet - whatever that means. The e-mail invites me to look at them but to do so you have to register. I deliberately chose not to use Fanbase. Since I've never been in touch with them (unless my details have been "shared") I assume my tickets will be sent out by the club in due course? Anyone else wondering this?

Think he scored a cracker for Kilmarnock v Celtic. As best I remember he hardly set the heather on fire at Firhill. 4 appearances, all as a sub. -

Games You Remember for non-football reasons.

18/4/1959. It the event, Falkirk only drew their last game and finished 2nd bottom, 1 point behind Dunfermline so goal average didn't come in to it after all. Best not to speculate what was going on that day! -
Just reading the stuff on the OS. Does anyone know if you have to register with this new mob even if you just want to renew by phoning the club?

He's 4-footed. Saw him play several times. Knows the drill but not mobile. Needs time to set himself and prone to folding too easily when the pressure is on. -
I knew Dougie from work. He was a P/T player and worked in the Civil Service. He told me he didn't want to leave Thistle but St Mirren's offer was too good to refuse. Just another in a long line of players who Thistle wouldn't or couldn't retain. C'est la vie!

Partick Thistle 🔴🟡 Vs The Vile Diamond ♦️♦️
a f kincaid replied to jagfox's topic in Main Jags forum
Don't know the answer to that off hand but the no bookings outcome is seismic in the context of these two clubs! More Thistle players have been sent off against Airdrie than any other club Thistle have played (16). [Next nearest Falkirk and Morton with 15.] More Airdrie players have been sent off against Thistle than any other team Thistle have played (17). [Next nearest St Mirren 11.] Many of them will have been second yellows. Reports of these two clubs playing each other over the decades suggest it's hard to believe there were any matches where at least one player wasn't cautioned. They seem to bring out the worst in each other but in contrast, yesterday was played in a hard but fair spirit. -

Since he's wearing the same outfit as Jackie Husband, my guess is he's "backroom", not a player. -
Anyone got a link to the Championship shares of the prize money this season? "Needle and haystack" springs to mind.
