  1. WTAF? Anyway, welcome Scott Martin. Bit surprised at Robbo leaving, but thanks for a handful of stellar moments while here.
  2. Remind me - where did McCall ever get us in the play-offs??
  3. Therein lay the issue GRE. It's one thing having an opinion on Kris Doolan's abilities (or lack of) as a manager. Everybody's entitled to that, However, there can be no justification for setting fire to his character. That's not on.
  4. Let's See Action - our Success Story will only work if we Join Together.
  5. He never ever had possession of the plot in the first place to be able to lose it.
  6. Megwa had a shocker defensively today, right from the first move of the game, finishing with his culpability for the second goal;. He was decent going forward today, but is far, far too inconsistent for what we need in a right back. Morton targeted him from the off. Credit to Doolan for making the subs he did. Chalmers did more on the left in the first two minutes he went over to that side than Fitzpatrick ever looked like doing. That should certainly be his position for the rest of the season, or at least until Fitzpatrick decides he wants to make a positive impact when on the field of play. What worries me is the lack of fluency through the midfield this season. Today there was no evidence we were taking control; of that area of the field in the manner that we had done in the previous year or so. Can't all have been down to Lawless (injured) and McMillan (elsewhere). Time to try Graham and Ablade up front for a spell. Scott Robinson's been visibly coasting for a couple of months now.
  7. One thing's for sure. You are not a great guy posting that.
  8. Couldn't agree more. What many seem to overlook is that under Doolan we have achieved a level of stability and consistency of results (as judged by points per game) that a new incumbent would have difficulty in replicating, let alone surpass. Doolan (the manager) has been a considerably better fit and has been a far more consistent steward than his predecessor was or ever looked like becoming. Could Doolan's management achieve more? Yes, of course it could. But would Thistle be guaranteed a better position by getting rid of him at this point? Be careful what you wish for folks...........
  9. Can anyone clarify what is a 'league winning budget'? Where is this verifiable?
  10. So the rumour about Jota to Thistle from Rennes is dross?
  11. Jordanhill Jag will be along in a minute to make it clear to all....................
  12. That post comes across as so grudging - it's as though Doolan and Stanway ruined your night Y&R.
  13. Jim - Have you ever thought of applying to be Team Manager, Sports Scientist and Commercial Manager? It would certainly achieve at least half of the savings you so clearly advocate.
  14. We generally play 4-2-3-1. The major problem is that Ross Docherty's discipline and reading of the game in midfield has never been adequately replaced.. Holt was a loss as an individual, but I'd suggest that Ashcroft/O'Reilly is a more solid partnership than Muirhead/Holt ever were. Tiffoney only really played number 10 during the play-off games. While he was certainly a revelation in there, Robinson can hardly be considered a failure. We benefitted from Fitzpatrick giving us another dimension on the left. However, he's just no been as effective this season for whatever reason. Chalmers has come on to a game, but Megwa has yet to convince he's even a better right back than Turner so far. There's more right with the team than there is wrong - in my opinion. That said, the onfield misfiring needs major work as the last four games have graphically demonstrated.
  15. Thank you for this. I suppose it's possible that the figures I looked at may not have been updated to include yesterday's game. One thing is for sure - that level of goal input from a main striker is going to be very, very difficult to replace once BBG eventually has to move on. Like Ross Docherty, I think his on-field contribution and added value to the Thistle team will only be fully appreciated once he ain't no longer around.
  16. By my rough research - and I willingly stand to be corrected - BBG has 89 goals across 177 games in all competitive fixtures for Thistle.
  17. Random observations: Excellent result given that QP had so many good openings but didn't create any sitters with their possession, except the one in the first half that Myles saved brilliantly low down to his left. Megwa is never ever a left back. Please put that experiment in the bin marked 'Never to be repeated'. Fitzpatrick was too keen to fall on his arse anytime he felt a hand on his back. The ref didn't buy the first couple, so why did he continue doing it? Chalmers did bloody well for the winning goal..That was a tremendous example of why you never give up until the ball is out of play. Took a while for me to warm to him, but he does bring a welcome unorthodoxy to our forward play. Ashcroft and O'Reilly have a superb understanding at the back. Easily the best centre back pairing we've had since the Freddie Frans seasons. Bannigan has been a revelation since he came back into the team (wild tackle today apart). He looks like he's enjoying his football at the level he was before he got his serious injury. Long may it continue. Happy Christmas to all Jags fans wherever you may be across the globe. See you next Saturday!!
  18. To those on this thread who are suggesting that Doolan should be replaced. Who exactly do you think is available, within the famous budget and a proven manager at our level? Not one of you has offered any alternative, let alone a credible or rational one. So who do you suggest that will improve our current fortunes? Ian Murray? For the record - and I fully understand that like is not being compared with like - Kris Doolan allegedly has the best league points per game record in Thistle's history.
  19. What exactly does this have to do with the match thread Livvy v Jags JJ?
  20. Sorry Big Wull, cannot agree. No way on earth did we merit even being level at half time. Myles made a mistake which got punished, that happens to every keeper -even at the top level - a couple of times a season. Neither of BBG's chances were stick-ons whatever you may feel. The television pictures show that on both occasions he was reacting instinctively rather than having time to compose himself. Them were the breaks on the night. On another night.................
  21. Ultimately, those weren't a bad set of results for us this weekend (apart from our own one obviously). Anything that can pull Falkirk back into the mix is to be welcomed. There's still half the fixtures to go remember.........
  22. You're clutching at straws. Livingston's major advantage tonight is that we were absolutely honking. That had absolutely nothing to do with the surface.
  23. That is absolutely criminal from Fitzpatrick. The way he lazily lost/gave away possession which led to Muirhead's goal is simply unacceptable.
  24. Only because Lee Ashcroft chose that night to have the worst game of his career.
