  1. Cannot agree more. He was wasted at LWB in the 17-18 season due to Archie's poor recruitment (Milan Nitriansky anyone??). Considering that Archie went for most of that season with Ryan Edwards and Adam Barton as a central midfield, it's difficult not to conclude that Stevie Lawless' absence from that engine room was possibly a major factor in our rancid performance that season.
  2. Likewise, I was one of those who openly disagreed with his re-signing at the time. Very happy to consume a large dollop of humble pie on this one - Stevie Lawless has been an outstanding success since his return to the club. He's been a pleasure to watch and particularly so since regaining full fitness following Kris Doolan's appointment.
  3. If this weather keeps up - we might have a chance!! Still no way Messi gets a start before wee Stevie though, so at best he'd be a luxury signing.
  4. We need to be realistic. None of our players are on life-securing salaries (Holt @ 60k appears to have been the top earner), so if they get offers that allow them to improve their families' status then they all have a responsibility to do so. And let's face it, the way we played for 5.75 of those play-off games will have brought them all to the attention of all non-Glasgow clubs in the division above. In the ideal world, would love to keep Turner and Docherty. I fear both, but particularly the latter will be sorely missed next season. However, in Kris Doolan I trust, let's see what he is able to influence over the coming weeks.
  5. My season ticket is loaded on the PTFC app. I notice that the home page hasn't been updated in a long time - last August by the looks of it. The News page's second story is Tam O'Ware leaving the club!!!! 🤔😲
  6. McCall - 33 points from 23 games = 1.435 points per game (by extrapolation 52 points over 36 games) Doolan - 24 points from 13 games = 1.846 points per game (by extrapolation 66 points over 36 games) The extrapolations are clearly hypothetical. However to suggest - as you do JJ - that there was not a massive change in average results performance under Kris Doolan is simply not borne out by the facts.
  7. He's decent, but he'd never get a game before Stevie Lawless.
  8. Bannigan's injury v Queens Park forced Dools into a personnel change which has been shown to work extra-effectively so far (Turner and Docherty deep with Graham, Tiffoney, Lawless and Fitzpatrick further up). We've looked more fluent as a result. It's a conundrum for sure, but Fitzpatrick seems to me to have had a re-awakening recently after a frankly disappointing season. I'd be inclined to start with him tomorrow. Banzo has his qualities, but the performance of the formation since he got injured has been outstanding.
  9. Thanks EJ, some points worthy of discussion there. In my humble opinion, the red for Akinyemi was harsh, although technically correct. A stern warning to both him and Muirhead - who was hardly an innocent party in the incident - would have sufficed. Akinyemi was clearly unfit anyway, so it didn't matter too much to Ayr's efforts. Good question re Simon Murray, but he's not exactly had the confidence of his manager lately has he? No idea how it's possible for RC to bias an advantage with VAR - are you serious?
  10. No such thing exists in Scotland, sadly.
  11. Taking heart from the fact that if Kilmarnock can gub them, then Ross County must have more weaknesses than strengths. That said, they are hammer throwers, so they will target our front four from the off. I expect two brutal games. But, in Doolan I trust.
  12. And benefitted from its presence in achieving that scarcest of feats - a visiting team awarded a penalty at Ibrox!!
  13. Muirhead did receive a yellow for his part in the Akinyemi incident.
  14. This is it. Would certainly fancy us against Killie, but Ross County may well ragdoll us due to their physical presence. Maybe Dundee United could miraculously achieve 11th for additional motivation?
  15. Many many congratulations and praise to Kris, his management team and - above all - to the players for giving the club the opportunity to be playing for a place in the top league this coming week. Given Kris was appointed in mid February after successive 0-1 home defeats in the league to teams that were both ultimately relegated, what has been achieved in 17 games since then is remarkable and fully worthy of acknowledgement. On the red card tonight, it was justified due to the violent reaction, but let's not begin to pretend that Aaron Muirhead was Mr Innocent in the incident. We all know what goes on in these scenarios.
  16. This season 7 wins (3 v QP, 2 v Ayr, 1 v ICT, 1 v Kilmarnock on penalties) 3 losses (2 v ICT, I v 1872 tribute act)
  17. TTA - you may have already done this, but could you produce a record of Jags games that have been live on TV? I reckon that is 5 wins on the bounce now.
  18. You mean a minimum of four straight reds and several hamstring injuries?
  19. Edited - just realised the 'they' in your post referred to Kilmarnock and not Ross County.
  20. I'd rather we faced Kilmarnock - Ross are a shower of hammer throwers, who may not be the best opponent given our recent results outside the Central Belt.
  21. The Three Judges at Partick Cross has this ale on today: https://www.bellfieldbrewery.com/products/gluten-free-beer-lawless-village-ipa It would have been very rude not to have had three pints of it to mark Stevie's stellar performance last night. So I did.
  22. With every respect - Bannigan's having his best run of influencing a game since before his serious injury in the premiership. Banzo and Doc protecting the defence has been one of the key features of this run. If he's 100%, he's in the team for me. However, it's a calf injury - that needs rest and then some. Hopefully the ten days will be sufficient recovery.
  23. Sneddon wasn't dropped. He was injured when Doolan took over, Mitchell was selected and since has done nothing to warrant being dropped. Unfortunately, that's an occupational (Conor?) hazard for goalkeepers. If Sneddon goes, then good luck to him - that stat on the BBC site of a 100% goalscoring record from 1 shot on goal all season is the mutt's nutts.
