  1. Yup, the Swans never got their passing game together, and leaving Bony on the bench was a mistake IMO. Never mine, we'll beat the at the Liberty Stadium.
  2. I was lucky enough to see Tommy Smith, Dave McKay and Norman Hunter play. Smith was winding down his career at Swansea City when they played Spurs in a League Cup match. His tackle on Ossie Ardiles was that late, it would have been worth a booking in the next game. Needless to say Ardiles didn't kick a ball all night after that. I was living in Derby when Norman "Bites yer Legs" Hunter and Francis Lee got involved in a bit of afters in a match between derby and Leeds, and continued after being sent for first use of the soap by the ref. Neither took a step back. No Terry Hurlock or Roy Keane? Peter Storey and Peter Simpson at Arsenal were tasty as well. All teams need an enforcer if they are going to be successful.
  3. I remember that game. I think we all thought that McConalogue's goal was a consolation, then when Gibson's went in we hoped that something might happen, and then it did. I can't remember the Dorrans goal - it wasn't the overhead kick was it?
  4. I look forward to going to Firhill for home games. Couldn't always say that in the past.
  5. Steve Docherty possibly new full-time manager at Pollok, Willie Howie club captain, Liam McVeigh, John Kane there as well Tommy Bryce at Glenafton Murray McDowall player/manager at Luncarty Steven McConologue playing in Australia at one level down from the top league
  6. I've been to see Pollok Juniors a couple of times, and the ex-Thistle contingent is interesting. Until yesterday Stephen Docherty was the caretaker manager at Pollok, but he's now resigned because their management committee chose to advertise the post. Also at Pollok are Liam Mcveigh, John kane and Willie Howie Glenafton were managed by Tommy Bryce Luncarty had Murray McDowell as player-manager
  7. I came to Glasgow in 1977 and one of my uni class was a Thistle fan and offered to take me to a game. i already knew about them of course, but one game was enough for me to become a fan. I brought my son to his first game - a 2-2 draw with Hibs, with Mickey Weir coming on as a sub and getting sent off soon after. That was also enough for him to become a Jag for life.
  8. It was frustrating yesterday - many people couldn't get the ticket/card to work and we had to then join the longest queue where one guy was taking numbers and letting us in individually.
  9. Aberdeen did their homework and pressed us high up, which meant we resorted to high balls to Baird and Lawless who were against big defenders. No cutting edge or good distribution from wide men. We couldn't play through the middle effectively until Forbes came on. Big Oz played ok. A bad day at work. Don't panic yet but we need to work out a plan B against teams who now how to play us.
  10. Is this the same Jim Traynor who when on the radion repeatedly mentioned that Airdrie was "his team"?
  11. My daughter works with a Jags fan in the Home Office in London
  12. There's a few in Shawlands/Pollokshaws. My next-door but one neighbour is a 'lapsed' fan. A casualty of previous regimes.
  13. Are these idiots on performance-related pay, or are they freelancers? Bring back Archie Macpherson - at least he could speak properly, and did his research.
  14. It means that I can go to the wedding on the saturday, and still make the game on the Sunday. Thanks Sky (for the first and last time)
  15. And now thatVerona are back in the top division, it's worth re-reading it.
  16. I thought we went quiet after they scored, and started grumping at the team - not good.
  17. Nope - he came from M'well to us, and then went back there.
  18. I hope he keeps it under wraps, there will be children at the game.
  19. I'd rather have Aero than Jon Walters who has missed about 5 in a row. Still, neither are bottlers.
  20. It feels like a loss though. Archie should have put Osbourne on after we scored to stop them playing through us. Ah well.
