  1. The figures listed don't include any bonus payments (appearance, win, free car, house or whatever). Not sure if its still the case but haven't Thistle players historically been on a low basic but with good bonuses?
  2. I hope all the season ticket holders who are being reasonably accepting about this will email the club with the request for the chance to buy an non-OF season ticket?
  3. The Tory vote does hold up pretty well at roughly 16% immaterial of anything else. Looks like the tactical voters didn't bother and the slight rise in numbers for Tories is down to the increased number of people voting, but most of the new/returning voters were clearly for SNP. Some kind of PR system would be good, except for the UKIP MP's we'd end up with, but hey, that's democracy for you. All the current system does is guarantee one of two winners.
  4. Hope he stays. He can be a little too easily outmuscled but he is a real creative spark for us when he is playing well. I'd rather see him stay than Higgy to be honest. But preferably both.
  5. Good luck to your boy billko hope he gets another team, even if it is Clyde it won't be all bad! Also thanks for your updates on the youth teams, they've been an enjoyable part of the forum.
  6. I remember this too, one guy was giving him dogs abuse and although not overtly racist, it just felt nasty. And I remember thinking the exact same thing as you, well done Latapy for sticking it right up him. Hear, hear. Even when it is mentioned it's shrugged off as a minority.
  7. This, in a nutshell. Money is all that matters, This for the good of the game chat is meaningless nonsense, it brings in money, that's all, end of story. I won't be watching it, couldn't even care less about the result, but people like you watching it are part of the reason it's "for the good of the game"
  8. Definitely his left but then so were his two other goals & of course the header. So not the "perfect" hat-trick.
  9. We can't afford to offer players new deals until we have an idea how much money we'll have at the end of the season. Look at Archie's quotes in the Evening Times today. "We are looking where we are going to be and what money we have got. It costs money to give people new, improved deals, and things are tight. Hopefully by the end of January I will be able to start sitting down and talking to players. It is something I want to get done. We know the situation we are in, so we can't just go and start handing out big deals. It is risk we take and we will probably lose one or two, there is no doubt about that. But, the grass isn't always greener. All we can do is offer them the best deal we can and try and sell the club to them and convince them that this is a good place to be."
  10. BBC Sport - Saturday's Scottish Premiership game between Ross County and Partick Thistle has been postponed due to a power failure at the Global Energy Stadium.
  11. Previously on trial and close to signing with Blackpool and Leeds? That'll explain why he's only signed a short term deal with us. Bigger and better things for him in January no doubt. Could do a good job for us in the meantime though, so good luck to him even if it is only for a couple of months.
  12. Point is we're signing a player who has went drastically downhill from Liverpool to only playing a handful of games in the past two years compared with signing Taylor whose career was on the up, going from playing a handful of games to playing regularly and scoring a few goals in the year and a half before we signed him. Not having a go at Eccleston I just don't think people should expect too much from him. Fact is, we've just signed a striker who has scored six goals in his entire career to date, lets not get our hopes up eh? Or at very least, expect him to take a while to get fully fit and able to show what he might be capable of.
  13. The key difference between Nathan Eccleston and Lyle Taylor is that the latter had at least proven himself in the First Division with Falkirk, scoring nearly 30 goals in one season at that level. He also played a reasonable number of games (mostly as sub to be fair) and scored a couple of goals in League One in England immediately before coming to Firhill last season. Compare that to Eccleston who has went from a youth team player at Liverpool to making just a handful of appearances and one goal in the last two seasons. Besides, you only need to look at our experience with Henoc Mukendi to know that being part of the youth set up at Liverpool is not necessarily an indication that a player is any good. Hopefully he's ready to knuckle down and grab his chance at a professional career at whatever level he can and maybe win himself a move back down to the English Leagues. But I certainly don't think Eccelston is a sign of a step up in quality of player we are able to attract. He might turn out to be a good signing, but he's a complete gamble. Good luck to him though Oh and agree with the positive thing about him signing being that we will no longer see Stevenson playing up front. Doolan and Eccleston for the strikers role please.
  14. FFS, sign a guy from English non-league and punt him straight in the the top flight here in Scotland, yeah the standard of our league may not be great but that is at best a huge jump for the player to have to make, or at worst, a recipe for disaster. Promising player he may be, but the smart thing to do is loan him out to a team in a lower league up here where he will get the chance of regular first team football and Archie will be able to monitor his progress closely. Archie maybe has seen enough in him to think he might be good enough, but doesn't think he's ready for our first team. So if he does well while out on loan, brilliant he can come back to Firhill with another six months left to try and win a first team place in the team and earn himself a better, longer term contract. What is ******* stupid about that?
  15. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was caught out, I thought we'd signed a youngster on loan from Everton. Seems he played as a trialist for Birmingham earlier in the summer, but less chance of him getting a contract with an English club as Tamworth would have been due a fee. Birmingham hand trial to Tamworth defender
  16. I thought Archie had said he'd be interested in re-signing him if he was fit? Is it just that the addition of Osman means he isn't required?
  17. Looked a soft penalty but you can see Seabourne has his arm around McPake at one point. McPake does dive to the ground to make the most of it, that along with his reaction towards Seabourne after the penalty is awarded means he should have been booked IMHO. You see tons of them not given, but like this one, you do see the odd one resulting in a penalty. As for Fox. He shoves his hand out quite forcibly, it's not like it was just making a gesture, he was probably meaning to give the Dundee player a wee shove and didn't notice he was so small so smacked him in the face. Probably merited a yellow more than a red card. Both pretty stupid.
  18. It doesn't need to be a snipe to say it's down to the money. The fact is, it's only the money from the Weir's investment that allows Thistle to be able to afford to pay guys like Gerry Britton and Scott Allison a full-time wage to run a complete youth set-up and employ all the coaches and various other staff. We should be very thankful to the Weir's, and of course the people putting in all the time and effort to make it work.
  19. Yep I think jaggy is right. The black away kit with the red/yellow diagonal stripes in 2001 was designed by a fan. Can't for the life of me remember the guys name right now. And there might be something in the home kit design too. Certainly that was a very good year for Thistle kits. And wasn't it one of the directors that came up with the jester kit?
  20. Signed. If we could get 1000 signatures that would be a good figure to show the club there is a groundswell of opinion against what would quite clearly have a negative impact on the atmosphere at Firhill.
  21. Hope Brian & Tom are leaving on good terms, and this isn't similar to people who've previously been eased out in the past? Immaterial of that, thanks to you both for the hard work you've put in behind the scenes for many years. Don't know who else is leaving, and why, but same goes to them too.
  22. I like that Galatasary training top. Don't think those links do it justice. Make it more yellow than Galatasary's orange and its fine, http://www.zimbio.co...ion/cLH0EGXCwtq
  23. Brilliant Camallain! Terrific goal, nice build up, lovely step-over and fine finish. Ya dancer!
