  1. I must confess to not being a 50-50 buyer, but when I used to go the JHS (I now go to the JLS), I always enjoyed his banter, including wonderfully ingenious and attractive offers such as "Buy two. Get none free."
  2. Was away yesterday and had forgotten that it was the designated last day of the Forum. It still seems to be here! Just in case it will soon vanish, I would again want to thank Admin for providing this platform for us and to wish him and his partner good health and happiness. Best regards also to all other posters. However, I am hoping and expecting that this is not the end, and that like Dr Who we will regenerate in some new form ready for more adventures. I think that I am in the same boat as @ChiThistle in indicating a willingness to be part (but not all!) of the solution, but having no relevant experience and no real idea of what would be involved. Having not heard back yet, I am hoping that, along with Dougie Imrie, I failed the selection process and that a more qualified management team is soon to be announced once all "i"s have been dotted and "t"s crossed. If not, still happy to play a minor role and will look forward to hearing further in due course.
  3. WJ. I am a little surprised that TJF have entrusted their election process to Mario Balotelli.
  4. Would he not be your ultimate journeyman?
  5. Good interview with Mark Wilson. I like the cut of his jib and wish him and Partick Thistle every success. The season ticket will be purchased with enthusiasm!
  6. I have been (and still am) a sceptic about the Sporting Director appointment, not conceptually, but more on grounds of affordability with our limited playing budget. However, I do of course hope that it is a great success. Given that it is in place, if Mark Wilson is to be the new Head Coach (and I make no assumptions and have no inside knowledge), then I have a feeling that this is a combination that could work. Both he and Ian Baraclough come across as personable, intelligent, willing to learn, slightly understated and not taking themselves too seriously and not having to be the main story. Maybe we are at the beginning of a "quiet revolution" in terms of how the squad is recruited and developed. This will inevitably take time and I will try not to be too quick to rush to judgment.
  7. We could call him "Flake" as he is always on 99.
  8. and Chris Erskine is a good guy as well!
  9. Sadly, I think that it will be more a case of: tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day, to the last syllable of recorded time
  10. That would be a pity, as I have always enjoyed our south of Scotland forays. I think that I would be right in saying that around 10 games into the Second Division (ie third tier) Championship winning season 2000-2001, over a period of 4 weeks, we had consecutive away games against Stranraer, Queen of the South and Berwick Rangers. Hard-fought victories in all three fixtures transformed our season, taking us out of the pack and putting us in a clear lead at the top of the table. Great memories!
  11. but then you would never get a trip to Elgin.
  12. I think that I have mentioned before that when we played Stranraer away a few seasons ago I was talking to a friendly home supporter who turned out to be the Stranraer Vice-Chairman. He was waxing lyrical about Stuart Bannigan and saying how much he would like to sign him as an experienced head to hold things together in midfield and help to mentor some of the keen but raw youngsters in the squad. Perhaps we will be coming up against Banzo in the League Cup?
  13. You are not really in a stadium. The game is played on a fairly random pitch with no elevation anywhere to give you a view.
  14. I have no inside knowledge, but would not necessarily agree. If it is a Graham/Wilson combination (which might take many different forms), then there could be a fair amount of financial and practical detail for them to consider, discuss, take advice on and negotiate, both separately and together.
  15. Pleased to note that a late flourish meant that I was not bottom of the standings for the men's competition at least. Many thanks to you BB for organising this so patiently and efficiently over the years, and being willing to refresh the rules to allow underdogs just that little chance. When Partick Thistle defeat Brora Rangers in the finals of both of next year's cups (ie both men's and women's), I will reflect on what might have been.
  16. I do not think that DD was himself suggesting that Rhys McCabe would not be an appropriate candidate for the short list. You and I and others who have posted have pointed out his positive qualities. Equally, several other posters have pointed to his team's poor results this season (notwithstanding some mitigating factors) and have indicated that they would not be keen on him being appointed. DD's reasonable point (which no doubt he can express for himself much more eloquently then me) is that there would not have been universal (nor even high majority) forum approval of McCabe being short listed for the Head Coach position.
  17. We've got Luke McBeth! Excellent entry Only thing missing now is a mention of Lady Gaga.
  18. I am not normally an in the know type social media person, but I see from James Cairney's X feed that apparently Morton have granted Thistle permission to speak to Dougie Imrie. That of course does not make his appointment certain.
  19. I think that Robbie Crawford notched one at Hampden v Queen's Park, but I am totally in agreement with your overall point. The comparison with Falkirk is particularly telling. Timed arrival in the box at the end of a speedy move a la Frank Lampard or driving into the box a la Declan Rice are so much more potentially productive than our slow down and spread it wide approach.
  20. That seems a fitting conclusion to Brian Graham's tenure as manager. Very good and clinical result considering that it was away from home and that Spartans needed a draw to survive. One can imagine that it must have become fairly tense towards the end, and that it would have been easy to crumble given that there was less at stake for Thistle than for Spartans. Montrose fans will have been humming the Great Escape theme tune!
  21. Congratulations to Hibs on winning the title, and to former Thistle player Linzi Taylor for scoring the decisive goal against Rangers. Glasgow City finished second and so locked the OF out of the European qualification places. So refreshing!
