  1. BB. I would have to dissent from the above and say that I am hoping for a 13 goal thriller with all the Ss--Switzerland 6 Serbia 7. I would happily give up my measly single bonus point for such a feast of entertainment (especially as 6 other dudes would be getting the bonus point as well which sort of spoils the uniqueness).
  2. The mystery of what happened to Jason Banton is resolved. He is apparently a real human being who does exist.
  3. Fair enough. Croatia v Nigeria last weekend was surprisingly poor as well.
  4. My recollection (which others can correct) is that the ball was played through or back to Neil Alexander in the Hearts goal. Banzo was our furthest forward player and moved in to close Alexander down. Although Alexander was clear favourite to get first to the ball, he did not have much time to spare and Banzo was coming on at a fair pace. Alexander touched the ball to the side to give himself a little more space. Banzo in mid run instinctively tried to twist his body to intercept and the unfortunate combination of running fast in one direction and suddenly twisting in the other direction caused him to catch a foot in the ground with devastating consequences for what may at first have seemed to be quite innocuous. Certainly no contact involved by, or blame attaching to, any other player (and of course just sheer bad luck for Banzo).
  5. You must have missed Spain v Portugal
  6. Sounds like the sort of guy who might play for Juventus
  7. Can you teach us the words of the Sean McGinty song? What is the best tune for it?
  8. I presume that Alex Schalk is another non-starter and would be hoping to get a premiership place or at least a higher wage than Ross County. If available, he would be worth considering. Bit of a diver (which I do not like), but has pace and a reasonable scoring record. Certainly took us apart in Dingwall and could be a good complement to Doolan, Erskine and Spittal. A faster version of Stevie Lawless but perhaps not so effective at shooting from distance?
  9. I think that my ridiculous choices confused BB, so I will take the blame and volunteer to be the first scapegoat of the new season. There will be plenty more to come.
  10. Looks like Conrad is doing a Rory McAllister.
  11. BB made much more sensible predictions than I had done. #BowenBoysIn
  12. Championship/Promotion celebration day at Dumfries to round the season off!
  13. Russia's 5-0 victory does not worry me. I am still going for Egypt and Uruguay to qualify from Group A
  14. BB I think that you should put us into qualifying sections . However, I would prefer it if you mix it up as being thrown in with Eljaggo, Elevenone and the Prince of Kadriorg looks like the group of death.
  15. What did Bell O'Ware? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NztfOSyCCFM The answer-A Brand New Jersey!
  16. Hopefully not a clanger.
  17. I agree that is a fair summary. His first season (which I think was more like two-thirds of a season) was very encouraging, he was our "go to " centre back as compared to Balatoni and the frequently injured Seaborne, and he capped it off with a fine and very important goal at Ross County. There was talk of him moving up a level when the time came for him to leave us. His second season just never got going. He was sent off in the first game at Hamilton, had niggling injuries, scored a horrendous own goal at Motherwell, and when he did begin to knock on the selection door found it difficult to displace a rapidly improving Lindsay and a more regularly available and reasonably effective Seaborne. He was part of the infamous 3 centre backs without a ball-playing sweeper experiment in the dreadful Scottish Cup tie at Tannadice, and by the time he secured a spot in the starting line up the season was just about over. So I tend to agree that he is a decent player and a good character, and there would be some encouragment in our being his team of choice over two of our rivals, but definitely not worth over-stretching the budget for.
  18. Is "fenestration" short hand for festering and returning administration, like what keeps happening to Dundee and Livingston? Strangely fenestration does not seem to have caused either much harm.
  19. What is Jonny Tuffey's contract situation ? He was great at recycling the ball and also drove the team up the park
  20. Away in captivity. Required from us a song.
  21. Coatbridge does provide the Time Capsule and the Summerlea Heritage Centre, while Ochilview rather surprisingly provides a decent view of the Ochils.
  22. Our new signing certainly gets about a bit. He is name checked by William Shakespeare in the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet.
  23. Is he the first Partick Thistle player to be mentioned in the lyrics of a Peter Sarstedt song?
