  1. Can't believe Barton lasted the game. Another match where he continually gave the ball away in dangerous positions, getting the ball stuck under his feet. As a team we need to push out away from the box and close players down to prevent the type of ball in that led to the last goal.
  2. Serves me right for not going Swithered over it all day...
  3. So... it was a foul, he was impeded when Bitton kicks his foot while going for the ball and pushes him, but even if that is all accidental, it is still a foul and a penalty, but not a card.
  4. Best Thistle player on show tonight, hardly put a foot wrong. Needed a few more like him. Great controlled play out of defence on a number of occasions.
  5. Classic Transference Taking the stress from one area of their lives and finding an outlet elsewhere, deserved or otherwise.
  6. Having taught psychology to degree level, I would be seriously asking what has happened to someone who takes satisfaction in some of the more extreme levels of abuse aimed at some players. Sports psychology can explain to an extent the taunting of opposition players or officials to try and gain an advantage for the team you support, but it is more complex where people are directing sustained abuse at their own team or members of the team, denigrating their ability. This is particularly the case when delivered in person, but also on an open forum where anyone can see it. I would say Thistle fans are generally tolerant (O'Donnell, Erskine - confidence players who haven't replicated their Thistle form elsewhere; Pogba; Azeez, etc.), but there are some supporters who do occasionally pick on a scapegoat. There is fair and (reasonably) objective criticism of performances and then there is abuse for the sake of it.
  7. Whether he is qualified or not is not the issue. There is plenty of research by those who are qualified to back up his assertion. See https://www.ditchthelabel.org/research-papers/the-annual-bullying-survey-2016/ or https://www.ditchthelabel.org/research-papers/cyberbullying-and-hate-speech/
  8. I think it would be in our best interests for the rest of the season to get some minutes for 2 or 3 of the younger boys who will probably be called upon at some stage rather than make it one more round in the league cup. For the record though, I think the two are not mutually exclusive.
  9. Azeez offski to Cambridge, hopefully there is someone lined up to replace him.
  10. And Progres haven't started their season either...
  11. Dodo? That move is deid...
  12. RB Leipzig?! Change the name of the club, the strip and make us the most hated club in the country?
  13. A team full of boys from the development side would have done better, as they would have vs Celtic. It is down to the manager to work out if players have downed tools. Plus we could actually have learned something about the younger boys.
  14. I don't think anyone is saying we should have dominated the game, but the effort didn't seem to be there from the start. There was no excuse for the stupid time and space we were giving players of that calibre. At the very least we should have been in their faces and not letting them shoot and cross under no pressure. I had hoped to see a bit more of McCarthy, Nisbet and McLaughlin by this stage too.
  15. Penrice looked decent last season when he got a few games at the tail end, as I recall. His corners were a joy to behold after the dross we had to suffer for the rest of the season. By all accounts he has improved well out on loan this year, being a stand out for East Fife.
  16. I'd rather see Penrice given a chance than ATS come back.
  17. Fairly obvious that there were a few tired legs after about 60 mins and we stopped keeping hold of the ball. Mystified why it took Archie until 85 mins to make a substitution.
  18. I feel sorry for the players as well as the fans who travelled, an opportunity missed. Mainly feel sorry for the fans though, as they certainly did their bit. If Azeez doesn't start to come good by the end of the season, I feel he never will. His contribution was comical at best.
  19. After the first 15 we have dropped out of the game. Cannae keep a hold of the ball, not helped by players abdicating responsibility by passing back to Cerny for him to hoof it forward and the ball to come straight back at us. The pitch may be poor, but we are losing too many balls in the air to continue playing the way we have.
  20. Still 2nd even if Hearts are included in TJRs table!
  21. Look at the state of the Scotland defence, he should definitely be in the squad and hopefully get a bit of a run out against Canada. Could get a game up front with his scoring record
  22. When they've lost 5 on the spin and are hovering around relegation, the senior players should be taking some responsibility on the park. I hope Leicester don't go down, but if they do the fans will still have the memories of being champions and making the Champions League knock out stages.
  23. Will probably come in to the team to let Erskine get his injury sorted once we make the top 6!
  24. Okay. I've fixed the links in the original post so you can read it the right way up now...
  25. The issue of Strict Liability was one of the main topics at the Supporters Trust meeting before the Hamilton game. This is in essence a question of whether the clubs should be held responsible for the behaviour of their fans either through regulations enforced by one of the governing bodies, or by legislation put in place by the Scottish government. The club will be putting a survey on the official site to guage fan opinion before they respond to the SPFL consultation. Further details in the images below (hopefully). This info will also go on the official site alongside the survey link. https://s24.postimg.org/ur2dcdeqd/Strict_liability_Page_1.jpg https://s1.postimg.org/utj2vm4un/Strict_liability_Page_2.jpg
