    So

Good performance today , thought JM got his tactics spot on and Archie marked El-Alagui out the game for most of it. Wish we would learn to hit the ball harder towards goal , both Archie and Elliott guilty of powder puff shots straight at the keeper. 3 top quality saves from McGovern though got Falkirk a point. Collum was horrendous , how he is still refereeing any games in beyond me. Never a sending off and I dont think it was a penalty to us either. Need to play like that next week down at QOTS though as its an inportant game we need to win.
  2. I think thats probably a better split -Offer a trophy and maybe a European place to the winner of the "first stage" - Top 8 reset to zero and play for championship - Bottom 6 + top 2 in lower league again reset to zero and play for 6 places in the top league next year. Would be interesting to see if anyone would consider that. I know Ive heard of a couple of countries that do the reset all points after first stage thing and that defo would be a radical change for Scottish football. Whatever we do it has to be committed to for at least 10 years IMO
  3. The best thing about their play is that they always have players in the correct positions to take a pass from the player with the ball. If you watch closely there is always 4 or 5 players making a move to give the ball player an option and from a tactical point of view thats exactly what I want to see from a football team. Still think the best European league for comparison to Scotland is the Dutch league. They play a similar style of football to us but the players are miles ahead of ours in the technical and tactical departments, its no coincidence that Mark Wotte was brought in to revolutionise the youth setups in Scotland given his experience in Holland. We improve the technical ability and tactical awareness of our players and the leagues will get better. Far too many "old school" coaches are win at all costs and not even interested in giving some for of entertainment for the fans. Pressley is right , a larger league should encourage a more adventurous style fo football that doesnt rely on kick and rush and may allow teams to develop young players. Although given my point about certain coaches still being involved in the game hell knows if that would ever change until they retire or move on. Anyway Barca are the best pure football team in world football at the moment, joy to watch them in full flow
  4. Dunfermlines "loans" are mainly to the Masterton family (ex- Bank of Scotland head honcho) , if he dies then not sure if the family will call the debts in. Similar situation could exist at Morton when their chairman dies as its thought his son will not be willing to piss £300k a year on running the club. Despite our problems we arent that bad at the moment , things could change but we appear to be on a course to at worst break even every year. Still I wonder how the **** we lost so much cash when we had at least 3 big cup ties including live TV payments and we still continued to lose money.
  5. When/if they announce they are liquidated im pretty sure there will be a massive upturn in the sale of grave dancing shoes

    So

We prob need 3 wins to stay out of any relgation issues. I hope we can do enough with the home games and pick up something from QOTS and Ayr away and we "should" be ok. 4th place should still be our aim just in case any league reconstruction happens when/if the h*ns go bust. **** knows tbh as it will depends on Doolan staying fit as he looks like our only goal threat at the moment. Just want this season to end, will be interesting to see what changes Jackie Mac makes for next year as its obvious to everyone the team needs some major work if we want to improve.
  7. Looking forward to getting chucked out next home game as we have ripped up our 50/50 losing tickets for ages, was also making planes with the sale flyers today Yup we are all big kids at heart. Seems a massive over-reaction from the stewards and while arguably technically correct its just crazy to throw people out for that. Opens up a big can of worms for everyone. Simple solution would be an apology from the stewards and a ticket to the next game , sorted
  8. If Gus McPherson was ever our manager I would seriously consider never going back. Horrendous football , while sometimes effective ask any St Mirren fan how glad they were when he left.
  9. We got lucky and sold players to clear the HMRC debts , simple as that IMO. We couldve been ****** over but for once got a bit lucky. Still not gonna stop me gloating about the impending H*n failure though The SPL will invite whatever replacement club back to the SPL although I think this will be at the "cost" to them of an expanded league as surely the idiots that run the 10 other clubs are going to use this chance to push through some changes they want to make when one of the infirm is out of the game so to speak ?

    Balatoni

http://www.theglaswegian.co.uk/football/partick-thistle-fc/partick-thistle-news/2012/02/14/partick-thistle-close-to-deal-for-ex-hearts-stopper-conrad-balatoni-102692-23748199/ Looks like a deal is on the table for him , lets hope it happens. Better than the other options we have at CB IMO

    Just In

One of the worst games ive ever seen Thistle play and only the second time in **** knows how long I have left early.
  12. I buy mine as it suits me to pay for games that way. Years ago I got into the habit of putting £20 away every month to cover my season ticket and ive done it every year for approx 20 years. The club needs to look at incentives to purchase season tickets though as they really dont offer the best value for money. Id look at adding one cup game onto them for starters and some "added value" things like events that only season ticket holders can attend, discounts for hospitality etc (although these are offered now and again why not have a voucher in the book for a discount for 4 people of £X or something like that)
  13. Got the 5 match one for the auld yins Christmas, wasnt sure if i would be able to getinto the office so got it posted. Only ordered yesterday and arrived today, pleasantly surprised
  14. Clarkson is probably the best troll EVER. The man is a complete arse but he has got exactly what he wanted here. Say something "controversial" and you get half the world jumping up and down about it (the rest are either thinking Clarkson is an arse or the reaction is hysterical), especially when he has new books, DVDs and Top Gear Xmas special about to be shown.
  15. 4th goal went in we took the foot off the gas and quite rightly so. The game was won we were under no danger and we have a game on Wednesday night. Some good goals , good play and TBH we couldve had 5 or 6 more and there wouldve been no complaint.
  16. Having tickets all at one bit when the price is £17 means all the change can be kept in one place meaning gates wont run out of change like what happened at Falkirk after 10 people went through. £10 at gate = not that much change required so can be pay at turnstiles. (thats my guess anyway and I think it makes sense)
  17. Not read or seen anything that hints at "a lack of professionalism", what I have seen is just a bunch of m8s messing each other about and having some fun with occasional comments on when games have gone well and also gone bad. Doing that is neither wrong or unprofessional IMO. Nothing that would or could bring the club into direpute and the club have already shown with that youth player that posted the sectarian stuff that they can and will kick people out for that. Pretty sure they have some strict guidelines and any player breaking them would be disciplined heavily. The NFL has a rule that players cannot use social media 90 mins before a game and only once normal media commitments have been met after the game. To me thats the fairest way to look at it and should be the basis for what most clubs/leagues use. (NFL Media Policy

    Jackie

When we have been pish he has largely called it that way expect to hear the same in the reports after the game. Can look at it 2 ways , massive wake up call to a lot of players that they need to work harder , or we really are well and truly ****** this year. Still glass half full for me but its emptying quickly
  19. Difficult situation for the club , handing out shirts/signed whatever to every charity that asked for them would cost a ton of money we dont have. In the past I have had shirts signed that I have purchased and asked the club to get it signed , never any hassle in getting that done. I know the club support MacMillan , Erskine , Glasgow Old Peoples Welfare amongst other charities who do work locally so TBH I think some of the criticism is a bit off on here
  20. Cheers , will round everyone up for a pre Hampden beer then
  21. Jim, Will the tickets purchased online be getting sent out or is it just a case of turn up on the night ? I bought 6 but havent had anything through so far Cheers
  22. Hit pause on the far left hand side and let it all load in first , usually works for me
  23. Some good stuff tonight , not a lot of new things but a fair amount of clarification. Especially liked Ian Maxwell's thoughts on how the playing side is moving with a conscious decision to pick up younger players who have a hunger to improve in the game and to promote from within from our own youth teams. Good joined up thinking on saying to potential new players that 5 from last years u19 went into the first team pool and that should help them attract better players at a younger age and coach them the way they want to. Pretty remarkable turn around from £250k loss to £46k profit , if that can be sustained then we will get out of the financial mess in a medium term. Also that we break even on around 2500 with anything above that allowing the player budget to be increased. If we are playing good football and more importantly winning then I dont see a reason we cant get bigger crowds than 2500 into Firhill , sounds like even as little as 100 extra people a game will make a decent difference to the budgets. Loads more that I cant remember but a positive evening, a ton better organised than a lot of the previous efforts for these things.
  24. Yeah got it as well , usual gibberish from the JT with some bollocks covering letter. Seems to set out some legal viewpoint without actually saying what the Trust is going to do
