  1. I've got one of the original tartan scarves and whilst it's good quality it's small for a gent's* scarf (*used only in a fashion sense, so don't go all Kelvinside on me) and I thought expensive for what it was. But it's great to be able to wear the colours when togged up in the cold and then have folk ask me what tartan it is. I've also got a tie produced for the 125th celebrations, which is obviously outdated now, so a PTFC Tartan tie (no logo) would be great. I also have a navy-blue tie with a "traditional" crest and single thin red and yellows stripes that must be 30year old and in great nick. Whilst I wear the hoodies, TShirts, Polos, I'd like something that's a bit more stylish and suited to the age of those of who were there in 71.
  2. Cheers, was just about to amend to "in a league game" as I'd just remembered the Forfar result.
  3. Got some info from some American mates who use IP Proxy to disguise where they are so they can watch/download BBC and European music shows or are in US forces overseas and use it to see US shows. One that they use is http://www.privacy-gateway.com/notmyip.html I'm not clued up about it, but my reading of this is that the freebie version gives you 3 US ISP addresses. May be worth a try when I get to my home PC tonight. Don't think the boss would be very happy if I f'd-up the internet connection by rerouting everything via the States!
  4. Been going there since before I moved south in 92 and it's still my mates' before and after match haunt. With Jim Brogan being the landlord there was always going to be a certain bias from the regulars, which still exists - but to be fair, I've never ever seen any bother or animosity there and I've never been challenged and I always wear Jags tshirts/hoody (not replica tops) to the gemme. Good pub with good prices too IMO. Brogan always supported the Jagspot when it was running and had notices up for it too.
  5. As Bristol Rovers are my adopted team down here, I was gutted when we did a manager swap with QPR and Rovers got Gerry Francis, who lasted all of three months, but that was a step up for Holloway. He did have a lot of detractors amongst the Gasheads at the time - wonder how they feel now? He is an absolute gentleman and says it as he sees it.
  6. Simple Minds at the Apollo September 81 - loved seeing the band grow since seeing their first ever gig supporting a reggae band (Black slate or Steel Pulse) at Satellite City, but the first gig at the Apollo was literally painful to listen to as the sound was so awful, one of only 3 concerts I've left early. First and last time they played there. Most disappointing concert was in December 1972 when Zep played the Playhouse. Pompous and boring.
  7. At least it's an honest picture with rows of empty seats. Nice picture of the wean cheerin', but surely there's one with of a section of the crowd with no empty seats.
  8. Although gutted by the result, I really enjoyed the match. Whether that's just because I don't get to see them much is open to debate. It certainly beat the turgid non-contact pretty-boy stuff you get in the EPL. Did feel for Halliwell as my last match was the end-of-season win at Dingwall where he played a blinder.
  9. No idea if they are still on sale (doubt it), but my copy bought at the club shop has the whole first half, 2nd half highlights and recent(ish)interviews with the players. Think it may have been a 30th or 35th Anniversary thing.
  10. Also on freesat. Still need a dish though.
  11. As a complete diddy at football, I hung aboot(hid)at right back while Johnny Wark honed his skills in the 141 (Scotstoun West) BB team. Remember Jags playing on a Friday and me getting back to the Church Hall just in time to get my half mark for attendance after "visiting ma granny" so I could get my Good Attendance prize at the Annual Display. There were at least 6 Jags fans in our Company, a Hibie, a Tim and rest were h*ns or didnae bother.
  12. I'm a bit of an eternal optimist that wears rose tinted specs when it comes to the Jags, but I'm starting to think we really are fookt. Can't comment on the performance cos I wasn't there, but that result is an absolute disgrace.
  13. Very few comments and mostly negative so far. I don't have the answers to the Jags woes and how we move forward, influence and/or get a new board, so I don't get involved in the sometimes heated (insult throwing) debates on here. However, many of you have strong opinions and the only way of voicing those and getting these to the boardroom is, as I see it, via the Trust. Being away from Firhill, nostalgia and blind faith make me sign up for any Jags-related fund raising. If I was there, I could perhaps put myself forward for treasurer, but I'm not a strong enough personality or ideas person that I could bring anything to the table, so my support is purely financial. So my message to those of strong opinion is that the only way the Jags Trust will work is if you put some effort into making it work - "Make it your Jags Trust" - join and voice those opinions in person at the AGM, not hide behind the alias' on here. Surely working together to achieve this will be far more effective than being part of a mob outside Firhill shouting "Sack the Board". Jim Rudge
  14. Can someone nip in and dig up Firhill on Friday night, please?
  15. I'm 55 as well (well will be next month). There's no getting away from it that football isn't the experience it was when we were lads. For all the passion shown on this and other teams' sites there is not the attachment (for me) to the players that you got when you had players that were there for years. The passion for the club is not, in my view, being transferred to the players as you can't get attached to them as they are unlikely to be there for more than two seasons. The Forsythes and Hansens of this day wouldn't be allowed to grow with Thistle and then be transferred at a profit, they're nabbed at too young an age by big name clubs and languish in reserves or go on loan. How can any fan connect with Balatoni if we know he's off in January, no matter how great he plays for us? How can any kid have a favourite Jags player nowadays - they're never there long enough. No more Jackie Campbells. I haven't a clue who's who when I come up for my all too infrequent 4 visits a season. It's a good post by Firhillista which I think may also be the view of a lot of older fans. It's a sad day when players leave Firhill to improve their lot by going to Inverness, Dundee and Falkirk. And playing each other 4 times a season is just a 'kin joke - always has been. And no, I don't have any answers apart from suggesting that each Leagues' revenue is shared equally for the next 10 years to try and even the field.
  16. Nice surprise last Saturday when a complimentary copy of the Bristol Rovers programme dropped through the letter ox with a letter from Robert Reid asking ifI'd like to renew my programme subscription. Good to see someone being proactive at Firhill. If any Nomads are interested it's £2.50 plus 72p postage per programme for UK postage. Cheques for however many you want to be sent to Robert at Firhill. £48.96 for the league season.
  17. Absolutely none taken - that's a far better option. J
  18. Silver Member from the start - won a signed ba'. Practically every club nowadays runs a similar scheme, even Chippenham Town - surely the idea is that it's a win-(chance of)win situation for both punter and club and the figures have been done to take that in. Nice to see that some aren't cashing in, but if they don't inform the club, it's money that lies in the bank untouchable. Ther're no getting their ba' back though.
  19. On the Paypal front - it's all a matter of trust, but I'm happy to act as an intermediary if folks want to send me cheques which I'll put into my own bank account, but then top up my paypal account from that with the same amount and from there into the sponsorship pot. Agree it should be Halliwell. Jim.
  20. Any ideas how many Gasheads? They've been asking on their forum.
  21. I've just posted on the Nomads forum asking if we're sponsoring a player this season - something else for the newsletter, Tam, please?
  22. Are we going to try and sponsor a player this year?
  23. As Rovers are my adopted team down here, I'm going to post suggestions for pubs to visit before the match on their forum. When I come up, I don't drink in a "Thistle pub" so am out of touch for where to suggest that would be welcoming. Munns? Firhill Tavern? Alan Rough lounge? Jaconelli's ?
