  1. People entitled to their own views BUT deliberately picking on one guy in a photae (yes he's a mate) once was bad enough. Repeating it was out of order. Not sure what the agenda was there. Not defending the actions of anybody of a Jaggy persuasion (and two wrongs definitely don't make a right in my personal book) but one comment I'd like to make - from my spot on the terracing behind the North Stand, I watched these 'nice' Pars hanging over the edge of the Main Stand taunting and begging people on the pitch for a fight. They showed a lot less class than their players and officials on the day. People all around me in North Stand were gesturing at them. Only PGB didn't snap them with his untrusty lens. Or didn't choose to post those photos. We're a pretty tight knit group in the EoS Jags, so I'm not trying to claim impartiality here, but this is random snap out of context. Jags fans have been more 'together' this season than for many years. Let's keep it that way.
  2. I haven't been able to get the Maryhill song out of my head all day. Please keep the bit about Shaggy and wife services quiet though. Don't want to cause a stamp and the man has a (fitba) job to do.
  3. Walking to Easter Road and corpy bus to Tynecastle with local mates who lack fitba taste. Not been to New St. Midden yet, so it too.

  5. E%EoS will be running one from Edinburgh but size not decided yet.
  6. Somebody who has seen the boys more than once should probably answer that but physically back 4 all looked strong, especially centre backs. Couple of the younger guys further up pitch possibly but not quite ready physically at moment. But then again I'm no scout
  7. Good day out for the Spartans boys. They put up a creditable show for a non-league outfit. Pushing foo many forward for equaliser in 89th minute left them four v two at back for Jags third. Great to see the King and Jaggy MacNamara showing such an interest in the young Jags. Also great to see the young Jags also try to play a decent passing game even when under a bit of pressure.
  8. We'll be there. Son - also a Jags ST holder - is in the Spartans squad. I'll have to be a traitor for the day :-(
  9. 7Aug 1967. Jags 0-0 Nottingham Forest after moaning at father for previous couple of years about me not going. Stood in City End. Spent more time watching and listening to the one mad English guy than game. Family realised I was hooked. Can't remember first goal but standing behind goal for first year or two I got hooked on goalies. Niven was my first hero.
  10. Not huge. Saw him play for Edinburgh Uni last year. The day I saw him he wasn't an out-and-out striker. Having said that him and a bloke called Beacher our Bleacher or something like that were the two stand-out players in the Uni team that day and in general the whole team were very physically fit looking.
  11. Totally agree with LJB. Dark day for fitba. FWIW I Wrote about it in fit of astonishment and anger yesterdat here https://tammcturk.jux.com/
  12. Apparently not: AT on Twitter says: "The leaked email from S Regan was sent to: Barrie Jackson; Jim Ballantyne; Rod Petrie; Alan McRae; Neil Doncaster; R Topping Also to Rod (Harper Macleod) and A S Leigh"
  13. With the latest Div 3 statements from Peterhead and Arbroath (who also have somebody on the SFL Board) it is looking increasingly unlikely that the pressure of the SFA, SPL and their mates in the media is working. I still stick with my view that 'they' are too much of a financial basket case to be allowed entry at all at the moment but now hope that our board will smell the coffee and vote for div 3 so we can all get on with the fitba again.
  14. We all know that the purpose of these 'proposals' is solely to get the newco into membership of one of the leagues asap. It doesn't take a great conspiracy theorist to work out that one of the great advantages of this for them and the other cheek is that it becomes more difficult to get rid of them again once they have their crympline-uniformed foot in the door. Today, I e-mailed a last minute plea to PTFC asking the Board to take a slightly different approach to the decisions the SFL is being asked to make on Friday. I know sporting integrity is important and I am one of the hold-outs not renewing season ticket yet BUT given the new revelations of the last few days I think it is time that the Board looks at the potential financial meltdown if the newco is voted into the SFL in any division as well as the question of integrity. FWIW here is the text of the e-mail: ---------------------------------- Please pass on this final plea to the Board to think very carefully about how they vote on Friday. I would prefer the Board came out with a clear statement in advance of the SFL meeting on Friday stating that PTFC will have nothing to do with the proposals to foist Sevco on the first division in return for a 'working party to think about possible future changes' to Scottish football. These changes can and should be negotiated absolutely separately from the question of what to do with Sevco, and on past performance by the SPL and SFA I find it hard to believe that PTFC would fall for their old 'jam tomorrow' trick. Failing such a clear statement by the Board in advance of the meeting on Friday, then I would ask the Board to pay particularly careful attention to the financial data that has made its way into the public domain in recent days. Leaving aside questions of sporting integrity and the multiple legal cases still to be sorted out, we find ourselves in a position now where the SFL clubs are being asked, as a matter of urgency, to vote a newco into the ranks of the SFL despite the fact that we know nothing about the investors behind the newco, have had no time to do due diligence on them or their business plan and have no proof that they have the funds to complete a season in any division. We DO now know that the oldco, even while in administration, managed to make a trading loss of £4 million from mid-February until the end of June, a quite stunning level of financial ineptitude DESPITE the massive wage cuts they made during that period. Nothing suggests that the newco has the investment to sustain such losses. It equates to a potential annual loss of £12+ million, although we do not know the full scale of the mess because neither the oldco, the administrators nor the newco are able to present accounts for 2011 and for 2012 to date. We also know that NO public pronouncements have been made by the newco suggesting that they have any plans in place to cut costs by over £1 million per month. When this saga started I was of the opinion that the oldco/newco/sevco should have the chance to apply for membership of the league on an equal footing with any other potential applicants. Given the new financial information released in the last couple of days, I have now come to the conclusion that it is not in the interest of PTFC or the SFL to countenance membership at present in any division. To call the financial state of the newco fragile would be a massive understatement. As such, I hope that PTFC will not risk causing any more damage to the reputation of Scottish football and will vote that any application from the newco be put on ice until such times as they provide full and proper insight into a) the past financial situation of the oldco, the financial situation during the period in administration, c) the current financial situation of the newco and d) the future business plans of the newco. 15. Berwick Rangers board next up with a no to SLF 1 statement: http://www.berwickrangersfc.co.uk/f-news/news.html
  16. Read this blog for a list of questions indirectly backing up the Clyde stance, i.e. questioning the viability of Sevco : http://scotslawthoughts.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/seven-days-have-passed-mr-greens-promised-answers-re-sevco-seem-to-have-gone-missing/
  17. Their server has crashed again. ANybpdy got the text so they can paste it here?
  18. According to Alex O'Henley of BBC Radio nan Gàidheal the board consists of the following: jim ballantyne, Ewan Cameron, david Longmuir plus 6 directors Ken Ferguson, Gilbert Lawrie, j leishman, anne mckeown, gordon mcdougall and Malcolm Mackay
  19. Airdrie - conflict of interest (he's an oldco shareholder Pars - conflict of interest (club stands to gain) Livvi - will play hard ball Alloa - no idea Arbroath - no idea Sons - no idea Queens - surely they'll want to fill Hampden with newco fans in Div 3 :-) Brechin - called for sporting integrity last week.
  20. I'm told Livvi and Airdrie have reps on the SFL Board and that the total is 6. WHo are the others anybody know? Vital to lobby them mercilessly this week. The Lvivi rep will play hard ball, the Airdrie one will assume the position. Need to know stance of the other 4
  21. As to the original question. My crystal ball tells me "they" will start the season in Div 3 (they'll apply for that cos they can't really afford wages) but they will fail to finish the season when they go mammaries skywards again once HMRC and BDO get all forensic and medieval with them over past transgressions and the Duff and Phelps sale of assets for heehaw like the real value.
  22. Who sits on the Board of the SFL? Names are not listed on the SFL website. They need lobbied hard - and pronto.
  23. Let the SFA know what you think. It may well not be the same as I think but here's the e-mail I sent them this morning. --------------------------------------- Dear Sir/Madam, Please pass on as appropriate within the SFA/SSC. For months I have watched in dismay as the SFA has failed to show any leadership in a situation that threatens to rob Scottish football of any semblance of sporting integrity, a situation in which root and branch reform is clearly needed. Such inertia may be acceptable from those office bearers with a clear conflict of interest in the Ranger/newco situation such as Mr. Campbell Ogilvie. The lack of action on the part of Mr. Stewart Regan has, however, baffled me for months. Imagine my surprise then at the dynamism suddenly shown by Mr. Regan yesterday as he hit the media to inform the fans of Scottish football that our views do not matter and that the newco must be allowed into SFL 1 immediately, failing which the nation will descend into civil unrest. I have rarely heard such ill-informed scaremongering, nor am I used to anybody speaking in an official capacity on behalf of any organisation making claims (spurious or otherwise) without providing some form of evidence to back them up. Five of us who are all long-term members of the Scotland Supporters Club were about to purchase season tickets for the forthcoming World Cup qualification campaign. I am writing to inform you that we have decided to put that order on hold until such times as the SFA makes it position clear on MR. Regan's outrageous comments in the media. As a fan of an SFL 1 club, I will happily spend the equivalent amount on my club instead if the SFA continues to be used as a mouthpiece for the benefit of only one of its many members. At a time when the vast majority of fans are calling for sporting integrity and for the SFA/SPL/SFL to stick to rules, customs and practices, the current attempts to make up reforms on the hoof and railroad SFL 1 clubs into accepting a club that the SPL clubs were unwilling to accept was bad enough when they were just the rabid outpourings of the sensationalist section of the media. To hear them re-iterated by an official of the body that is supposed to oversee Scottish football is incomprehensible. I very much look forward to reading a clear public statement from the SFA Mr. Regan's comments and about how the Association thinks Scottish football should be run in the future. -------------------------------------------
