  1. On the where were you when you heard Kennedy was assassinated, Mo Johnston had signed for Rangers etc front, the where was I when I heard today's news, and who I was able to brake the news to, was personally sublime. Great fun!
  2. True. As I remember that was one of his first games for us when he was still a 19 yo on loan. I think we can accept the guy is a decent pro so you have to question why he didn't develop in his remaining time at Firhill yet has so obviously improved at Dingwall. Not blaming McCall for releasing him but it's worth remembering Boyd was on our books at a time, under a previous manager's tenure, when no younger player progressed at Firhill. The same time Mark Stewart had to leave for Falkirk to make something of his career.
  3. Excuse me, in your original post you did say Jim Duffy? I really think to be taken seriously you have to tell us you were at the kiddin'. And btw I'm one who'd love to see Jim Duffy coaching at Firhill, but manager, please tell me you were joking?
  4. He's still young, especially for his position, but I'm also not sure about the "bags of potential". Certainly will improve and with that I'd imagine he'd have less nightmare games. Being relatively small for a centreback and having little pace to compensate probably rules him out of ever making it much above our current level. If we had even the budget of a few seasons ago I'd be keen on signing Conrad as apart from his bouts of low confidence I feel at worse he'd be a useful squad player but should improve into a more than adequate player.
  5. Go along with that. I actually think we played our best football this season at Almondvale, the 1-2 defeat back in September. We took nothing from that game but at least we could feel a youngish team could only improve. Certainly I doubt even the most pessimistic amongst us could've predicted how absolutely shit we'd be on our next visit. I'm not one that questions McNamara's motivational/man-management skills as I simply doubt there's ever many folk in football his age have those abilities.. I do tho' wonder how a guy, who must have played alongside inspirational characters for most of his playing career, can assemble so many players lacking a bit of grit in the one team and still expect to see a fight back. Scariest thing for me today was that we were beaten by a side who had no manager and were probably on average younger but even if not had certainly no more experience than our lot.. I could take a defeat against a team of journeymen who at least had a bit of experience but today's debacle against a bunch of kids is awfy hard to take.
  6. If that's correct then it must have been truly awful. Anyway coming to think of it was it it not Hoddle & Waddle?.
  7. There's talk of playing young Gavin Griffin if Sinclair doesn't make it. In fact I can't see Aaron being risked if it's a hamstring. Griffin is left sided but I've no idea how good or ready the lad is..
  8. Can't say I'm enthusiastic about this simply as I don't like watching games on artificial surfaces as much as grass. All the same if it's going to be a money saver and attract groundshare and some hire then I can see the benefit. If it helps keep us at Firhill as opposed to some out of the way legoland and also retain some semblance of full time football then all the better.
  9. Thanks for that. Certainly appears far more accurate than my guesswork,
  10. I didn't really want to go into this as I'm only surmising but I owe PGS an explanation. By my thinking Ian has brought thru a good number of youngsters who have showed potential (namely Burns, Bannigan, Fraser, Campbell & MacBeth). Jackie agrees these players show potential but are not in his opinion 1st team ready (I don't need to repeat his comments yet again). This is backed up with the fact he's put three of those players out on loan and is bringing in other club's players of a similar age in on loan whilst our players get hopefully up to speed. Now I'm not saying Ian hasn't done a great job but I do think there's a strong probability that there's a clash of opinion of a technical nature between Cameron & McNamara most likely concerning approach to basics. I might of course be way off the mark but I would think that getting our home grown youths ready to step into the first team as quickly as possible rather than having to be sent out on loan.would be a priority.
  11. Above post is right but in such a completely wrong way. Ian leaving was surely no surprise? He did a fine job no doubt but you didn't have to read too much between the lines to know Ian wouldn't be staying. As far as I'm aware Archie is already taking the Under 19s and has been involved in the coaching side for a wee while now. I don't know how far on he is with his badge but I'm sure I heard he has been attending the SFA coaching, school. Not sure that Archie's inability to pass a ball would affect his chances of being an effective coach. Plenty of extremely successful coaches never had much in the way of playing ability., .
  12. I suggest it doesn't matter that much the why you buy a season ticket. If it became obvious the Club were expecting you to buy an ST purely out of straight loyalty sales would tail off. Beattie's no mug and I don't think it'll come to that.. The Club's skint so no one should be expecting things for nothing with their annual purchase. What I and I should imagine many others would expect is some discounts and offers based on incremental sales. Discounts on hospitality packages or special days hospitality like the one for the Livi game, that sort of offer. That won't cost the Club and would help generate ST sales if promoted at time of issue. ..
  13. Marketing opportunity alert!. Every cloud and all that http://3.bp.blogspot...600/arsenal.jpg
  14. As pointed out before it's not the HM part that worries those two pillars of the fitba establishment.
  15. I assume the rumours would make more sense if Ian was being lined up as a replacement for Brian Welsh who could either be getting the manager's job or heading to the US of A. Other rumours are once again about Livingston's finances and as far as I'm aware Ian Cameran is a CA in his real life.
  16. As I said in an earlier post I don't think this is the right time or thread to air such grievances. I feel we (ST holders) should see this as a worthwhile initiative, an attempt to get more bums on seats and the Club should be praised for this. David Beattie doesn't strike me as naive and I would expect further initiatives aimed at ensuring future ST sales are protected. The only sensible way to do that is to offer season tickets as value for money against pay at the gate. The Club thinking that fans buy season tickets purely as a leg up to the Club would be total folly. Even if many of us do I'm sure we'd be pissed off by being patronised in such a manner. As I say, tho', I don't believe.David Beattie would be that daft. Given what's been going on let's cut him some slack this season.
  17. Well I've no complaints. Even an old grump like me appreciates the need for initiatives like this. Best discussed at a later date and on another thread but I do think the Club has to come up with something to protect future season ticket sales.
  18. and a direct quote from Jackie on the STV website
  19. Wee bit info courtesy Hibs official site http://www.hibernian...0~47696,00.html edited to add I see he nearly always played 90 mins for Stirling last season. Realise they didn't have the strongest of squads but at least the lad's got Div 1 experience.
  20. Is this one of those Chinese whispers?
  21. Here we go again. Second administration three seasons ago and dumped to Div 3. Win back to back promotions with Bollan/Shaggy and are sitting mid table alongside a club who were playing SPL football for the past few seasons. That tho' is not nearly good enough for a club of Livingston's stature. As in the past the arrogance of the folk that run that lot knows no limits. Everyone wants to see their team punch above its weight but there's a huge difference between optimism and self delusion.
  22. Ah well, crisis over. Rangers fans can now enjoy a collective phew.
  23. Also makes you wonder what sort of mascot would be appropriate if as rumoured our new sponsors are from the legal trade. Personally I rather like the idea of a giant Finch named Atticus. Could of course be a Legal Eagle or a duck named Ally McTeal? Rumpole of the Nollee?, Dick the Advocate? Fraser the Ambulance Chaser? Much work to be done methinks.
