  1. Lot to agree about there. I'm not sure what category do schools/youth football but they're in short supply as well due partly to "intimidation". By that I mean having the job satisfaction knocked out of them by a combination of kids imitating our so called professionals and otherwise rational parents going mental at the touchline. Big Col's certainly right about crap decisions going on for decades. So sadly has the religious nonsense as well. I can mind back in the sixties some stushie about a ref (Callaghan?) who booked (no yellow cards then) Yogi Hughes twice in an ugly sisters game and failed to send him off. I don't know (or really care) if two bookings back then was an automatic sending off or it was just conventional practice but I seem to remember our Southside brethren mumbling about some sort of Papist plot.
  2. I've said it on here a few times actually but you're correct about Campbell. He's physically strong and thus tempting to play him middle of the park. Think his best position would be out right but he's comfortable on either wing. Seems very good taking the ball down the line. I'm quite surprised that he hasn't made his debut earlier as I don't feel he was much of a risk. Incidentally Bannigan's goal is described in the P & J thus . Looks like Stuart is having a good start to his loan spell.
  3. Think you've gone too far there. I'm sure CP has had more moronic posts.
  4. Hodge would have been my Man of the Match. I noticed (more in the 1st half) he was really getting wired in as well.
  5. Coming from another angle was anyone not slightly surprised when Willie Collum got the OF game? Given he didn't exactly come out that game being covered with praise he then goes and gets given the Hibs v Hearts game. Is it possible that other so called top refs have been knocking back the higher profile games? I'm of the opinion that all this nonsense has been on a slow burner and Neil Lennon's inane ramblings have only provided that little extra to get the fire going.
  6. Agree entirely. Last season we were maybe unlucky to be beaten by Dundee Utd but at the same time we didn't score so really we had little to complain about. This season we're not even up to that level. Imo we've only two players (Donnelly & Erskine) who just now could feasibly cause the average SPL side problems plus maybe at a push a third in Flannigan. All the rest can only provide damage limitation. I don't mean to flatter those three players mentioned just they're the only ones I can think of who can hold on to the ball or beat a player. With that in mind I'd rather we progressed against teams inferior to us (there's still a few out there) and hope we can get the other match winner (Buchanan) back in form for the next round.
  7. was talking to a Dundee fan last night and he was saying they're quite upbeat about survival. Generally assumed that the £130K their trust has raised plus pledges from business community is about 50% of cash needed for some sort of survival. Don't know what price they're budgeting for re sale of Griffiths and/or Harkins or indeed if that's in the equation. Likewise their home crowds have to stack up as well till the end of the year.
  8. Maybe us fans should all go into a huddle before the kick off and the players can either clap or boo us. Obviously the NW Bus would have to into their own little huddle.
  9. I though that was what fans were supposed to do, boo the other team.
  10. Maybe if the terracing was bit steeper more folk would go there. When it's behind the goal and only a handful of steps high the view's not too clever. Places like Somerset Pk and Forfar (at the far end) even Cowdenbeath are fine but I find the likes of Dingwall & Annan pretty restricted.
  11. That was my view as well. Paton's missed tackle was quite far out but it seemed to wrong foot the rest of the defence. But as you say a video might prove it was more of a collective error. It should be said Paton's judgement with tackles is usually very good.
  12. Actually I think that's what they call a scrum
  13. If you can't be arsed with a thread about league reconstruction in Scotland and if it's largely an irrelevance to you why are you posting on it?
  14. You & Ancipital may well have a point but aren't you doing a bit of a McCall by criticising the fans that bother to turn up?
  15. first time for a good while when a team has equalised against us that we've gone on to win. Dunfermline away last season, I think. How many (like me) thought "here we go again" when Smith scored today?
  16. Surely that's a wind up? btw I agree with everything else. I don't think McHale was even spoken to by the ref.
  17. I seem to remember being told at the last Trust shindig that we (the fans) would be asked to dig deep to help the Club, short term cash flow being the problem. That of course was in the days when David, Graeme, Martin & Tom ( was that not a Marvin Gaye song?) were still in position. I don't suppose for one moment at this point in time there's credible lines of communication open between Club & Fan. Cash flow problems don't disappear on their own so it may be fair to presume that directors of the Club are propping things up just now. Factor in what kni posted above and I would say it's unreasonable to expect strengthening of the team in January.
  18. Aye a both option please. I feel to maximise funds that something ring-fenced like Youth development or a loan signing should be targeted . Just handing cash over to the Club to purchase light bulbs etc won't get the same public/fan response. If it's planned to sell raffle tickets etc to non Jags fans say round the pubs etc then cash prizes would be better than the likes of hospitality & football tops. Also if money raised was for youth development then non fans are more likely to contribute.
  19. That's all true but the SFL is even more incompetent and arguably more self serving (at the bottom end at least) than the SPL. I agree that only one club dropping down from a 12 club SPL is ridiculous but remember no clubs drop down from a 30 club SFL. In fact I'll go further and say that fans from SFL clubs aren't best placed to criticise the SPL in any shape or form (bar maybe their one club relegation policy) when we apparently tolerate three tediously repetitive leagues of ten, one of which has no relegation at all.
  20. Wouldn't be least bit surprised if that's the 16 tomorrow. I would be inclined to find a place for Campbell. Not sure we need another defender (McGeough) on the bench with McNamara able to drop back and fill any defending role.
