  1. Can I just also say that the Woody rocked and rolled today. Both before and after. You could look on this as one of these 'trip advisor' announcements.
  2. Phew! It is quite a while since I felt as emotionally drained after a game as I did after that one. I'd have thought, assuming fitness isn't an issue, that the team in the second half should run out for the rest of the season. Putting both Salmon and Edwards on was a near masterstroke from a manager who has faced criticism. As an irreligious git, I did look up to the sky when we were one - nil down. I wonder what heaven looks like with doo-cots?
  3. TJR, Good points.Perhaps the route to the top position in any club should be via the guy that develops our younger players, not through external appointee's? Assuming they are any good, obviously. I quite like the guy, forgotten his name, that manages our under 20's crop of players. (Interviews on Jags Zone, etc.) He, too, seems to have his head screwed on. Incidentally, George Smith must be within his target range?
  4. I may have said this elsewhere on the forum, but Dools comes across as a good communicator and is doing his badges. I'd quite like it if, after the end of the Archibald era, y'know decades hence, that Kris Doolan would be considered as our new manager? For there have been only a few folk that loyal to the club. Apart from that, he seems to know what he is talking about. Thoughts?
  5. So nothing then? Quite an arguement about zero? Phew! That's a relief. As you were. Lady Isobel Barnett and the amazing Juke Box Rebel misunderstand the purpose of moderation powers. It is not a matter of taste, I probably agree with both of them, however it is a matter of potential liability. No regulars here want this site taken down because of irresponsible comments. Please play nice.
  6. Could someone explain to me what the song is? Then I could moderate all of your comments? I am unaware of any song sung by our fans that is ridiculous. Perhaps 'Mary, from Maryhill' but that is satirical or just ridiculous / funny.. Give me evidence of an unacceptable song and I will delete it. To remind you all, this site is subject to curiosity by people that would like to see it shut down. We really don't want to give them grounds. Please play clean? If there are indeed unacceptable things being said here, then I have the facility to remove them. Frankly, I have never seen the need. So, what's the story?
  7. Keown seems to live football. It is something I like about all of our squad. But if you asked me, Keown, Lawless and our favourite Kangaroo appear to have even more than most. I hope they are all around for the long term.
  8. allyo, "We need points. I wouldn't settle for less than a draw. That's not saying that I expect it, but no reason why we shouldn't go there looking for something." A win? You, sir, are half way there. Best wishes to the team!
  9. Whilst I think that we could have been drawn back by a late equaliser, I also think we could have won 3 - 0. Neither scenario happened. We won a game by the slenderest of margins, We won! Sure, we could have even lost, but we didn't. We won! It is all if's and buts afterwards. Here is the scoreline: Partick Thistle 1 Plastic Pitch Warriors 0. What is it about football supporters that turns victory - y'know, We won- into a bleatfest? We won. They lost. End of. Just saying.
  10. Willjag, I am still moderating this forum. Frankly there hasn't been a lot to do. A couple of slightly 'immoderate' comments and intervention on the thread appears to be enough. Jags fans are usually pretty civilised. Obviously, I can only moderate threads I read. Is there a way of alerting me to 'issues' that I might otherwise have missed?
  11. Seems to me that, eventually, we will get either a standing area or a very small sittiing area where the clay gnomes ought to be. If that ever occurs I would quite like recognition for our Mr Doolan. He has stuck with us through thick and thin, I don't recall that sort of club loyalty since Jackie Campbell, In the modern era it seems to me to be pretty well unique. Thoughts?
  12. I am not at all sure I know what 'injury prone' means. Is it someone who gets kicked off the park by an opponent. It is someone who is fragile? Perhaps the experts around here could say why any football club doesn't have a reasonable responsibility of care for their employees? Partick Thistle appears, correct me if I am wrong, to have taken an adult and responible duty of care. So? Injury prone: I have the scars.
  13. I am kind of ultra-optimistic today. Call me stupid, why don't you?
  14. Fearchar, I hope to be a brick sometime. If not, perhaps I could be a gnome? Who knows?
  15. LIB, What little I saw of James in the First team impressed me ré his potential. Looks like he could be coming good!
  16. Within reason, and without ad hominems, people can say what they like. Oh! and obviously any calls for violence. Personally I think Alan Archibald may have the south stand named after him, or at least one of the gnomes!
  17. Just to also mention, we are getting our own training facility. Chic Charnley would be delighted to not have to fence idiots on Maryhill Park!
  18. "Can assure you that I haven't been continually happy clappy for the last 35 years. It's just that when we have a manager who gets us to the premier league, keeps us there longer than anyone in my time, achieves the highest league position in about 40 years and shows loyalty when other clubs come calling, I'm inclined to give him a break after a few dodgy performances. Not sure what some people are looking for really." We are a smallish club with a fantastic support. We have incredibly good sponsors. We have youth development going on apace. This is a club doing what a club should do. Partick Thistle does it for me.
  19. It would be a shame if a prime crown bowling green was dug up. It is also a shame that folk are expected to play football on it.
  20. It would be good to have more information. The injury list is horrendous. I don't know about anyone else, but I miss watching Dumbuya. I thought he was a bit special. Interesting that you think most of the recoveries will be before or around Christmas. That will do me for a present!
  21. potty trained, I wonder if you agree with me? We made our best chances after they scored.
  22. What eljaggo said above. The guy is a total hero to me.
  23. Well, that's a relief. We all ought to be aware that even veiled threats of violence are, as MMFC nearly says, very bad Karma. This web site is vulnerable to 'take down' by people that think it is all fun and games until someone loses an eye. The thing we are most likely to lose is this very web site. For the vulnerability that it has is folk that think that there is a 'free pass' to the extent that it can be neutral about 'comments' advocating, in even the most roundabout way, violence. It cannot. If the site is 'threatened' by closure over folk that advocate violence either tacitly or openly, it will be shut down. I would prefer that that does not happen. ---------------------------------------------------------- Any future suggestions on this thread of implied or potential violence will be deleted. As will any supporting comments. So too will any attempt to open another 'thread' on this. ---------------------------------------------------------- Keep it clean guys! We are better than this.
  24. Jaggernaut, That is not entirely helpful. What is the background and the history of The Firhill Radicals? A group I have never heard of before.
