The live stream has been a godsend for us nomads so hope it keeps going. Ive also had a season ticket for most of last 20 seasons since moving to Norway, but only made 4 home games last season, in 2 minds about purchasing this season with the new TV deal meaning more Friday night games as depending on flight availability and how up front the change to fixtures are I wouldn’t want to book up an expensive trip to Glasgow and find out I’d miss kick off as I’m still driving from my flight from Aberdeen
-
I hope so as they are still billing me monthly
-
Going with official site we have a 1st team squad of 15 (2 on long term injury so 13) 1 goalkeeper 1 left back 3 center backs 5 central midfielders (2 of which are injured) 4 wingers 1 forward

They work together on Radio Clyde, and have also set up a charity football team previously. Wilson (like any manager/coach) needs to be allowed to bring in an assistant they know and trust, they seem to know each other well
-
We only made that loss due to getting a televised cup tie at Ibrox that generated £200k in revenue

Trust me he’s not.

From what I’ve heard (from a very good source) Massively reduced offer, weeks after he’d heard nothing and had to call club himself. Its not him going that seems the issue, it’s the fact a long serving legend at club has been left in limbo and treated pretty poorly is the issue.

You’ve not quite got that bit of history correct. Benny Rooney was fired in 86 and Bertie Auld came back with 7 games to keep us up, and along with his (and Rooneys) assistant Mike Jackson they won 3 drew 3 and only lost 1. Ken Bates bought the club in June in that year and brought in Derek Johstone as a player coach, without the management team knowing, plus he was on more than Bertie or Mike, Mike found out and quit, Bertie followed and 86/87 turned into a disaster. 33 league games, 8 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats prior to him being fired. Only Scott Symon and Gerry Collins have a worse win percentage (18% & 7% versus DJ’s 23%).

Reasons Our Managers Have Left In The Past
Norgethistle replied to Jaggernaut's topic in Main Jags forum
Bertie Auld wasn’t sacked in his 2nd tenure, he resigned as our new owner Ken Bates installed Derek Johnstone as player coach without this knowledge and on more money than him and his assistant manager. Played 7 won 3 drew 3 and lost 1 in that tenure, no way was any manager getting sacked with that record -
Graham and Wilson got their tactics spot on last night, team chased everything, battled for everything and showed real character, especially with a bare bones squad. Not a bad performance from any players in the team. Some real standouts in Stanway, Crawford, McBeth, Graham and young Jamie Low. Play with that attitude and desire and we should fear no one.

I think the pressure to change it will come from Celtics absolute domination over 13 of last 14 years with no sign of it letting up. The lack of competition is stifling their European abilities and will start to affect TV audiences. Brendan Rogers is already on record stating a smaller league doesn’t work, whilst hinting towards a bigger league. I believe if SPFL polled the real customers (the fans) via a season ticket holder survey, the outcome would be for bigger leagues and less repetition of opponents, but SPFL do not see fans as their base customer base, they see Sky as it. Parkhead, whilst sold out every week is rarely full, fans are bored with the same repeated 4 or 6 times a season, and buy their ST to secure a seat for European nights, Rangers games and cup finals. The local sports pub here used to show the old firm games, and pub was pretty full for them. Games were also on Norwegian TV. Old firm games no longer are, and if pub shows game it’s on 1 screen in the corner, the appeal is dropping. Scotland games though still pack out the pub, so it’s not a lack of ex-pats. Longer term for Scottish football and especially the national team, bigger leagues allow to bleed young talent, play attractive football with less fear of 1 defeat dropping you from a top 6 position to a relegation position. Personally id like to see a top league of 16, with 30 regular league games, playing each team twice only. I’d have a second tier of the same or 18. 2 straight up and down, with a playoff for a 3rd place, in a normal 2 semi final, 1 final format.

Correct, sorry i was thinking of the Road Hole. All up hill for what felt like 3 mile at the 16th or 17th

Great to hear, and again many thanks not only for the site but the help regarding Thistle Pins and getting the bios correct.

Shouldn't laugh... (Inverness relegation thread)
Norgethistle replied to Albert's Ghost's topic in Main Jags forum
That’s due to the holding company that owe them a fortune agreeing to pay in full (with non refundable deposit already posted) rather than get court action against them -
Falkirk haven’t been in the top flight in 15 seasons, and spent 4 of those in the 3rd tier.
-
Leicester City won the EPL using the method
-
Going with the current state of newspapers that’s maybe not a bad thing

So your post / accusation here and Facebook is based solely on second hand gossip that you don’t know is true or not

As you or anyone else on here (including me) have no idea why he left after a month it’s a bit wide of the mark to criticize. It could have been family issues, job promised wasn’t job he got, or various other matters. As football is quite a small market I’d be surprised if most folk applying didn’t know someone at the club, but are you speculating they are mates? As Levi came from Barrow (job wise and location wise) Barraclough has never managed or played there where are you basing this on

He won a play off final with Motherwell against Rangers so has some experience in Scotland, also managed Ireland so has other experience
-
That was my point badly made

Is this though a Scottish problem? Norways top league (Eliteserien)is 16, played over 30 games. 2 teams straight down 1 team in relegation playoffs Norways 2nd tier (Obos) is 16 teams, playing 30 games. 2 direct promotion places, 3rd to 6th play in a playoff to compete with 3rd bottom of Eliteserien to have a place in top league. 2 teams go straight down, 14th goes in a playoff. Effectively 6 of the 16 teams can swap out at end of season. 30 of 32 teams were full time last year. From my reckoning 26 of 32 made a decent profit, all bar 1 have a profit over 3 years. Crowds aren’t bigger than Scotland but sponsorships are, TV money split fairer, money heavily invested in grassroots, which shows the amount of really good, very valuable Norwegian players plying their trade throughout Europe at top clubs. These are all players who’ve made their initial club a lot of money and rewards the investment in youth football. Probably every club in top league has players that have came through the youth ranks, do you see that at Rangers or Celtic? You see it at Bøde Glimt, I think 27 of 29 squad are Norwegian with 3 of the starting line up on Thursday in Europe being academy players. The same is seen throughout the leagues. The stats for Scottish teams in top 2 divisions this season playing Scottish born players under the age of 21 is atrocious. There are probably clubs in Norways top league who’s minutes given to U21 home grown players are greater than the SPFL combined for minutes given for U21 Scottish home grown players. 4th division kids end up going to 2nd tier clubs at 18, then transferred up a few years later, with the 4th division club benefiting from each sale, investing it back in youth (with a bit of older heads) to generate the next transfer. This is evident when you look at Norwegian national team, only 4 of last squad play in Norway. 6 in England, 5 in Germany, 5 in Italy, 2 in France., plus 1 in Sweden and 1 in MLS.

Coaching with Dundee, hence why we couldn’t get him to Firhill for some pictures. Not they wouldn’t let him just he’s working during the day.

Mark will be sadly missed, his work towards getting the DSA to where it is today will not be forgotten. Mark was a huge champion of disability rights in football and beyond. I only got to know Mark through getting involved and then onboard with the DSA, I’m grateful I did. Mark had a fantastic sense of humor and was forever winding up various members of the DSA committee with his wit, there was never a dull moment with him around, especially with him being a Toffee and Charlene being a Kopite the run up to Mersey derbies were hilarious. Whilst I can’t make Firhill tomorrow ill be watching from Norway on Jagszone and will join in with the applause, and raise a glass to my absent friend. Fly High Mark
